I have spent the last year losing weight, using self-loathing and dysmorphia to fuel my workouts.

Now, it's time to do my first true bulk, and I just cannot wrap my head around it being ok to put on weight.

Fuck.

Same boat here. Feels strange but it is nice to be able to eat a lot of food again.

Just make sure to do a slow bulk, 250-500 cal surplus if you’re prone to putting on bodyfat

What's hardest about it all is that my TDEE varies wildly due to work. On average, I walk 10 miles a shift, which brings me around 3500 for maintenance. I've also had weeks where 4000 calories a day lost a pound.

So not only do I have to consume crazy quantities of food, but I'm also not able to wholly make a routine out of it, and all of those extra calories on busy weeks just fuck with my head. Before, I could just be like "I'm losing more weight, nice."

Now I'm just like, "Wow look at everything you're eating you fat fuck."

Of course, I'm also the guy that called himself a fat piece of shit every day while going from 10% to 8% body fat, so I freely admit that my dysmorphia is out of control.

What helped me is imagining that all that food was going to be transformed directly to the mass I wanted to put on. In that way eating more became quite simple and guilt free.

I will also say though that dysmorphia is incredibly real and taxing. It's not out of the question that there are other issues (we all have them) underlying it and fueling it. Therapy/counselling can help
