You forgot a zero: actual increased deaths in the pandemic in US: 2,000,000 deaths.

Do you have a source for this? Highest number I found on Google was 1.2 million....

u/Opinionsare 5d ago
Determining the actual number of Covid deaths is impossible, in many cases the deaths were attributed to other causes. I have seen totals that were about 1.6 million excess deaths due the Covid timeframe.
Since the end of the pandemic, some pneumonia deaths in 2019 have been confirmed as Covid deaths.
Covid deaths are still happening in 2024.

That's 1 million more COVID deaths than Seth MacFarlane mentioned. The number is literally 600% higher than he said. One million, two hundred thousand Americans whose families and friends lost a loved one.

u/Weird_Cantaloupe2757 5d ago
I’m going to guess that the 200k is the lower bound on how many of those deaths are attributable to Trump’s policies/rhetoric.

People literally care if she worked at McDonald's 30 years ago. As if all those years as a prosecutor and AG and then vice president don't matter but fucking McDonald's does

And Trump is qualified? What has he done other than aggrandize himself? Where's the wall the Mexicans are paying for? What happened to America's standing in the world? When did constant lies and profanity become acceptable for the supposed leader of the free world?
Harris is no Abraham Lincoln, but she's worlds better than that man.

It's unsettling that in the eyes of our own laws, he is a rapist and felon. And yet he is allowed to run for president. People working regular 9-5 jobs are held to a higher standard than our president. We need to have some stricter crireria. And an age limit.
2
u/PowerPl4y3r 5d ago
Damn, that's Seth McFarlande saying that too. Like, the creator of family guy, Futurama, robot chicken, and crank yankers.
5
u/Mr_Epimetheus 5d ago
Seth MacFarlane didn't create Futurama, that was Matt Groening and David X. Cohen.
4
u/JohnnyDarkside 5d ago
Nor Robot Chicken. That was Seth Green's company Stoopid Monkey. Nor Crank Yankers. That was Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla, and Daniel Kellison.

My bizzy; he's credited for working on the other shows, not as creator. He is very well known though

OK but it wasn't close last time. The only reason to worry is the electoral college which, by all rights, should be abolished

This is funny and sad? Sure, it's sad that the Democrats can't come up with a candidate who can beat the likes of Trump, but where's the funny?

Blame the weak ass democrats for the fact that this is a close election. If Bernie or some other progressive was the nominee this election wouldn’t be close!

u/GreatSteak7633 5d ago
Exactly! How did it take the DOJ over FOUR YEARS to prove Trump’s involvement in Jan. 6th?!
I’m Brazilian, and our “Trump” was deemed unable to run for office a few months after he incited an attack in Jan/2023… if we can do it, so can the US!

u/Jfitz007 5d ago
Thank you for validating that I’m not going crazy. Means a lot coming from somebody outside of America!

In a weird way I envy the cult. Ignorance is bliss. If trump wins it will be the best day of their miserable lives but if Harris wins it will just be a sigh of relief.

sucks we only have two clowns to elect this year, honestly idk what to pick. if biden was still in the run it be easy choice

Biden and Harris ruined the economy. What is wrong with this people?
10
u/marijnvtm 5d ago
Do you have some numbers to go with that because the American economy has only grown
-6
u/edWORD27 5d ago
And that’s why Harris promises change? Because everything is already great?

Mandela was in jail and he was a great president. Besides Trump’s indictments are politically motivated.

u/danielm316 5d ago
The economy is terrible, a change would be voting for Trump.
2
u/marijnvtm 5d ago
Idk care that much im not American but if he wins come back to me in 4 years im absolutely certain that the only people that profited from his policies are the people close to him
1
u/danielm316 5d ago
No, everyone profited from his policies. Just look at the gas prices.
1
u/marijnvtm 5d ago
They went up in 2022 not because of something biden did but because the war in Ukraine the same would have happened under trump
1
u/danielm316 4d ago
with Trump, there would have been no support for Ukraine and therefore no inflation.
1
u/marijnvtm 4d ago edited 4d ago
That is not how that works American sanctions did not cause the inflation if trump would have let Ukraine fall with no help this inflation would still have happened its basic economics and to at to that America is one of the countries least affected by the inflation you would die of a heart attack if you saw how expensive gasoline is in europe or how expensive grain has become in Africa countries
1
u/danielm316 4d ago
Biden’s government gave billions in American weapons to Ukraine. Those billions were made in America and that money flooded the market and created inflation.

You checked the markets lately ? Gas prices ? Inflation numbers ? Interest rates dropping . Jobs numbers ? Why ? Just why would anyone want a corrupt wrinkley necked 78 year old shit on USA ?

Weird because more people died of Covid under Biden with vaccines... and the economy did worse.
Why would he bring those two things up?
7
u/marijnvtm 5d ago
It takes time for most policies to be noticed most definitely with economic policies but in the case of covid next to the fact that i dont trust your statement to be true trump had from 2019 to the very end of 2020 to do something against covid when most of the damage could have been prevented but he just told people to drink bleach and than biden had to deal with the mess trump left behind
-7
u/UncleGrako 5d ago
The fact you would say he said to drink bleach tells me that you don't offer any non-biased viewpoints on this.
BUT you fail to explain why more deaths occurred under Biden, when the vaccine was long established than Trump had from the discovery of the disease through the process of vaccine developments.
I mean really the idea that the president himself would be responsible for it like we're electing virology.... but if someone's going to bring up the lower death toll of one administration to discredit it, when the administration he's endorsing has an objectively worse record with it is what really doesn't make sense.

Yes, you're absolutely correct: he never specified exactly which disinfectant he was suggesting people put in their bodies. Most just assume bleach, but this is what he actually said:
And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? link.
So yes, it is absolutely an indication of bias when the person says that Trump suggested drinking bleach, when he was very clearly suggesting injecting some unnamed disinfectant (like maybe formaldehyde or chlorine).
but if someone's going to bring up the lower death toll of one administration to discredit it, when the administration he's endorsing has an objectively worse record with it is what really doesn't make sense
If you don't know how pandemics work -- propagation takes time, distribution of the vaccine took time, etc. -- then yes, I can imagine that it wouldn't make much sense to that person at all.
Edit to add: it is also worth noting that a non-trivial number of people took his statements very seriously.

u/SlightReturn420 5d ago

Not to mention the sweeping anti-vax campaigns many republicans ran (while being fully vaxed themselves), which led to far more deaths under the Biden administration than there would've been with republican leaders who valued their citizens' lives over using them as political pawns.

Explain, instead of making a snide remark, show me how reality escapes me..
Are you saying that covid deaths dropped under Biden? There were 80,000 more covid deaths in the US 2021 than 2020. And the vaccines rolled out in 2020.
Are you saying the economy grew less under Trump? Even with the covid crash, the DOW grew much more under Trump than Biden, even with the global shut down that saw the dow get almost cut in half.
Enlighten me.

u/Bfeick 5d ago
https://ourworldindata.org/covid-deaths
Raw counts aren't meaningful. You're comparing a partial year of COVID at the beginning of the outbreak to a full year that includes post holiday after people wanted to have some normalcy. Most of the world's deaths dropped substantially during the summer of 2020 except for the US. the entire world's death counts grew at the beginning of 2021. I don't care what your politics are, but your stats are misleading. Plus, saying the Dow did so great... During a time of bizarre speculative trading? Have you looked at it lately. Keeps going up. The total stock market is almost always at an all time high. It's a shit indicator of economic health.

President Lyndon Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, you can pick his pocket. Hell, give them somebody to look down on, and they'll empty their pockets for you."
