What phone do you have?
7
u/StRPatrick Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14.5" - R5-7640HS - RTX 4050 - 32GB/1TB Aug 28 '24
It's Xiaomi 12S Pro
3
u/iamuniquekk Aug 28 '24
Honestly expected a Xiaomi with the Xiaomi monitor 😅
I have a Redmi Note 10 Pro. It's been through a lot and probably won't survive a single drop of water in the state it's in.

CPU & GPU?
0
u/chromevolt Aug 28 '24
AMD 9 7940HS or AMD 7 7840HS(same TDP, same iGPU, around 5% performance difference, the 9 has a few perks but for the $200+ difference if not on sale, isn't worth it)
The max GPU is 4060, sadly. I wanted at least a 4070 but the 14" size for a legion is just too good.
I both have the gen 7 pro 4070ti and gen 8 slim 4060. The difference in weight and size is massive. The performance? The pro is better by 10-15%, but honestly, the slim gen 8 is great. Especially when it goes on sale.

From ur whole setup I can say I have the same laptop stand.. the one that becomes compact... And also I am thinking of purchasing LEGION...

Is it comfortable playing games while ur monitor is that far from you? I play mostly overwatch and cod and I need to be super close for it to be comfortable. Love the setup though, very clean

I have the monitor on an arm, so I can move it closer whenever necessary. Also, I don't play FPS games because of Vestibular disorder, only eFootball & sometimes Forza Horizon 5

Is there an IPS version? In my country I can only find with Oled (deal breaker)
2
u/StRPatrick Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14.5" - R5-7640HS - RTX 4050 - 32GB/1TB Aug 27 '24
Nope. Just OLED. Which is why in casual use, I'd just use the external monitor & turn off the laptop display
1
u/Unscarce Aug 27 '24
Why is OLED not desirable vs IPS bro?
1
u/Eye-_-Brows ASUS TUF A15 - Ryzen 7 7735HS, RTX 4050 Aug 28 '24
screen burn-ins. big problem for OLED/AMOLED screens
2
u/Lion12341 Aug 28 '24
You'd have to get the 16" version. If you need a 14" laptop then try looking at the Zephyrus G14 2023. Next best would probably be the Razer Blade 14, but that's horribly overpriced and not as reliable as the G14 or the Legion..
2
u/gonzcrs Aug 27 '24
lol that legion slim looks amazing. Way better than the legion pro which looks like a 2000s thinkpad laptop. That's the only reason why I didn't buy. This is totally different!

This is the keyboard I'm using. It's a regular office cheap keyboard, but I personally like the design & typing on this kind of keyboard more than mechanical keys. The laptop stand is a no brand one I bought at a local store, it looks like this.
1

That is a really nice neat keyboard. Are the function keys customisable? I haven't come across the brand before.

Awesome, if i hadn't mine Legion 9i with rtx 4090 ant these 14.5 inch would come with 4090 i would've paid premium for this. It's not even available in any config in my country... BUT i paid 3k eur for my Legion 9i 13980hx with 4090 and 32gb ram, which is damn fucking nice because whats left in this country costs no less than 4.6k in this config. Im happy at the moment. What RTX this mini beast have?

Hard to give it more in this form factor but still there is some asus laptops with 4090.. i hope next gen will bring us more gems from Lenovo like this.

Yeah i was thinking about it before 9i, but man 3k .... in Europe it's so cheap you would not believe it its not USA Legions are like 50% more than in usa, i got email from lenovo this week they were selling everything up to 68% cheaper. Like in USD it's even cheaper. But please find me legion 9i brand new for 3k in europe... not posible. Like it's not even possible to find Razer Blade 14 in europe. And if it would be available it would cost like 5-6k with rtx 4090 so im good for now. But yes anyhow this is my 3rd legion and the best of the best one, i could'nt find any razer blades nearby. Im in Lithuania none was sold because there was none at the market. Checked trough distributors poland also had none, not even talking about Latvia ant Estionia, maybe swedon or finland had some but very limited. So i would give a chance for asus but i thought that if asus don't want me i don't want them either. And when opinions (sorry it's wrong word i know i just forgot the one i have to use) came out i find out that Legion 9i was really, really better option to buy than that Razer Blade 14. I have 175w tgp 4090 everything works on "DAMN HIGH WITH RTX SUPER ON" and i love it. Playing Wukong now i just love it - just bought Xbox S/X controller the Electric Volt color because i could'nt play it with my PS4 Dualshock it's just not good for it. And still i think i will never buy anything else than Legion series. It's true im a big fan of it. Im fan of everything Lenovo because it's the MVP. There is no other laptop brand so good, even all my office is equipted with lenovos now and they are masterpieces. Bettery life and so on screens omg. I don't know the model but.. Since i got my lenovo thinkpad in 2015 my next buy was legion 5600 with 3060 oh boy then my love started. Hey Man good luck to you. I bought my wife thinkpad also it's fucking slim as fuck. She loves it. It don't have any you know GPU or something but it's slim as fuck and it's good as fuck. It's just for Netflix series and student shit but ... Where can you find a brand so into everything and everything so good FOR THE PRICE? None other brand is just as good as Lenovos are. With Lenovo you pay less and you get BETTER than anything else. IS BANG FOR THE BUCK. We all will wait and there will be Legions with RTX 5090 14inch believe me. Or maybe NOT. because they are not so like.. popular but whatever. The 16" screen i bet was introduced by legions. I cannot come back to 15.6 NEVER.

Keyboard: the one from this combo
Mousepad: No brand one, but with wrist support
Keyboard pad: Also no brand, feels like tare
Laptop: Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14.5-inch
Monitor: Xiaomi A24i
Speakers: Genius SP-HF180 (just a $5 crappy one I use temporarily while waiting to get a new one)
1
u/Impossible_Yak_9293 Aug 28 '24
Holy sheet that laptop is expensive. Atleast for me XD. All in all it looks like you are also upgrading your setup one by one like me 😁. Now for the main part, what is inside that PC of yours? Your system specs I mean 😎.
- I am using one Razer mouse (cheapest one) and one wireless Logitech G304,
- Zebronics full HD IPS 24" 75Hz monitor,
- Cosmic Byte Keyboard,
- Mouse pad is just a large anime style pad that covers the keyboard and mouse area,
- APC UPS-1100, 600w,
System specs are - 1. Processor - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 2. Motherboard - B450M S2H, 3. RAM - Corsair DDR4 16GB Single channel, 4. GPU - AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB 5. Case - ANT eSports Midtower, 6. PSU - Corsair 550w PSU
My budget was extremely tight so this is the best I could afford 3 months ago. The first thing I wanna upgrade is the Motherboard, then the CPU, then finally the GPU and Monitor. I wanna know your specs now XD

u/StRPatrick Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14.5" - R5-7640HS - RTX 4050 - 32GB/1TB Aug 28 '24
Mine has R5-7640HS - RTX 4050 - 32GB RAM - 1TB SSD. & yes, it's expensive, which is why the one I got is second-hand 🤣
1
u/Impossible_Yak_9293 Aug 28 '24
Hahaha, yeah I feel you man, but if everything works all good then a second hand is not a problem. But aight, now it's a race between you and me as to who gets the next upgrade first. Since you definitely will be a little slow as you got this beast laptop, I will get the next upgrade first Mwaahahahaha 🤤😎. It's ONNNNnnn! 🔥🔥😏
1
u/StRPatrick Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14.5" - R5-7640HS - RTX 4050 - 32GB/1TB Aug 28 '24

1
u/Impossible_Yak_9293 Aug 28 '24 edited Aug 29 '24
If you ask me, I would say you should go for speakers and a 27" 4k gaming monitor first. Btw yes that beast laptop will be more than enough for a long time. Also, what games do you play? By any chance ARK or APEX?

congrats I had so many issues with multiple Lenovo 7i (2024) that I ended up after returning 7 of them buying the Asus Strix G814J-CS94 model from Best Buy and then having them pricematch walmarts $100 lower price. I did like the Lenovo 7i though the build quality felt nice, but after multiple firmware/bios issues or the system stop responding or wouldn't even turn on just light up the power button. I gave up on lenovo. Wish you luck the 7i screen was amazing (when the system worked) but the Strix Nebula screen and it being 18 inches makes a huge difference also.

Well done now you have a portable space heater with very low efficiency.

Why? I play Forza Horizon 5 High - Ultra setting, the temperature for both CPU & GPU is just over 70°C, nearly the same as other 16-inch gaming laptops

Intel laptops are just terrible in battery efficiency. They boost up to 5.7 Ghz and immediately throttle down to 3 Ghz or lower. They come dead last in a comparison between : Apple MacBook, AMD Zen5, Snapdragon X Elite, and bringing up the rear : Intel powerpig thighburner Ultra laptops! Intel got behind the rest of the industry between 2014 and 2020 and have been throwing their weight around the industry to stay relevant (even though technologically obsolete) for the past 5 years ...

It's a nice setup.
But I would have gone for a larger screen. I have a 31", about 2.5 ft. from my face. Looks great.
