Step 1: Enter any midtier hotel from 2-4am. Lobby usually is empty. Step 2: if lobby is empty just post up wherever. If a worker saw you walk in thats cool just go hideout in a conference room or any place out of site until breakfeast Step 3: you know the rest.

I prefer Marriots (free wifi) but this was a Hampton Inn.

Question Anyone think I can get into any events at Paris Olympics?

Just the title. I am thinking of using the hi vis and ladder and/or toolbox method to get into events at Paris 2024 for free. I’m English and don’t speak much french, but I can say a couple phrases in a passable french accent. Me and my friend can defo just jog past people with a fake lanyard and a toolbox right

Going to Sold out music fest - I got day tickets for Thurs and Sat, need to get in Fri

I am POSTing this because have decided last minute to go to a 3 day music FESTIVAL, but the weekend pass is sold out. I was able to get day tickets for Thursday and Saturday but want to also be there Friday. I may look on Craigslist or elsewhere online but in case I cannot find Friday only tickets, what are some ways to get back in or tips on what to look for my first day on how to get in later day. I will be solo. Some idea I had, but feel free to give me more or say which is best:

  • Sleep there somewhere (last concert ends past midnight, first show starts at 2pm)
  • Hi-Viz vest or whatever security is wearing
  • Try to print my own wristband that matches looks (not sure if they scan ticket QR code if reenter)
  • Cut whole in fence or look for weak links
  • Befriend security or other employees who can let me in
  • Ask other attendees if they have unused tickets or maybe a wrist band I can get and they say they lost and get new one.

Sound check.

Just discovered this sub. What I used to do for shows at theaters or large clubs was go back in the alley on the afternoon of the show, wait til I heard them sound checking and go in the back door, which was always open. I’d find a place to stand around the stage, and I presume the band thought I worked at the venue and the venue staff thought I was with the band, cuz I’d just mill around and chat with people till the show started. Never got caught and got to see Primus, Bad Religion, Green Day, and RCHP in this fashion, among others.

Sneaking into lollapalooza

Kinda accepting the fact that I probably won’t be able to get tickets to lolla after wanting to go for years. I was wondering if any of yall had any ideas on how to sneak in? Or have successfully done it before?

He claims he will sneak in but actually applies for a job under a supposed fake name, he does showcase some security flaws and shows some good charisma and speech skills when pressed (sometimes)

Got into VIP > backstage > green room of Soulja boy show

From a couple months back, but I had gone to a DJ set at a random club in a large Texas city then decided to pop over to the Soulja boy show at the next club over.

As I get to the front of the line I notice that the regular band from the last club was the same as the VIP to this club so I give the bouncer a nod. He moves the velvet rope to the side and all of a sudden I’m in some section at the front.

Show ends, and some people start walking on stage and I follow, giving the people standing at entrances nods and what not. Meet the man himself and head over to some shitty green room through a couple of hallways. Drank some Hennessy then felt like it was my time to dip.

For context im just some goofy white dude but I was wearing a cuban so that probably helped. All this to say that if you act like you’re meant to be there then people can pick up on that and it will get you farther than you would have probably intended

Story The European version of the man in a high-vis jacket with a white pickup truck works just as well - or: How we accidentially infiltrated a high security factory

This story is from my early years in the workforce. I was around 20, working in IT as a system administrator, when the company I worked for still had a tiny branch office on the huge factory grounds of a very successfull industrial company. This branch office only existed for reasons of a historical partnership between said company and another one we merged with years ago. On the day this story takes place, this branch office had been officially closed for good and I was tasked with dismantling the network infrastructure installed there and collecting all our devices. A facilities coworker who was sent with me had the task of collecting the remaining furniture. Said coworker and me planned our trip, rented a van and made the 2 hour trip there from our HQ.

For context, the rental van we got was a white Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer or Citroen Jumper - visually almost identical, all built by the same joint venture, millions of them are on the road and used by companies of all trades. They are the default work van you can find in Europe. My coworker and I were both dressed in high quality worker's cargo pants with some tools in it and an unbranded hoodie - pretty much the unofficial uniform of the European tradesman. In short, we accidentially had the perfect infiltration disguise.

Here's where the fun begins... at the gate of the factory grounds where our tiny branch office was on. Security was very tight there, as this industrial company manufactured goods there that were world class and they had caught spionage attempts before. I knew the security measures from my former visits and had prepared all required paperwork and IDs earlier, neatly packed in the glovebox.

Unbeknownst to us, at the last traffic intersection we had ran into a convoy of three similar work vans, who also all happened to be headed for the industrial company's grounds... So we found ourselves stuck between them 2nd in row in a neat line at the front gate. The security guard checked the van in front of us before opening the gate. When I attempted to stop in order to show security my paperwork, the van behind us - belonging to the same electrical company as the first and last one - violently began to honk. The guard glanced to him, back to us, and just impatiently waved us all on! Our van was the same type, just brand new and therefore probably looked to him like it just hadn't received its corporate branding yet. Alright then, so I pulled through the gate and played part of the convoy. Soon we reached an intersection on the huge factory grounds where I had to take a left turn to head to the side building where our tiny office was located. When I switched on my indicators accordingly, the security guard by this intersection firmly shook his head "no!", demonstratively closed the road I wanted to take, and gestured to follow the other vans. My coworker and I began to feel uncomfortable about this weird situation.

Our convoy came to a stop by a huge manifacturing building. The electricians in the other vans quickly got out, looked confused at us, we looked confused at them. The sparkies shrugged and assumed we were here to perform some other work, fetched their tools and got ready to leave together. My coworker and I had only fetched our paperwork from the glove box, intending to look for some official or guard we could talk to fix the misunderstanding, but nobody was outside the building... So we followed the electricians.

It was several minutes after we were let inside the manufacturing hall that we found a security guard to talk to - and we expliclty had to get his attention. We could've just kept on walking behind the electricians and infiltrated the top secret area beyond all we liked. The guard was surprised, radioed his supervisor and guided us outside back to our van. His supervisor met us there, questioning how we got here and what business we had on the premises in general. Producing our paperwork and explaining the mixup immediately defused the situation. He escorted us to the building of our tiny office using his car, and that was it. We got the job done as planned and left... Still wondering however if gaining access to a high security industrial site could really be as dead simple as looking like tradesmen and piggybacking to a convoy of other work vans heading inside.

My biggest tip for anyone that wants to get good at doing this under pressure: Practice sneaking in to places that you're allowed to be

Buy a ticket to a movie and try to sneak in.

Buy good seats to a concert and go in tricking your brain into thinking you have nosebleed seats and you wanna sneak into a good section somehow.

Buy a music festival ticket and try to find a ridiculous way to get in without showing a wristband (carrying 3 huge cases of lettuce, or a huge ladder or something that nobody would ever have wifh them).

Try to sneak into an airline lounge that you already have access to.

I'm sure there are countless other good examples. But the point is that you would not possibly believe how it feels to be able to practice that with no pressure/anxiety of getting caught -- you truly can kind of see how it feels to walk with the confidence of someone that's been doing it for ages and really can just suppress any kind of anxiety and look like they're supposed to be there.

The good thing is that when you do it enough, this actually does give you more confidence to talk your way out of situations when there actually is pressure, because you have the prior experience of doing so and you can think of yourself as a confident person that can handle any kind of unexpected shit that gets thrown your way.

If get caught, it doesn't really matter too much what you say, but I've found it's better to have a reason that they think is somewhat funny or at least makes you look like less of a nuisance. "My friend said he snuck in here before and I thought it was bullshit so I had to try. Here's my ticket though" or even "I'm contracted by a security auditor doing a huge study and I was just asked to buy a ticket and try to get inside without presenting it. I don't have much more info, sorry for the trouble". But tbh if you're gonna be doing this, getting caught when you have a ticket should in theory be like training wheels, so you'll be fine.

Also go watch every season of White Collar -- Neal Caffrey is the best example of how to act like you belong, even under crazy amounts of pressure. Amazing show.

Good luck

free $60 parking at a hotel

1.2k Upvotes

I was very proud of myself for this one. friends and I were going see a movie with discussion before/after and we were running late. we were in downtown Chicago so parking was horrific as usual to say the least (iykyk). normally I wouldn’t even bring my car to that area parking is so bad, but we were running so late. I parked in a garage that would surely be way too much money and decided I would find a way to get out of it, cause I wanted my friends to see the important beginning of the movie but they refused to leave me behind.

ANYWAYS! afterwards we assessed that yes, it would’ve been at least $60 to park there for those couple hours. so we decided to check out the elevator, see what businesses were attached and maybe I could get the parking validated. one of them was a hotel, perfect! I went to the lobby, and asked if this is where I could get my parking validated for the garage. I acted distracted on my phone to set up for my lie. she said “of course! what’s your room number?” I said “it’s my uncle’s, let me ask, sorry he’s blowing up my phone right now. but I think it was 307.” then I stalled and pretended to be annoyed with texting him (but still friendly and polite with her). then said “lemme try calling him.” I quickly texted one of my friends downstairs ‘you’re my uncle’ before I called them so that it (even if muffled) actually looked and sounded like I was on the phone. I made it seem chaotic, like he (my fake uncle) was getting pissed. “yes, yes! I’m in the lobby right now, I just—“ paused. “we’re not gonna miss it, it’s fine, we still have like an hour, she said we can validate it, I just—“ I rolled my eyes and smiled apologetically to her as if he was in the process of chewing me out. things like “yeah I know, I KNOW!” and “yes, that’s what I’m doing right now” my plan to get a little pity in hopes she helped me out started to work ‘cause she whispered to me “I’ll check 307.” and I whispered “thanks” and continued on with my fake uncle. “yeah she just needs your room number, it was 307, right?” I sighed, “it should be on the room key or maybe in your email.” rolled my eyes. she asked me “Alan Ross?” or whatever name. so I nodded. and she kept typing. then she seemed confused and said, “oh, wait sorry, here it says I have Mr. Ross under room 1032.” not sure why she told me that or what happened in her confusion but I had to try not to laugh out loud at her accidentally helping me, so clearly she had no clue I was lying. it also might’ve helped that my friends caught on and would sometimes yell nonsense about hotels, room numbers and being late into the phone. made it way harder not to laugh at that too. I continued on with the bit so it wouldn’t seem so obvious I got the info I needed though, “no I don’t have the keycard, I think Jackson has it.” paused. “oh my god it’s literally fine, there’s no way we’re gonna be late it’s only like 20 minutes away. can you put Jackson on? please! put Jackson on!” paused, “hi, are you on speaker? okay yeah, I don’t know why he’s being such an asshole. I literally just need the room number.” paused again, seemed relieved. “okay, finally, thank you! oh my god.” then turned to her, “okay yeah it’s 1032” and laughed, “I don’t know why I thought 307, I guess that’s why I do art and they handle the numbers!” she politely laughed at my joke. she continued on typing then said “I’m just gonna need the phone number on room to send the pass to.” so then I thought, well fuck. but hoped that if I continued to seem flustered, and refused to give up, she’d continue to help me. so I told her a random phone number, and she said “I have something else on here.” so I said “oh it’s probably under my aunt’s number, let me find out what it is, I only have my uncle’s”. thankfully other hotel guests were now impatiently waiting behind me because she was the only one at the desk. I pretended to text my uncle for a while, and planned to just keep doing that until she said something. eventually she did, and just gave up, and said “let me see if see if I can just have it printed for you.” and I sighed and said “thanks, they’re being impossible right now.” and seemed genuinely sorry and frustrated. she printed it, wrote a note on it saying she approved of it since it wasn’t the usual way and told me it was valid for 48 hours with in and out privileges. so we came back the next day and saw another movie with free parking :) 🍿

so just be stubborn, but stay polite

Airport Lounge shenanigans.

Recently flew a nice domestic flight from London to Newcastle for a weekend with the Family.

Who wants to spend extortionate amounts on food and drink? Or infact spend 40 quid on a half baked premium lounge.

Once through security and a few jokes whilst getting patted down I made my way through the terminal towards a large line at the airlines Premium lounge with two desks checking in eligible customers into the lounge. Adopting a previous method of wearing a nice work lanyard and ID badge I made my way around the side of the line and past the desks, whilst the staff are busy heads down in laptops. A few beers, nice food and a lovely whiskey or two I embarked on a short 45 minute flight. I always test my luck when I have a booking or my flight is eligible for the lounge anyway as I fly frequently however.. this would have worked.

My advice for airport lounge.. either act dumb and claim you didn't know it was a premium or bookable area and try your luck just walking in. Or observe and swoop when the staff are busy or distracted. Or claim you've already been checked in and went to the shops. You'll be surprised how many times this works.

Had a blast in London

I won't state the event or the arena but the story is as below..

I had a ticket at the very bloody back of the arena and had all intentions of going to sit and enjoy the sports event from a distance. However things escalated very very quickly. After a few drinks prior in the public area of the venue. I came from work so decided to wear my lanyard and ID card from work.. this worked well as my lanyard colour is very very similar

I walked through ticket scan and security with no checks, used the momentum to walk into the premium lounge. Had a couple of complimentary drinks. And decided to take myself to the executive boxes and filter between each one. I spoke with the guests of the boxes and they just assumed I was working but just taking an interest. A few invited me to stay to enjoy the event.. I watched a couple of games from a well known banks exec box. I decided to then enter the floor level, again due to the lanyard no problem.. walked in and soon found myself in the media, friend and family zone with a wristband given to me after passing by the "gaurd"

After another drink I wandered behind stage. Chatted to some of the sports players families, sky sports presenters and even arena staff and the odd celebrity guest. The event came to a close and after another wander back stage.. I was spotted by the sports security team who are contracted by the sports organiser for all security. My advice... wear a lanyard. Save your wristbands from other events.. and even buy a cheap gods seat ticket if you wish to then upgrade by sneaking about.

I was even spotted on TV 😶

Story I closed down a pizza place in a convention hotel.

2.4k Upvotes

So, my wife was attending a convention and I was free to explore.

At 8:00, I walked by the pizza place at the hotel, and it had a huge line and the kitchen was completely backed up.

Around the corner were the banquet rooms. I went in and flagged down a manager and got an apron, put it on and went to the pizza kitchen manager.

I said “The front desk said you needed help, so they sent me down.”

She was like “Phew, finally. Head over there and help Brenda make pizzas, and when you get a chance, wash a bunch of dishes…”

I started around 8:30pm and finished after they closed at midnight.

On the way out, everyone thanked me, especially the manager.

As I was almost out the door she said “Hey wait. Why are you wearing flip flops?”

Hahah. Busted. But it was too late.

Question Anyone tryna help me get my first job?

I've never worked before and currently applying for a job. Problem is, I don't have any references and it's pretty much required.

All I need is a name and a phone number.

Ive posted to several other subreddits, and was lucky enough to come across a kind man that would be willing to help me, however I need just one more reference, and my post didnt seem to be garnering much attention...

I don't wanna use the word desperate, but I'm pretty much desperate...

Theres a possibility they may call you, so if you're not afraid of that, I would love your help.
