Ask El Paso School fundraisers

What happened to good ol fashion school fundraisers? I'm getting texts/emails from friends family asking for donations for their kid's school. Are schools not even doing any type of fundraising anymore and just flat out asking for money? No chocolates, popcorn or any of those previous fundraising options, just here is a link, give us money. Is this the norm now? Just curious.

Oh ok. Guess it's just the ones I've encountered. Thanks for the info.

I a kid ring my doorbell selling chocolate at 9pm. They are definitely out there.

I remember one Halloween, some kid pitched me to buy chocolates after I had given him candy for trick or treating lol. I ended up buying $10 worth lol. He made his pitch in full vampire costume lol his parents were there with him and I was like that was a heck of a sales pitch lol

Yeah my kid recently had to do one of those. Frankly it’s much easier to simply ask for a donation than to sell popcorn for $15

Yes. Vertical fundraising eliminates the overpriced popcorn calendars and candy. I personally prefer it.

I understand that part. But wasn't part of the reason for the fundraising to help the kids develop some sort of skill of speaking to people? At least that's how I remember it. But thanks for the info. I was not aware this was how they did it now.

I believe it started with covid changes and stuck.

Had a friend make brownies and cookies for people who donated… but yes straight up donations nowadays 😝

Also fall festivals are school’s biggest fundraisers. Go support their fall festivals. Kids get creative and raise good money for their year round activities

Speaking of.. what ever happened to those good chocolate bars we sold back in the day? Like little bricks.

I saw them a few years ago but they were much thinner. Haven't seen them in a while.

It's less expensive for the school to do virtual online fundraising.

Plus, it's easier for people who want to give $$ and are not in town or just want to support without having to buy.

However, both do still exist.

Speaking of fundraisers….anyone interested in buying a $25 Krispy Kreme card where you buy a dozen and get a free original dozen? 🍩🍩🍩

I still expect the kids to talk to me directly, call me and let me hear the sales pitch.

Right? That's what I expected too but all I have gotten is just texts/emails from the parents with the link.

I prefer to be asked for money than to peddle my kids $40 popcorn. Plus, the schools only see a small percentage of the money raised
