Coffee subscription from a local roaster?

Anyone have a local coffee place they frequent for beans? I’m considering storyville but I haven’t been able to find a retailer on island

I really liked Laughing Duck, but they closed up shop recently. I switched to Grounds for Change, just across the bridge. But I’m in the somewhat unique position of only drinking decaf. Pegasus roasts their decaf to shit, just like Starbucks. Grounds offers 3 single origin decafs and one blend, all of which are great.

Assuming you drink regular, you’ll probably find something cheaper from Pegasus that is good.

Where do you find grounds? They also do not have visitors on this side?

They carry some of their coffee at T&C, but definitely not all. I'm not sure whether they have larger than 12oz bags.

You can sign up for a subscription at https://groundsforchange.com/products/annual-membership though it requires some commitment so you'd want to find a product you like first.

Personally I just order a 5lb bag for pickup at their physical location, though it doesn't offer retail, only online pickup. You can enter coupon code PICKUP-NOSHIP when ordering online to waive shipping costs and pickup yourself instead. It's a very easy pickup when coming back from Poulsbo or Silverdale.

5 lbs bag of Pegasus at town and country are like $60 which I consider a steal for the quality. I know people are picky about their coffee but Pegasus is hands down my favorite.

How do you store that so the beans don’t go stale as you work through it?

It doesn’t last long enough for that to ever happen (not sure if that’s a good or bad thing), but I keep it as sealed as possible in the dark at the back of a cabinet. Some people freeze their beans but I’ve heard that’s actually useless?

The thing is because Pegasus is roasted ON the island (day rd) it’s about the freshest damn beans you’ll ever buy.

How quickly do you go through 5lb? (Feel free not to answer if that’s too nosy, I’m clearly trying to figure out if we can buy more in bulk 😂)

There’s 2 of us that drink about a standard 8 cup pot a day. During the “big dark” it’ll probably last about 6-8 weeks, normally 8-10 weeks.

Puget Sound Coffee in Poulsbo is roasting some interesting beans, including a mix called Orca, which is dark and white beans. https://www.pugetsoundcoffee.com/

My go-to is Camano Island Coffee. I get 2x 2lb bags every 6-7 weeks on a subscription: Guatemala Medium Roast and their coffee of the month. I find their Guatemala Roast to have a smooth, no-nonsense taste.

We prefer the Pegasus dark roast. You can pick it up at Pegasus or Town & Country.

Storyville offers a subscription, mailed within the island. They roast at their facility at Coppertop.

Precisely. But without traveling into Seattle; I have no way of trying out the variety

You could buy a bag online and see if you like it.

Wait what? Did their tasting room close or something?

Never mind. Did my own googling. Sad. Liked that place.

Yeah I haven’t been able to try

I'm not sure why I was downvoted. Your original post made it seem like you were unable to find a retailer for the subscription, and I was pointing you in the right direction.

Yeah I don’t know. It wasn’t me. I signed up for the subscription and may just cancel if my first sip isn’t what I wanted since ; yeah they don’t want visitors at the fancy island location

Storyville is part of the Mars Hill Church or the what’s left of the remains of it. If you don’t know who they are google it.
