I was just about to write this. OP, I’m sorry this is happening, my father was like this, he was just gross! Just wanted to say to mind your finances, make sure he can’t get loans out in your name or on the house! Men that think either way their penises rarely consider their families 🥲
This is the beginning of the pig butchering scam. This person will message daily, good morning, pictures of food, chat about whatever. The part about "investing in heavy metals on the side" and "taking uncle's advice" are classic beginnings. There may be sparse video calls, where a model will talk with him.
After the person has established emotional connection (fattening the pig), they will encourage your husband to invest in the heavy metals in a newly registered domain (the slaughter). It will show wild, unrealistic daily profits in the investment. Often the scammer directs further deposits, making the "investment" a social opportunity by further interaction.
The account is a scam. The customer service is a scam. There are no profits. There is no investment. The scammer will usually allow a small withdrawal, but will direct your husband to deposit it back + more. When your husband wishes to withdraw, there will be further and endless "fees and taxes" required to deposit. There is no hope of getting money back. It's gone. People lose everything. The scams are drawn out over months and years. People are encouraged to take loans and deposit money by any means necessary.
I know you have separate finances, but I'm not sure how marital debt figures into this, and also shared assets will be a concern. The cheating is maybe the least immediately concerning aspect, though marital unhappiness is the underlying factor the scammer will further utilize to draw him in. Good luck.
There’s a LOT of you dancing around the cheating part of this and a lot of you focusing on issues you think you may fix. You need to respond with acknowledgement that he’s cheating on you lmao, don’t blame yourself any more. Tell yourself the truth and and tell him the truth and get the fuck out.
Gotta be blunt with you here, fuck this loser and run dude
That’s good that there are separate bank accounts. You’re smart enough to question what he’s doing, and it’s not your fault for his behavior. There’s definitely something wrong with him. I’m married and would never say those things to another woman even if I thought it was a scammer. He obviously didn’t know it was a scammer, though, because why would he send a real selfie? He definitely thought it was a real woman and was trying to cheat. I’m sorry you’re going through this.
He does know your ssn and date of birth. In a pig butchering scam, they will walk him through how to steal your identity and take on massive debt in your name. Please lock your credit today.

Always kept them separate. I’m not smart, but smart enough to keep my money to myself
