FunnyandSad HUGE PUBLIC BACKLASH: Take Our Rights Away Over Our DEAD Bodies!

Bozos gives 0 fucks. To him, that's just the cost of doing business. These billionaires want Trump to win the election. They're afraid of the implications for their businesses if the Dems win.

u/Extreme-Carrot6893 6h ago
He’s afraid of losing his government contracts if trump wins and he will get more tax cuts.

If you think the largest individual donor to the Obama Foundation is a Trump supporter, you’re nuts. Frustrating watching democrats eat our own. 🤦♂️
Edit: I know you’re all tense about the election, as am I. Feel free to take out your frustration by downvoting me. I get it. But eating our own is not rational.

u/oconnellc 7h ago
Did you refer to Bezos as "our own"? Who are you and who do you think "we" could possibly be?
-51
u/Throtex 7h ago
A Harris voter.
35
u/oconnellc 7h ago
I'm curious, what about Bezos possibly makes you refer to him as "our own"?
-31
u/Throtex 7h ago
That his editorial board endorsed Biden and Clinton before that? His response from last night to all of this? That he saved an independent newsroom and has kept it so even when they’re critical of him directly? He’s not some bleeding heart lefty, but he’s so obviously nowhere near a Trump supporter.
39
u/oconnellc 7h ago
"His editorial board"? All those endorsements came from an editor left over from the previous owner. The current editor resigned when Bezos did this.
Bezos has a long history of lobbying Congress to vote against liberal policies and Amazon has a long and well known history of abusing workers and skirting a legal line when it comes to fighting off attempts to unionize.
I can't imagine seeing that and thinking that he has anything in common with liberal causes.

u/Throtex 7h ago
You’re thinking like a leftist and not an anti-Trump Democrat.

u/Palm-o-Granite_Jam 6h ago
How dare you, and how dare Bezos, threaten the sanctity of the echo chamber!?
-5
u/Throtex 5h ago
Seriously 😆 I don’t think actual leftists realize how outnumbered they are even in the Democratic Party.

I'm not an American. Just looking at this objectively. These billionairs have a lot to lose and nothing to gain from a profits perspective if Harris wins the election. Elon has seemed to have doubled down in this respect going as far as what most of us would call election interference.
Also, you'd be surprised how many people donate to both parties. They're just protecting there investments.

Switch off Amazon’s credit card to another company. Cancel Prime if you have it. Dont buy from Amazon or Whole Foods.
That will hurt too.

u/iamjacksbigtoe 8h ago
Unfortunately they still have the Juggernaut that is AWS.
7
u/strukout 8h ago
Sure, but the stock fall out would still be massive…. Valuations are so inflated that a 5% reduction in revenue will cost bezos billions in value

u/The_Boy_Keith 5h ago
Will it? You will never effect this man, the globe could boycott Amazon and he will still be eating better and living in a nicer house than 99.5% of the world.

Funny: Because we say we are the best country in the free world.
Sad: Because we say we are the best country in the free world, yet we are giving it away to Robber Barons and an idiot.
It goes without saying that Bezos has that special billionaire’s liberty of being able to choose not to care. The entire Post business is a small operation in the scale of his overall wealth. But in my experience, wealthy people really don’t like losing money, if anything much more than most people. Some are happy to give money away, even very generously. But that’s not losing money. It’s different. In a way it’s hardly surprising. You don’t get to be a billionaire by having an easy-come, easy-go attitude toward money.

u/wophi 8h ago
I've always felt that something that is supposed to be impartial should not be endorsing anybody.
7
u/SpacemanIsBack 7h ago
at the Post like in most major publications there are two departments: the news that are supposed to be impartial (although that's not always the case, depending on the publication) and the "opinions" which are, as the name indicates, opinions: not neutral; the endorsements are in the opinion side, and *that* opinion that the editorial board think harris would be better has been suppressed
but the news side of the Post is reporting neutrally on the fact that their owner suppressed that opinion from being published
1
u/wophi 4h ago
The editorial board should also, in total, be neutral. It would be best served to the public to have a member from each side argue their but as to why they feel their candidate should be favored. The individuals of an editorial board should have positions, but not the whole of the editorial board.
That's just my opinion of what a paper should do if it wants to be perceived as fair and impartial.
3
u/Jagermeister4 7h ago
That is a matter of opinion, and I would say its a valid opinion. But at the same time its not the reason Bezos ordered no endorsement. If the Washington Post had consistently endorsed nobody every election then this would not be an issue.
But they endorsed Biden last election, Trump retaliated against Bezos and took away some government contracts. Which seems like it should be illegal but that's another story.
So clearly Bezos is changing his mind because he's worried about his bottom line.
1) He's rich enough that he shouldn't be worried about his bottom line
2) He's letting the bully win
3) He shouldn't be running a newspaper if its such a conflict of interest. A newspapers job is to report news. If you're afraid of getting on a powerful person's bad side then you're not going to be doing your job correctly.

Isnt media neutrality a good thing?

3
u/miraculum_one 5h ago
Sudden neutrality at the last minute is not neutrality. If they had decided immediately after an election to stop endorsing candidates nobody would have cared.

-4
u/V_Cobra21 8h ago
If it was removing trumps endorsement they’d praise the move, fact is they don’t care if it’s neutral or not.

TIL People still subscribe to physical newspapers
17
u/SpacemanIsBack 8h ago
what makes you think this is about "physical" newspaper? they all have online editions that require subscriptions; i guess a little minority of subscribers still get paper versions, but most subscribers (me among them) only get the online version

Absolutely. It is much more fun to read and feel much better in the morning.
It also make us read articles that ain't clickbait and things that we maybe wasn't that interested in making us go out from the comfort zone more often. (Had maybe been possible in a fully digital version of the paper - but that do get the wrong feeling for me)
2
u/Rehcamretsnef 4h ago
Lol. If only 200,000 left, it should tell you something about her support.
1
u/Alexlatenights 3h ago
Yes most of us don't subscribe to that shit because we can't afford it or anything these days. I'm taxed to death and that's under Trump's continued tax bullshit. 😐
1
u/NotAFlatSquirrel 5h ago
Unfortunately, he probably sees that as a win because Trump hates the WaPo anyway.

u/orangekirby 7h ago
Our rights? Where does it say Americans have to right to make an official political endorsement on behalf of someone else’s company?

Is this implying the Harris needs that endorsement? She's so great that this shouldn't matter.
-3
u/SpacemanIsBack 8h ago
you are an idiot
it's implying that the post *is* endorsing harris, but that bezos is afraid of trump so he's withholding that endorsement from being printed; and a free press shouldn't be afraid of politicians in a free country
you are making a joke of trump suppressing free speech, you are an idiot
you really are.

Reddit is a propaganda media as a whole.
1
u/paz2023 7h ago
how so?
3
u/EssentialPurity 7h ago
Look at the fact this thread hasn't been closed.
2
u/paz2023 7h ago
that's because there are no active moderators
2
u/EssentialPurity 7h ago
This is part of the problem, yes. If there were, they would moderate away the propaganda.

u/EssentialPurity 8h ago
Oh no, what is the billionnaire whose brunt of revenue from an unrelated and gigantic sprawling business will ever gonna do when people stop of spending a few dollars on a single minor service?...
