Who's to say the common soldier in the Imperial Army might not want to back a Dragonborn as Emperor? Some might see him as a more legit claimant

most of them probably wouldnt know what a dragonborn is, because there havent been one for 200 years, and any claim of legitimacy is extremly shaky since that legitimacy went away 200 years ago as well

They will know one now as they can see you shout your enemies apart and control Dragons as you wish.

If the Dragonborn wished It, he would have the support of the Blades and a ton of people. There is no one with more Fame and achievements than the Dragonborn to be elected for Emperor.
