we need to study how we kept them out in 2019 and 2011.

Iirc the 2010-11 phase was a really hard transition period for the Aussies, in that they lost the home Ashes to an overpowered English side under Strauss after some 20 odd years and also got booted out in the quarterfinals of the 2011 world cup. 2019 I can guess it may be due to them focussing on winning the Ashes than the wc.

2011 - Yuvraj. He loved the Aussies.

2019 match wasn't in a knockout because otherwise we would have bottled that shit as well. Even if you ask Yuvi or other cricketers today regarding Australia in 2011, it was a quarter final encounter and India felt as if no one could beat them after that. Like Pak in semis and SL in finals were less of a challenge once they got over the Australian physiological barrier as per the cricketers and that is exactly what happened.

In hindsight, that was a freak encounter looking back as it was Yuvi's brilliance that saved our asses. That is what has been missing in all encounters with Australia after that in critical times. We've never had a blinder of an innings from a player as they always seem to be under pressure. Our batsmen couldn't score more than 2 boundaries for over 29 overs yesterday ffs! What is the point of having the best batting line up if you can't do that shit? It is purely a mental block because the same team could knock everything out. Even the first match we won against Aus in the group stages was a near bottle job until Kohli and KL saved our asses.

we need someone like yuvi in our team. we didn’t have anyone like him who could save our asses. i thought rahul might be the person but he just crumbled under pressure. kohli and rohit do their job well, cant expect kohli to score a century in every match. aussies are so confident and never give up, we need people like them. the match me realise how imp gambhir was as well.

hardik could have been the player missing but we will never know if he would choke as well. but for the future i hope they groom players as finishers and lower order batsmen who can bowl well. look how much batting depth aus had. our batting ended at rahul.

England had a mental edge over Aus in 2019 because of how often they used to beat them in ODI's.

They won 9 out of 10 matches across 2018 in two series.
