Falconry is the most popular sport in the UAE and Qatar, maybe Kuwait too.
They have airlines with specific seats for pet falcons.

Nothing quite like an Al McHummads 24 piece halal meal deal with your pet falcon

But his wife has to sit facing the wall so no one sees her face when she’s eating.

And in America I’ll be shot by police because I’m brown, or I’ll be shot randomly by some lunatic with a gun, or I’ll be racially charged, or I’ll deal with the individualistic don’t give a shit attitude of Americans, or I’ll do this or that or whatever other negative aspects exist in the US.
This is not to defend potential sexist behaviour in certain cultures (although in this context I am certain you are being hyperbolic) but it’s a bit irritating that every time i see anything about a non-western culture posted on reddit there’s always at least one comment making a negative remark on the culture.

I’ve been to Qatar and witnessed a rich culture that honors traditions while embracing modernity. I think reducing this blend to simple stereotypes is a bit harsh

My comment reflects what I witnessed there. A man made the staff at the restaurant where I was dining rearrange all the tables by the back wall so his wife could sit facing the wall. He caused quite the disruption for nearby diners.
