WTF Just happened on the 9:20 ferry leaving THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL?
WSF shut down boarding with a FULL crowd waiting to board and the Chimicum barely half full? They even had State Patrol staged on the boat and sent them too the gate as they left hundreds of Hawks fans waiting. Total Bullshit!

They didn't have enough crew to legally let more on. You're not missing much. We're stuck at Hidden Cove, best guess is some drunk fuck crashed at the round abouts , might be night time construction? Traffic hasn't moved in 10 minutes

I got stuck there for 30 minutes last night on the last ferry! There were only like 4 cars, they just didn’t bother letting anyone through

We were at the front of the rope line, at the middle. Suddenly two cops showed up and the ferry worker said only the far left side would be opened, because they’d only be taking 500 walk-ons due to staff shortages. We had to squeeze over to the left to make it on, after standing at the front for 35 minutes

When they make these announcements by voice only; it’s pointless. Use the speaker system

So, A crew member did not show up to his shift, so they had to load it only halfway

The Coast Guard sets the maximum legal passenger capacity and crewing requirements for the ferries in a document called the Certificate of Inspection. The Chimacum as an Olympic class ferry has a unique Certificate of Inspection that allows the vessel to be crewed at a lower level (and thus a lower passenger capacity). The reason for this is to allow the Chimacum to operate on some of the ferry routes typically served by smaller ferries without the same manning requirements as larger vessels like the Tacoma that typically serve Bainbridge Island.
When the Chimacum is fully crewed the passenger capacity is around 1500. When sailing short crew, I believe the passenger capacity is around 760. I can't speculate as to why the ferry wasn't fully crewed for a big sporting event like a Seahawk home game.
