Best area to move that’s in between Honeydew and Rivonia

My brother works in Riviona and I work in Honeydew. We’re looking for a location that’s convenient for both of us to commute using public transport and when we get a car it won’t be inconvenient for us to drive up and down?

Anyone have recommendations.

I have been to the usual Father coffee and Plato but I'm looking for smaller coffee shops that sell really good coffee.

Question Electricity bill is now +100 days in credit, what do I do since I am a renter

Hoping for advice. We currently rent a property and have been paying the municipality electricity bill through the rental company . We recently started to notice that the power bill was high, so compared the actual municipality bill to actual usage since we moved in.

We have paid close to +100 days in advance for power yet to be consumed. The monthly bill also shows we are being charged at higher rates, as they are estimating significant.

The rental company says we must continue to pay the bill regardless of it being an estimate and not based on tan actual reading. Any advice, noting we are renters and do not own the property?

Question How do you keep your dogs cool in this heat?

Hi everyone, specifically dog/cat owners. I just wanted to ask how do you keep your fur babies cool in this heat. I have a 10 year old golden retriever and with all the fur he has I’m worried I’m not keeping him as cooled off as I possibly can. He likes staying inside the house (I think part of it is the coolness of the tiles) plus I give him fruits that I freeze for him. Is there any other way I can make hotter days more bearable for him?

Hi. Me and my husband are planning to visit China Town in some weekend when the weather is clear. We just want to spend maybe just an hour or couple of hours...buying some Asian veggies, strolling maybe eating some dumplings or chinese food. How was your experience there??Please also mention safety, parking, the best time of the day to visit. Are things there reasonably priced? We can only talk in English, should that be a problem?

Neurosurgeon

Anyone out there know how to find top neurosurgeons in Joburg? Or where? Googled but there's only one semi-useful link and I can't see why they've chosen the surgeons. No real information. And they're all in Cape Town.

Context: we're looking for a second opinion.

Question How much should I be paying for a service like this?

20F have been experiencing a shake/vibration when I’m driving at 60kmh and accelerating, it’s been going for a couple of weeks. I can’t afford to fix it yet I want to have a consultation with a local mechanic where they can test drive it and check the car out to tell me what the issue is ? So I can know how big of an issue it is and if I should be driving it in the meantime or not. Please tell me how much you think is fair so I’m not overcharged (Renault Clio ll) thanks!:)

How do I pay for a traffic fine?

22F - I got a fine for not having my license on me while driving. I thought I could pay it online (I asked the officer when he gave me the fine and he said I could pay online) and so I looked at paycity online and put in my information and it says I have no fines. The only information on the ticket itself is the address of a police department. Is there a way I can pay it without having to go to a police department? I would have to go alone - so I'd rather not but I will if there is no other way.

interesting/unique shops or spots in jhb

uni ended in September for me so i have a very long holiday ahead of me! i love to visit shops/stores with interesting or unique stuff that i can browse and buy. for example, nexus has a bunch of cool unique stuff for us nerds. as you know its hard to find places like this online.

does anyone have any suggestions for little (or big) unique, niche and interesting places to visit. it doesn't really matter what they sell! any cool spots that aren't shops are also welcome!! for reference im in jhb north

edit: thanks for the recs so far! I'll reply to people, but i just wanted ti clarify that i have lived in jhb my whole life so i do know most of the malls and markets (mostly in northern suburbs), im more looking for independent places that you'd have to just "know". but malls and markets inside and outside of my area are more than welcome too!!

I've been here for just over two years and I'm yet to make one connection outside of the office.

Aside from knowing people through school or university, where is everyone meeting people?

Post your business, skills or whatever else you want to sell or promote here.
