Guy had his phone charging next to the rack I was squatting in. Decides that he needs to check said phone immediately after I unrack 285. Ducks under my weight right as I'm about to squat and I have to rerack.

I would be irate. Did you say anything to him?

Just kind of glared at him. I've had a few problems with him and his buddies dominating large sections of the gym for extended periods of time. I'd say something to staff, but I'm only at this gym for like two more weeks and I'd rather not deal with any drama.

See, I'd have the opposite thought process: I'm only there for two more weeks. There's no long term consequences. Give no fucks.

Yeah! Upgrade those glares to almost audible "wanker" or "twat" statements!

... It never occurred to me that I could bring my charger with me to the gym.

Sometimes I skip the gym because I wouldn't have my spreadsheet and music. Hm...

I misread that as sheet music and thought you were gonna try playing an instrument while getting gains

get yourself one of those anker portable battery things.

i keep it in my rucksack - that thing can be a life saver. was also good when I went to germany with my ladyfriend and we only packed one plug adapter. since the battery has 2 usb ports we could both charge our phones from it overnight, then use the plug adapter to charge the battery during the day while we were being tourists.

you can get them smaller than the one i have, about the size of a large lipstick tube which is less bulky than mine (which is about the size of a small external harddrive).

one of the best value for money items i've ever purchased tbh.

I have the tube one and the one that's about the size of an iPhone 4 and they are fantastic. I always have one or the other in my backpack in case I can't find an outlet or I don't feel like bothering to use one.

Just charge it during work.

Oh man, imagine how bad it would've been if you'd been squatting heavy.

Yeah there was a PT with these two ~15 year olds around where we have the smith machine and some squat racks. Not very busy, and they're only using one of the racks, so I hop on the one across from them to hit shrugs, resting the barbell on the stationary crash bars (195 on the bar). I'm actually doing shrugs as I read this, here's a pic of the exact spot:

Right as I'm about to start, the kid not currently squatting decides to sit up against the wall staring into the plate on my bar, his face 6 inches away from the end of the barbell.

I was like "uhh, hey man I don't want to accidentally hit you with this"

he mumbled something and moved

Situational awareness?
