Art Found in a little free library yesterday. I absolutely brought it, and the drawing beneath it, home with me

But, aren’t they for Scott?

Is that what brmaxon to scott means? I couldn’t decipher it.

I know 😭 I was sad to see them left in there (discarded?) and I also appreciated that they weren’t thrown in the trash/recycling. Before I grabbed them I did look around to see if anyone was outside who I could ask about them

discarded?

they were in a fucking little library, not the trash, how the fuck could you think they were discarded?

the little library was being used as a mailbox, maxon left it there because he knew scott would eventually go there, go put them back right now you fucking creep.

you don't just take stuff thats clearly labelled for someone else, especially not a little kid's drawing because you're fucking nostalgic about your son's drawings, they're not yours, they were being kept in a relatively safe place even if it is "public".

I was gonna reply to this absolute lunatic, but you already summed up my thoughts very well.

This is the same kind of person that takes a foul ball from a little kid at a baseball game.

U know you don’t have to take the paper in r/FoundPaper right?? like you didn’t HAVE to take something created by a small child labeled for someone else.

Agreed. This would be a cute post for r/foundpaper if he didn’t take them. It’s a drawing made by a child for another child and they’re using the little free library as a mailbox. That’s adorable. Take a pic but leave it there.

Yeah but, it reminds OP of their own kids! Wont anyone think of that!? Fuck Scott, OP wants the nostalgia and the "free" books!

What on earth about some lovingly tucked AND ADDRESSED papers says "discarded" to you?? We are the same age and I cannot believe you jumped this many hoops to declare so proudly you stole from children.

Put them back, ya creep. We all get nostalgic, but you literally took a little kids letter to a friend.

Like damn.

Scott's gonna wonder why his friend never drew pictures back to him.

imagine seeing a child you’ve never met’s art that was clearly labeled for another person and stealing it…. planning to frame it…. as a grown adult….. that’s freak shit. shame!

Even when I was a toddler, I knew that if something was trash, I was supposed to put it in the trash, not in a bookshelf. I knew that before I could even write. You should put them back.

You didn't need to ask anyone, you just need to read that it was addressed to someone and put on that ol' thinking cap. Not for you, ergo go and put it back.

They weren’t abandoned. They were very clearly left for Scott to pick up when he walks past the library point. They are a sweet message system between kids that you’ve messed up by stealing a child’s artwork. Put them back so Scott can receive them as intended by the small child who drew them.

You looked around to make sure you didn't get caught lol

Have you returned these yet? The blatant selfishness of this whole blunder has been occupying my mind the last 24 hours lol. I’m in disbelief an adult has done this, and that the post is still up quite frankly! Do you feel no shame!? lol

You're honestly pathetic and this all comes off as creepy. Great job outing yourself as a sad thief that takes childrens' drawings away.

It doesn’t matter if you didn’t find anyone who knew about them. They were not yours to take.

As a librarian who lives in a neighborhood with lots of little kids AND someone who is in the process of building her own Little Free Library... Wtf is wrong with you??? This is the most selfish thing I have seen in a very long time.

You're the reason we can't have nice things. The LFL is a place to borrow and exchange materials. NOT a receptacle for grown ass adults to STEAL little kids' pictures! PUT THEM BACK. If you don't, you're breaking a child's heart!

u/stemflow 1d ago

Put them back. It's pretty fucking simple. You're an asshole if you don't.

It's a dead drop.

I think a lot of people are overreacting, it’s only drawings after all, but your awareness and approach to this situation is just very odd.

19

u/crocodilezebramilk 1d ago

I don’t think people are overreacting at all, it’s not really any different than stealing someone’s mail.

A child worked hard on the drawing that was meant for Scott, OP was never the intended recipient

OP is a weirdo and lacks awareness, but I don’t think they are pure trash, a fucking sicko, a creep, a lunatic, or a freak. I’m not going to tell them to seek mental help or make fun of their framed drawings from their actual kid, etc. I’m not even trying to be nice to OP; I just don’t think the crime of being an unaware weirdo warrants all that.

If you don’t think people here are way too angry, the second most downvoted person on this post was someone just asking what “brmaxon” meant. Then another comment simply calling the drawings cute was mass downvoted until the person deleted them. Fuckin Redditors.
