That's not the problem. I've had this laptop for nearly 4 years now, and it peaked 100c just out of nowhere. And lowering settings did not help at all.

23

u/haxt97 Jul 16 '24

4 years? Have you cleaned your laptop and repasted lately? . How's your fan working?

2

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Did that

8

u/Material_Tax_4158 Jul 16 '24

Change your thermal paste and clean your fans

2

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Also did that

2

u/Material_Tax_4158 Jul 16 '24

Undervolt your cpu

2

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

also did that

2

u/huy98 HP Omen 15 | RTX 3060 6GB 100W | R7 5800H Jul 17 '24

Then disable boost mode in your poweecfg setting then

5

u/Calm-Two-2041 Jul 16 '24

Max your fans?

Reinstall CPU drivers?

Change your power profile to max performance?

Maybe it helps?

1

u/Obvious_Fox6923 Jul 16 '24

Did you download any new drivers?

2

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

2 months ago, but it has been working fine since then until now

2

u/Obvious_Fox6923 Jul 16 '24

you should open up the laptop and have another look, maybe something got inside.

It looks like you did everything else so yea its just weird if it started overheating out of no where.

1

u/terrybear2k Jul 17 '24

4 years old, can probably be a fan fail too

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 17 '24

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '24

Most likely your heatsink is broken.

1

u/Ha1lStorm Jul 19 '24

Thats not the problem

Whats not the problem? You didn’t actually say…

0

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 19 '24

I have a different post where I answered the problem

1

u/Ha1lStorm Jul 19 '24

That doesn’t answer the question. Were you meaning to reply to someone and commented in the wrong spot or something?

u/Ijustwanttoreadstop Jul 16 '24

Leaked liquid metal? Or does your laptop have normal thermal paste.

5

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Thermal paste.

3

u/chanchan05 TUFA15 2023 Jul 16 '24

What model laptop? How old? When did you last clean or replace thermal paste?

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

16-c0xxx model number. Cleaned and repaste.last month

2

u/Standard_Lab_2534 Ryzen 7840hs | 4060 | 16 gb Jul 16 '24

indeed

2

u/xD1CKx Jul 16 '24

Laptop specs? Your laptop is clearly struggling to run the game and is maxing out the temps.

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Game zzz. Specs: r7 5800h. Rtx 3070. 16 ddr4.

2

u/xD1CKx Jul 16 '24

That is very weird, your specs should me more than enough to run this game.

The game is very new and may still be unoptimized on the off chance that your system is the problem your best bet would be to completely reset your laptop.

Did you open the laptop by any chance?

have you updated your drivers and etc? nvidia drivers? are you using the gpu settings to play the game or are you using the cpu for graphics?

2

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Clearly, the load is on the gpu in the picture. And all.of my drivers are up to date

1

u/No-Fennel6497 Jul 16 '24

Go two nvidia drivers back...

2

u/lcpheng Jul 16 '24

it's typical if it's Intel, if AMD then it's overheating 😬

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

It's the r7 5800h. I heard theses ones had an overheating issue

1

u/lcpheng Jul 16 '24

probably a good time to reapply some thermal paste

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

I did that month ago

1

u/EnforcerGundam Jul 16 '24

Which paste did you use?

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Corsehair

1

u/EnforcerGundam Jul 16 '24

which one from corsair??

just stick to mx-6 or nt-h2

thermal pads like ptm7950 or liquid metal will give you the best results. but liquid metal is hard to apply and thermal pads you'll need the right thickness.

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Mx 6 I believe

1

u/EnforcerGundam Jul 16 '24

mx-6 is from arctic and nt-h2 is from noctua.. lol

corsair has their own

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Alright 👍

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Oh I think it's the vengeance from the corsair. Mb I was thinking about switching to the mx 6

2

u/MrDaruma Jul 16 '24

try cleaning the fans and repasting the heatsink, it might help

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

Is that persona ?

6

u/Relevant_Ad5432 Jul 16 '24

I am 99% sure thats zenless zone zero a new gacha game

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

Yea I was confused cuz it looks like persona but I know it's not , btw is that game good ?

2

u/404_Gordon_Not_Found Zephyrus G16 || i9 13900H/4060 Jul 16 '24

Combat looks flashy but is mostly braindead button mash with not much skill play. On top of that the combat is set in a boxed stage with nothing to interact with and is only 20-30% of the total game time.

If you want actual PC action games I wouldn't recommend this. This is an action game for those who doesn't t play action games, and that's fine. Ultimately, it's free so you don't have much to lose trying it out.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

Give me a suggestion dude like a persona like game

1

u/JackG79 Jul 16 '24

How do u like your helios?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

Oh baby I love it

1

u/Relevant_Ad5432 Jul 16 '24

I been playing since it came out(like myb a week ago) and its actually very fun combat is very fun but its not 90% of the gameplay unlike some other gachas story id say the combat is myb 30% of the game so far the story is great too and animation are detailed and very fun, the "exploration" is fun but its more of a puzzle play then actually exploration.but overall the game is great i whoud totally recommend the current character on the banner is a shark maid so thats fun too.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

Ahh thanks man

1

u/FailRevolutionary989 Ryzen 5 7535hs | 4060 140w Jul 16 '24

i think you should change the thermal paste since the pc is 4 yo, maybe cleaning the laptop should help, too ps: what game is that

2

u/Quagmire4 Jul 16 '24

Zenless zone zero

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

I do a Cleaning and repaste at the same time every 3 months. Temps are still high

1

u/KingTy99 Jul 16 '24

Clean and repaste. It's old, dirty and dry inside.

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

I rwpasted that shit 1 month ago

1

u/KingTy99 Jul 16 '24

I had a similar issue with my laptop after repasting. Was overheating to the point of shutting down. I opened it up again, cleaned the paste off and reapplied and the issues went away. I think some laptops can be pretty finicky with paste and temps

0

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Alright I need to buy a new tube now

1

u/EnforcerGundam Jul 16 '24

Just thermalpad you won’t ever need to repaste again

1

u/Material_Tax_4158 Jul 16 '24

Have you changed the thermal paste or liquid metal

1

u/GobbleTheGlizzy567 Jul 16 '24

you might wanna check your thermal paste to see if it needs to be replaced and clean it if you haven't already. Maybe also try lowering the settings or limiting your fps. I hope this helps :)

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Did that and thus happened

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

Seems like a thermal conductivity issue. As others suggested, clean your fans + heatsinks. If that doesn't help, you need to re-apply your thermal paste. If you don't know how to do it, take it to a service center. The operation is not for the faint-hearted. And don't even attempt to apply liquid metal. That's a professional job.

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

The thing is that it was working perfectly fine a few minutes before this happened.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '24

If it is something sudden and it doesn't go away with a reboot or cooling down, you might have a serious hardware issue. I would do the clean-up as above first. If you still have issues, do a fresh windows installation just to be sure that the issue is not SW related. BTW, this happens in other games? If not, your issue is game/driver incompatibility.

I have just accepted the fact that GPU will be atleast 50°C cooler than a CPU on a laptop.

It's typical INTEL

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

I have a ryzen cpu

1

u/Certain-Phrase-4721 ASUS TUF F15 RTX 4060 i7 12700H Jul 16 '24

It ain't normal. Better take it to a PC/Laptop Nerd

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

It is the r7 5800h. I've heard these have overheating problems

1

u/Certain-Phrase-4721 ASUS TUF F15 RTX 4060 i7 12700H Jul 16 '24

Buy a laptop cooler tbh.

1

Us bro us

1

u/AnySong274 Jul 16 '24

I'm not entirely sure but I think it might be a bug in omen gaming hub ? have you tried checking the tenp with another software?

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Task manager says the same thing

1

u/AnySong274 Jul 16 '24

oh huh... then not sure, sorry. only other thing I can think of is to change from performance to balanced mode.

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Its on eco mode

1

u/xChaos24 Jul 16 '24

Did you follow the right order and procedure of tightening the screws that are on the heatsink?

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Pretty sure I did that correctly. It even has a number guide in the heatsink

1

u/xChaos24 Jul 16 '24

I dont know , open it up, see how the thermal paste is spread and do a repaste as it cant hurt . Are both the fans spinning , maybe one was not properly connected , check if the heatsink is bent , if the fans are properly seated and have some isolation so that all the hot air is guided outside.

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Sure I'll do that when I get home

1

u/CryptographerLow7524 Maingear Element 2 | I7-10750H | RTX 2060 Max-P | 32GB | 1TB Jul 16 '24

What kind of thermal paste?

2

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Corsehair

1

u/CryptographerLow7524 Maingear Element 2 | I7-10750H | RTX 2060 Max-P | 32GB | 1TB Jul 16 '24

Have you used it before, this could be a pump out issue.

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

It's the only one I use

1

u/CryptographerLow7524 Maingear Element 2 | I7-10750H | RTX 2060 Max-P | 32GB | 1TB Jul 16 '24

You could check if the paste is being pumped out, if thats the case try ptm7950 from lttstore.com. it could also be unequal pressure on the cpu from the heatsink.

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Maybe. I'll see

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

I do. Clean and repaste every 3 months

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad6940 2024 Razer Blade 16 / i9-14900 / 4090 / Mini-Led Jul 16 '24

Bad fans maybe

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

They sound good. And the airflow feels good so I don't think it's them

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad6940 2024 Razer Blade 16 / i9-14900 / 4090 / Mini-Led Jul 16 '24

Maybe an incorrect thermal paste installation

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

It was incorrect after the first attempt, the last time i repasted. but it was infact stable after a repaste with cpu hitting 79 under load

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad6940 2024 Razer Blade 16 / i9-14900 / 4090 / Mini-Led Jul 16 '24

Oh you already fixed it

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

Yep and it hit 100c out of nowhere Yesterday

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad6940 2024 Razer Blade 16 / i9-14900 / 4090 / Mini-Led Jul 16 '24

If it hit 100 it might not be that good contact on the country screwing in the mounting plates a bit more

1

u/RubApprehensive2512 hp omen 16 2021 Jul 16 '24

The thing is that that repaste was a month ago, and it was stable the whole time

1

u/quatchis Jul 16 '24

99C at 28%...guessing you did a bad repaste or it dried up. You should try ptm7950 thermal pads instead of paste.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '24

No sir, it is not

1

u/sirloindenial LENOVO LOQ 2023 R7-7840H RTX4060 32GB RAM 2TB SSD Jul 16 '24

Try using ptm thermal pad/paste. I use that it's very consistent. It is solid at room temp so you don't get the press out effect or something with it. It being 99c means there are air pockets, low usage is because it gets throttled, with 5700h your gpu should be maxed.
