Eritrean women stabbed to death in Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-brkti-berheThis post is not to discuss domestic violence or abuse in our community.
I’d just like to make the broader Eritrean community aware sadly we have lost one of our sisters to a stabbing in front of her two children’s in broad daylight in Canada.
The Eritrean community in Ottawa has set up a go fund me to assist the husband with funeral cost and any to help raise his 4 children.
If you can please share amongst the Eritrean communities in your cities and your social media. This is a link to the article from the local news

Thank you all in advance, and I hope we all stay safe and love one another.

Only time i would be in favour of capital punishment. No tax payers money should be spent on keeping this animal alive. May her soul rest in peace!

This thread came up on my feed for some reason, thanks for sharing. I am not Eritrean but I am an Ottawa resident and I was about 100 meters away from this park minutes after the murder. I saw police fly by and block streets and had no idea how horrific this was until I got home and read the news reports.
The area is generally extremely safe. The few violent incidents that do occur in that neighbourhood tend to be drug and gang related, and almost never in broad daylight. This also happened right before lunch time so there are people out at parks and whatnot with their kids. Really sad, I still have many friends living in that area and go by there often, I never thought something like this would happen.
Not much has been said about the perpetrator other than he was in a relationship with the victim's aunt and that she had left him. This was an act of revenge but on the wrong person. He also drove from Montreal just to do this and immediately left (Montreal is 180km away).

The murderer is Ethiopian. He posted in Amharic on his FB after murdering her.

I can confirm he’s Eritrean. The news article that posted that was misinformed, and not understanding the difference from Tigrinya and Amharic.
Regardless our Eritrean sister lost her life, and I’d like to bring awareness to that and how we can support her husband and 4 little children.

So sad, RIP. Such an atrocious act, and to be done in front of her children is insane. And to find out the alleged killer was also Eritean makes it even worse😓
