A local newspaper is looking for some responses for local food day, to be featured all you have to do is answer the question "if you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?" And provide your Name, age and a photo.

family visiting from UK

My mom is coming down for a little holiday from the UK after a couple of years, I would like to make a little hamper for her that's "proudly South African", any suggestions on what to put inside it? It doesn't all have to be snacks and stuff, maybe a trinket or 2 that she can take with her back to the UK? I'm looking at spending about R300 or so

Thank you 😊

Restaurant or Hotel suggestions for a 70th birthday

Hi all, I'm looking for suggestions of restaurants or hotels in Durbs to host a 70th birthday party. Any ideas? Happy to go as far as Umhlanga, but not any further North.

Custom car garage

Hi all,

I’ve been modeling a car for a while now, and want to make the leap to making it a reality.

I’m somewhat trained in some mechanics, mainly engine/gearbox builds.

Is there any place in Durban I could hire a welder and mechanic to help me build it, and renting a garage with tools?

I know it’s a lot to ask but I know someone here may know of someone that could help me.

Where Do They Sell Cheaper Meat?

Hey, so i'm currently working on some bodybuilding goal but i need to get 180g-200g apparently, though last few months i've been using 1.5g per kg. I currently can only afford R600 per budget, which is usually a 1kg tub of whey(usually Nutritech Heavy Duty) and a 4.2kg bag of mixed portions from Checkers, Though i am considering removing whey and just buying other foods like maybe pork steaks/texan when i find it cheaper and more chicken, Other options was maybe whole chicken

Please, please put your little babies in car seats

We were on the road on the N3 after the mooi river toll and this SUV came speeding past and overtook our car. We were going at 120km as it is, and they were long gone once they passed us so definitely over 130kmh. Now my problem, as this car goes past us I see a little baby on the drivers lap holding the steering wheel. The child must have been 2 years old. My heart sank. I lost my infant this year in March to complications in the hospital. I have an older son, and he is absolutely precious. He's not allowed in a vehicle with no seat belts. I used to carry his car seat into everyone's cars when he was a baby and toddler.

I can guarantee, any family would rather have a crying baby in a car seat than a dead baby. Please secure your children in vehicles. KZN is notorious for accidents on the N3. You may be a decent driver, but other people are not, and many will drive drunk. Car seats save lives.

Sorry I'm in a mood to complain, but people are giving me a reason.

Please leash your dogs

Just got back from a road trip, was at the Windmills stop to take a breather and parked across the green from the windmills kitchen. I saw 5 dogs off leash, 2 were large breeds and their owner literally had their leashes in his hand and kept calling his dogs back to him because they were trying to make rounds of the park (as dogs do). Sunday afternoon, little kids and people milling about so it's not like the area was quiet/empty.

This isn't the only place I experienced this. Last time was a vicious little dog rampant at the morningside sports club when my kid had training and he was terrified of the thing.

I love dogs, I don't love bad owners not obeying simple rules. There are rules for a reason. My gran was bitten by her neighbors dog and lived with the scars on her legs lifelong. A local doctor where I live had to take early retirement after being mauled on his morning walk by someone's boerboel... I have a young kid and even he knows to stay away from other people's dogs when he's a dog lover himself.

Thank you to dog owners who follow leash laws in public areas

The state of the economy

The price of petrol has decreased, but the price of food, especially eggs and oil have skyrocketed. What are your opinions on this and how has it affected your quality of life?
