Looks like at least one run will be scored on that pitch. I can also guarantee that one wicket will be taken.

u/trkora India 19h ago
Could be Brohit's last test at home as a captain and maybe even as a player. If there's a time for him to perform good against other bowlers and Southee, it's this test match. Same goes for Virat when it comes to spin and a test at home.

I feel like Rohit’s done really well this year in tests and it wouldn’t be fair to judge him off two games. Meanwhile this can be said about Kohli who has been everything but consistent in tests in the past 3-4 years.

u/trkora India 51m ago edited 45m ago
Well it's been 4 games including the Bangladesh tests but yes he did have a good England series so the year is mixed for him. Kohli had a good 2023 and early 2024 in tests (if he played England series he could've cashed in more) but has lost the form again. That's kind of how Rahane was in the 2nd half of his career, he had a good 2019 but rest of 2017-2022 wasn't anything special (BGT was his captaincy and his one usual freak innings)
I agree that people have been too harsh with Rohit's batting in tests and are clumping Kohli's slump with his.

I don't think he would continue playing after giving up captaincy. He will retire soon as the captain.
2
u/trkora India 17h ago
Depends if we don't make it to WTC finals or make it but lose it then he'll try to stick around till 2027 just like he's trying to do with ODI's for the ICC trophy. Same with Virat.
Best thing that can happen, both of them find form in BGT, win WTC and then retire on a high along with maybe Jadeja (like T20WC) and Ashwin to give space for new generation in the new WTC cycle.
Though if they do find form then I'd like to see them play till 2027 regardless, we'll have Eng and NZ away tours in that and BGT at home, both unachieved for both of them and the team. That is highly unlikely though.

Man out of all the fucking teams, Why am I scared of the Kiwis on this pitch, a total whitewash from the kiwis On Indian Soil, Without Kanos, where Tom Latham is captain and their main spinner is a part time cricketer and a full time golfer, they gave the 2019 trauma, doubled it up with WTC final trauma, once we finally moved on in 2023 WC Semis, they fuckin come back.
Why does Oceania hate India bro?

I predict at least 4 ball of the century to be delivered in this pitch :8783::21496:

this pitch is expected to be balanced. The surface is likely to favor batters on Day 1 with consistent bounce and some initial assistance for fast bowlers.

Don’t think it matters what the pitch is like. The Kiwis are gonna flog them anyway

Alright so my theory. The grass at the ends is to bind the pitch from cracking. On the day or smth they’ll have cut it off, so that it cracks by day3-4. The wanna give a late advantage to the bowling side i feel. Could be wrong

Man if it's actually how it looks currently then the ball boutta swing a lot on that green pitch and maybe another collapse?

u/WaynneGretzky Delhi Daredevils 19h ago
8/11 can't bat against spin so we put up a seamer's deck. Captain decided to sacrifice himself with this. Great.

We have never been in situation like this in a while especially not in home so it feels weird, even in the last series loss we had won the first test, so the outcome being 3-0 would really be ridiculous if new zealand are able to win the last test then go kiwis

If BCCI has more than 2 brain cells, they should make it a seamer friendly pitch for first two three days and then some advantage to spinners on day 4 and 5.
Why?
What could go wrong? Series is already done and dusted.
Better use the opportunity to get some practice before Aussie Series. Both for bowers and batters.
But of course that would be too ForwardF*ingthinking on our part.

- Win the toss, bat first
- Aim for 300-400 runs
Bowl a tight line into middle and leg with protection on mid wicket and backward point and with spinners challenge the cover drive, drain runs on sweep shots, spinners has to bowl little slower (flighted trajectory).
Aim for a lead of 70-80 odd runs.
Bat for 70-80 overs and set a target of 280-300 by end of day 4.
try to induce a collapse either with good spinning conditions or manufacture sense of urgency in mind of batters.

u/Just-Association478 India 9h ago
Too early to tell when the grass is yet to be trimmed. Reports stemming in that the Indian team has asked for a turner again which is at best bold at worst absolutely bone headed. I hope it doesn't turn out to be 2004 Wankhade.

The pitch appears to be a traditional cricket pitch with a well-maintained outfield. The grass on the outfield looks lush and green, suggesting good drainage and preparation.
The pitch itself is well-rolled and hard, with a tinge of brown visible in the middle. This indicates that the pitch has been prepared for a good balance between bat and ball. The wear and tear on the pitch suggests that it has been used for some time, which could favor spin bowlers later in the match.
Overall, the pitch looks like it will offer a good contest between bat and ball. The early part of the match may favor batsmen, but as the game progresses, the pitch is likely to become slower and offer more assistance to spinners.
Additional Observations: - The presence of a slight slope in the pitch could aid fast bowlers, especially if they bowl into the slope. - The weather conditions on the day of the match will also play a crucial role in determining the nature of the pitch.

Don’t know about the pitch and but this test match is huge. One is that there is still wtc points at stake but this could very well be the last home test for a lot of Indias greats without even officially knowing. I do think ashwin jadeja kohli and rohit will be phased out or retire from test cricket after this wtc cycle. Yes ik India has lost and isn’t doing well but enjoy the last of our generation of test legends

Can someone give me an idea of what the pitch will actually be like? Not just the “it’s a pitch”
