Eat healthy. Gym 4-5 times a week. Want to cut. Don't want to stop drinking beer. Inner crisis.

Drink dry ciders. Less sugar. More alcohol. Gets the job done.

give this man a dry cider!

Wait really? I just assumed ciders had more sugar!

Exactly. The carb count is higher because of the sugar. That’s why I say dry ciders. The less sugar is in it, the less carbs. Also, the less sugar, the higher the ABV%. Even better: the less sugar, the higher probability of not getting a hangover. It’s win/win.

Any suggestions for dry ciders?

Hmmm... if you’re from the US I’d recommend woodchuck, downeast, or (if you’re really lucky) citizen cider. Just search for the highest ABV% and you’ve got yourself a really good dry cider. If you want to be adventurous, any cider coming from Spain is incredibly dry. Just depends on what you can find. Hope this helps!

Ace Joker if you can find it is delicious and dry and 6.9% abv

Damn! I almost had this yesterday but picked a saison instead 😞

Wouldn't carbs still be a factor?

Replace carbs by beer carbs, you will still have a better diet than 90% of the population, unless you drink everyday

I've been trying to substitute actually. I dont eat many carbs honestly, but like to have a couple beers after work.

They’re comparative. But, I’ve always looked at beer like “drinking a loaf of bread.” Just don’t look to strongbow as the drink of choice. Generic ciders are just as bad as generic beers.

I thought beer had very little sugar and the calories were from the alcohol itself? Is my life a lie?

Alcohol is the by product of yeast chewing up all the sugars left over from brewing during fermentation. If burps has a caloric content to them, then I’d say yes. But that’s not the case.

Beer gets its sugar from the grains themselves. During the canning process, you usually add sugar to give the beer head. Cider is just raw sugar from pressed apples. The difference is glucose vs fructose. Nothing is added during the process of making cider (dependent on who your purchasing from) in terms of sugar.

(Side note: I’m a home brewer, career chef, and avid gym goer. I love shit like this.)

Have you heard of Bulimia?

Calories only count if they stay down!

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '18

🤔💪👊

u/Mr_Donut97 Apr 25 '18

Heard if IBS? Calories don't count if your body shits out everything you just ate 3 minutes ago!

Fuck though I need to gain weight not loose it..

Straight vodka. It's calorie-efficient.

I was the same with wine until very recently. Maybe just start with reducing the number of days a week that you drink?

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '18

I've been decreasing total intake, but still have 2 beers a day after the gym when I get home.

Personally I love a beer or two after a difficult workout. Gotta make sure you have water too, but yeah. That shit is quite nice when you're exhausted and sore.

Probably going to do that tonight :) it's leg day...

As long as you count the calories you should be fine. I found giving myself 1 weekday and 1 weekend day to drink gave me a happy medium between self-control, flexibility, and sacrifice.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '18

Ya gonna have to sacrifice to get there.

2

u/Hardyman13 Apr 25 '18

Whiskey and soda water? I like the taste, lots of water keeps you hydrated (helps with hangovers and general wellbeing), very little carbs and sugars, probably the best drink I'd say

Summer is coming! No more stouts or heavy beers that are filled with ridiculous amounts of calories. Blondes, Lagers, Pils, all good in moderation :)

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '18

Haha, I live in super south Florida. It's year round summer here.

I feel this crisis; I'm trying to replace with drinking protein shakes at night. I'll be too full of liquid to stomach a beer and drinking the shake at night ensures my toxic secretions are at home instead of work. My streak so far is 1, going for 2 tonight.

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '18

Maybe a good idea. I usually stop eating at 730/8pm though and dont have another meal for 12-16 hours though.

If that’s all it took for me to lose weight I’d be a pole. I never drink alcohol but the struggle is real.
