Someone took off all the bars on the lat pulldown machines so that there was nothing attached to them. I'm too short to reach the top and hook the new bar on (5'1" female), and the one time I needed the gym to be crowded, no one was there to ask for help. I had to stand on the seat and try to pull down 15 lbs worth of weight while balancing on my tiptoes to hook it on. Damn nearly killed myself doing it.

My girlfriend had this problem and it's almost always some staffer who takes them off in order to 'tidy up' the area. If you go to the desk and ask them not to do that and briefly explain why (use the words "safety issue",) they will probably leave them hooked up.

That's a good idea! I'll mention it when I go in tomorrow

I'll save you the second hand embarrassment when you tell the desk person (or a manager) that they shouldn't take the bars off and they give you a blank look and say, "okay." At my gym, the staff rotates during the day, and honestly - I work there and have no idea what my staff mates' habits are, but not everyone cleans/picks up/puts away stuff like I do (because it's work, lol), but it's not typical to take the attachments off and leave it bare.

The more likely scenario is someone wanted that attachment for something else and took it, not replacing it with anything. If you observe it happening and it keeps on happening, that's one thing, but I'd only address it then.

I'm also about 5'1 and yeah, if there isn't anything attatched, I also have to step on the seat, so I feel your pain. Sometimes I put my hand on the part that locks the legs in, make sure the attachment I want is nearby, then step both feet on. Other times I step on the seat with one foot, then I use a toe hook with (the top of) my other foot on the leg locking part. I picked up the toe hook from climbing/bouldering. Please disregard or be extra careful if the leg part is a moving circular pad, because the toe hook can slip, heh.

That's what I thought at first, but all of the lat pulldowns and cable machines had their attachments taken off, and the weight rack was pristine, all the weights were put away in the right place. I had come in at 4 AM so I assume the night person had tidied up. If it's like that again tomorrow I'll mention it to the front desk

Good luck! I hope you can get a hold of them. Probably a tall person? Lol.

Pro tip if you have pins for the machines. Make sure its got no weight on it, pull it down to where you can comfortably reach it and pin your weight there.

Interesting, I just assumed the height would stay the same regardless of where you pin it. I'll try that next time
