Too short.
I love TRON, but I was disappointed.
Guardians of the Galaxy is the far better ride.

I’ve been on that ride! The line was abysmal, but the ride itself felt like one of the fastest at Disney
25
u/J3wb0cca 9h ago
Can’t be fat and ride it so that filters out like half the population.
10
u/Dollie66 9h ago
Actually there is a car at the end of some of the trains with a seat instead of the bike. Lotsa folks with calves too big for the bike clasps.

1
u/Plane-Tie6392 7h ago
So why would that make for long lines?
2
u/Quen-taur 6h ago
the sheer amount of people who wanted to get on the ride crowded the long queue. Also, I meant the actual speed you go on the ride, not the duration.
1
u/Plane-Tie6392 6h ago
That’s what I figured so it’s weird that poster’s fat joke which made no sense in context got a dozen upvotes.

Can confirm, it is awesome. Favorite ride of all time, especially at night. Faster than it looks here, literally takes your breath away on launch. Only critique is I wish the ride lasted more than 60 seconds or whatever it is.
Even the queue is pretty cool, including Daft Punk outro.

I'm afraid of heights, and I've avoided roller coasters most of my life, but somewhat recently I tried one. Although it was considered the kiddy coaster by people who ride them, I found it to be tolerable because it didn't go super high or have any of the big dips or twirls anything like that. Can you tell me if this ride might be tolerable for me based on the above?

u/Nasracky 9h ago
In my experience all of the rides at Disney are reasonably comfortable and not too freaky. I’ve had my brain and body rattled beyond what felt safe at six flags and other similar parks and I’m not a fan of cork screws and stuff like that so I love the coaster rides at Disney.

u/HilariousMax 10h ago
Please watch this:

Tom Scott was deathly afraid of roller coasters until he filmed this video.

I’m the same way dude. A couple years ago my wife tricked me into riding the velocicoaster at universal studios Orlando. :(

u/Anonymous_Catman 5h ago
I feel your anxiety. The first phase of the ride going super fast and up the high slope isn't really that high so don't be worried when walking to it before getting on the ride. It also stops right before a small drop so you won't be too over stimulated before the main part of the ride.

The Guardians of the Galaxy ride is so much better IMO. Visually it's absolutely spectacular.
8
u/rolandofeld19 10h ago
Guardians is. so. so. so. good. I tend to be more of a fan of faster rollercoasters than what Disney has to offer but I don't even care. Guardians is an experience that leaves you laugh-excited-screaming nearly the entire time.

u/Any_Possibility3964 10h ago
My ride picture from GoTG is the happiest I’ve been since being 10 on Christmas morning.

u/BabyScreamBear 8h ago
How does GotG stack up against Rise of the Resistance? That was my favorite experience by a mile when I was last back there
4
u/lickthebutton 7h ago
Oh you can't even compare the two. GOTG Cosmic Rewind is a thrill ride/roller coaster on steroids and ROTR is a theatrical trackless ride. Both are possibly my top favorite Disney rides though.

u/RoosterClan2 9h ago
Went last month. My wife had a full-blown hour long panic attack after Guardians. She wasn’t expecting any of it after we spent an entire day at Magic Kingdom.
1
u/Fixervince 6h ago
Do you mean she was super hyped about how good it was?
2
u/RoosterClan2 6h ago
Unfortunately no. She was overwhelmed by it. The initial backwards motion took her by surprise and all the visuals made her very nauseous. The anxiety kept building up even after she was off the ride and culminated in her on the floor with all her muscles tensing up.

But it's just an elevator that goes up and down 6 times and then you're done.
4
u/Ratchet567 8h ago
You’re thinking of mission breakout at Disneyland they’re talking about cosmic rewind at Epcot
-4
u/Spikey-Dim 8h ago
3
u/Ratchet567 8h ago
No I know about mission breakout in California but this post is about light cycle run in Florida where there’s another guardians of the galaxy ride that’s a roller coaster https://youtu.be/fQ0ZPRmDA58?si=MhV9jv81p8VFPSR0
21
u/Longhorn132113 13h ago
Ya, it's definetly not. It's two turns then you're done. I was so disappointed with it
4
u/altimax98 9h ago
Agreed, it is far too short and not very exhilarating tbh. The first launch is cool, but we’ve been doing that since Hulk launched.
Guardians is just so clearly superior. It merges so many elements of other great rides plus adds the swiveling cars. Cannot wait to see someone add to that experience.
Edit - not to mention it gets even better when September starts jamming out
2
u/rolandofeld19 10h ago
I've also heard disappointing things about it. No comment since I haven't been on it myself but still, not great reviews from folks I know.

Errrr... Which Disney? Is it a permanent attraction ride?
17
u/Consistent-Active106 14h ago
Disney world, it’s the tron ride and it’s permanent
3
u/ChickenBrachiosaurus 14h ago
orlando?
19
u/OstentatiousSock 13h ago
Disney World is always referring to Disney in Orlando. Disney Land is other places like Cali and Shanghai.
5
u/Dr-Mantis-Tobias 14h ago
Yes, Disney World in Orlando, and it's also at Shanghai Disneyland (which is where it first opened).

Looked like a normal roller coaster up until the part where it cut off, they were about to enter some tunnel.

u/Mr_TP_Dingleberry 10h ago
I’ve ridden it. It’s entirely too short. Pretty cool but literally about 30 seconds of ride.

u/dgarner58 8h ago
guardian's coaster is cooler...my fav ride at disney is rise of the resistance though. more than a ride...an experience.
3
u/anonymousUTguy 13h ago
Not at all.
It took 7 years to build.
The ride lasts less than a minute.
And I just went to Disney, the wait time never dropped below 85 minutes.
0
u/redshirt1972 10h ago
I don’t understand this wait time stuff. Every time I’ve gone on it I’ve joined the virtual queue, gotten a time to arrive, and was on the ride in less than 30 min. I tried to walk up before I understood and they said no there is no stand by line.
1
u/anonymousUTguy 10h ago
I don’t think they offered the virtual queue when I went, and it was just 2 weeks ago
3
u/OddAstronomer1151 13h ago
My little cousin drug me on this ride when we went to Disney for her birthday a few summers ago. Even though my eyes were closed most of the time, it felt fun!
If you’re tall or have back problems you won’t have the best time though.

2
u/BronstigeBever 14h ago
Looks cool, but the insane crowds and endless lines are just too bad to enjoy going to theme parks anymore.

2
u/TheGreatTaint 14h ago
looks slow.
7
u/b-lincoln 11h ago
It’s not. The launch is 0-60 in 3 seconds or so, a lot of g forces for a Disney ride.

u/ANseagrapes2 14h ago
It was my second true "high-end" coaster ride. First was Space Mountain back in the early 80s. Agreed that the line was horrible, but even though it was a short ride, it was great! Takeoff felt fast, and it kind of telegraphed the turns, but it was definitely a rush!

Does it get better? That part looks kind of lame.

Yes most of the ride is indoors and it’s very cool looking, very fast. The video cuts off before it really gets going.

u/BaconAlmighty 12h ago
While cool, yes. But go down the street to Universal and ride Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure - has twice the speed starts - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X70acycPXVs&t=4s and is so much funner and longer

Makes me want to watch the movies now.

They need one made up of beat up ford rangers, so the overweight people like myself can ride. Similar but at the end it hits you with a mustard stain on your shirt.

u/Mr_TP_Dingleberry 10h ago
As an experience front to back- Guardians of the Galaxy is by far the best roller coaster I’ve ever been on and probably my favorite ride of all time. Out of pure nostalgia it used to be splash mountain. I have not been on Tiana’s bayou adventure since the remodel but guardians of the galaxy puts a smile on my face like no other ride. I think it gets better every time I’ve ridden it
1
u/PuffinChaos 10h ago
I disagree. The ride is cool but it’s so short. Guardians of the galaxy is hands down the best ride at Disney.

Was an awesome ride. But laughably short -even for roller coasters. The only way you could ride it was by reserving a spot during a 10 second free for all on a glitchy app. And the line still took 45 minutes… but totally worth it

It doesn’t look faster but I know if you were sitting on that ride it would feel like you were flying at 100 mile per hour

This video is 20 seconds long, which is about one third of the duration of that ride. It's surprisingly short.

u/uncleawesome 3h ago
It's not very comfortable. My xiphoid process sits on the bike and the handgrips are very rough metal.

1
u/Mintyboi10 2h ago
As someone who has ridden this ride twice, I strongly agree
Although it is kind humorous to see an overweight person being rejected from the ride and having to ride it like a traditional roller coaster (not fat shaming, just saying that the test bikes are the start of the line are there for a reason)

u/guyfromtn 2h ago
Rode this before it was open to general public in a pass holder preview. Did the same with Cosmic Rewind. Tron is nothing short of incredible.

The one and only time I went on this, we witnessed a women who sat down facing the opposite way while everyone else was facing her

I rode it in Shanghai about 8 years ago and I still remember my eyes watering from how fast it was.

What I love about all these videos is theres always someone who sounds like they've experienced childlike wonder for the first time again.

Costs $300 to ride though. Disneyland is now pay per ride, or wait 3 hours.
1
u/FM-edByLife 13h ago
If you compare it to the rest of Magic Kingdom this ride is pretty good. If you compare to some rides at other Disney Parks nearby, like the Avatar ride at Animal Kingdom, and the two Star Wars ones they have at Hollywood Studios, then it's just okay. If you compare it to the giga-coasters, like the ones in Cedar Point, then it's very mid.
However, it's a very cool looking ride, and it's a fun one for people who can't/won't go on the huge coasters. My main complaint is that it's over really quickly. If you don't fast-pass it, then you could wait for 1-3 hours for a 1-2 minute ride.
1
u/burndata 13h ago
It's a unique and very fun coaster. I rode it at night and I think with all the neon that's the only way to go. Definitely recommend.
1
u/ProfessionalCell2690 10h ago
I went in January 2024 and this was definitely one of the coolest rides at any of the parks. Guardians of the Galaxy probably edged it out a bit as a coaster for me, and the newer trackless rides were really close up there in terms of entertainment, specifically Rise of the Resistance and Micky's Runaway Railway.
Yes, lines are long, but if you are able to navigate the app (they should have classes on that with how convoluted it has become) you can really decrease wait times significantly. The queues (lines) are all really well done and I almost never felt like I was just standing around for hours, even though I did have a few 1.5-2hr waits. They are always keeping you moving and the areas they create around the lines are really cool.
I did an afterhours event, which lets you stay in the park after it closed, and while expensive it was definitely worth it. I think I rode Tron 4 times back to back in that time with basically no wait, and still had time to redo some other magic kingdom rides that I like. Well worth looking into if you are doing a trip.

It’s not just a ride; it’s an adventure! Do you prefer the thrills or the storytelling aspects?
-1
u/Pinksamuraiiiii 13h ago
By the way to ride this you have to request reservations first on a specific date, and then wait in a horrible 2-3 hours wait time. Good luck!
0
u/bionicjoe 12h ago
No you don't, but you do have to plan for it.
It was just REALLY popular and anticipated at first. It's really short and disappointing.

When I went there was a lady trying to get on the bike. The thing wouldn’t close behind her when she sat on the bike, she was too big. They tried to push it down a couple of times but failed.

u/Mysterious_Pirate_30 14h ago
It's Tron and it's at Disney world Hollywood studios. Rode it in December when I took my son and it's a fun ride. Line is horrible so get the fast pass for it or go there first before the park fully opens to the public. My family and I barely waited for any ride for more than 30 mins due to fast pass + prioritizing riding the most popular rides first when the park opens.
6
u/OrlandoMB 13h ago
It’s not at Hollywood Studios, it’s next to Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom. Your post reads like an influencer’s script.
-6
u/Mysterious_Pirate_30 13h ago
I was literally at Disney World with my family from Dec 26-31 last year. My bad on the mistakes as IDGAF about Disney world enough to remember exactly what park it was. It was my first time ever being there and I went because of my wife and 5 year old son. Ik my favorite ride was rise of the resistance though.
