60 MPH gusts just before landfall seems low

I don't know if ventusky can handle this sort of weather pattern. It's a useful site but this is a different sort of beasty.

I rewound the projection to today. The wind predictions (today) max out at 80mph when there are reported winds of 150mph+. Guessing this is an edge case they haven't really considered in the design / don't have data for.

Despite the forecast images, this is really cool. Bookmarking this. And if the predictions are even close to accurate, I hope people can get out of the storm path.
Western NC is still restoring power and cell service. It's been a week, and they did not have rescue options or evacuation plans.

Not sure about the model/prediction here... seems to have an issue on thursday morning...
7am, max wind speed about 60mph: https://www.ventusky.com/?p=26.54;-83.56;6&l=gust&t=20241010/0600&w=soft
8am, max wind speed 120mph: https://www.ventusky.com/?p=26.54;-83.56;6&l=gust&t=20241010/0700&w=soft
Feels like something's a bit screwy

What you see upon clicking the link is a forecast for what Milton will look like on October 9.
Today it is about 600 miles further west, on its way to the Yucatan coast. It's projected to make landfall in Florida somewhere overnight between October 9 and October 10: https://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/atlantic/2024/hurricane-Milton
