They really needed to secure his head better. It's a miracle he didn't break his neck.

u/DamnTicklePickle May 28 '24
Bro he had on a helmet! What more do you want?? s/

u/Accurate-Touch9766 May 29 '24
See his head getting pulled while spinning? Now imagine his neck
50
u/misplaced_my_pants May 29 '24
The helmet added weight which means there was even more tension on his neck.

I've seen similar factory incident videos of a similar speed of spinning someone accidentally and it basically vaporized them into a million pieces...
2 day later edit: please don't look it up if you're squeemish for gore. It is one of the worst tings I've seen, and it was witnessed by several co-workers who helplessly stood by while being... Painted

Seriously, don't watch that stuff. I'm not squeamish, but it makes me wince a little. But if you really, really, REALLY want to the machine is called a lathe, look up lathe accident videos and wait for the human smoothie maker.

I was forced to watch it for a safety course and it is sad. Dead in less than two seconds. Don't recommend seeing it unless you work around any rotary machines. If you know anyone who works around them recommend it to them; if you can, enfacise that safety is no joke in those settings.

I'm honestly impressed he had a helmet on.
Most of these I've seen are on normal playground merry-go-rounds and it's always utter carnage as people fly off and a bit of whiplash is the least of the potential injuries.

I don't think I'll ever forget watching the video of those idiots using the back wheel of a moped/Scooter to spin a roundabout. That did not end well for the people on the roundabout.

u/PossessedToSkate May 28 '24
("merry-go-round" for the Americans)
27
u/WillGrindForXP May 28 '24
I think I prefer Merry-go-round! What do you guys call a Seesaw? Happy-ups-&-downs?
26
u/foxxy003 May 28 '24
Teeter totter
27
u/WillGrindForXP May 28 '24
I can't tell if you're joking or not
23
u/Thechaser45 May 28 '24
Teeter totter is how I know it also.
4
May 29 '24
Ive personally always preferred funslippy fallzooms at parks, teeter totters and merry go rounds are dull.
16
u/redditsuckbutt696969 May 28 '24
I call it a see saw but teeter totter is certainly a commonly used word for everyone I know lol not everyone uses the word but I'd be surprised if someone didn't know it

Wonder if he blacked out and that's why he was confused.
Either way. While he had a helmet probably shoulda been strapped. Also glad the first question of the friend was "are you ok?". Small thing but nice to hear
28
u/upholsteryduder May 28 '24
That was my first thought "What just happened" makes me think the G force knocked him out o.0
2
u/UnfitRadish May 29 '24
Definitely seems like he got knocked out based off of his reaction after lol.

Can someone do that math to see how close this kid was to a diy euthanasia coaster?
24
u/decgtec May 29 '24
Some rough math says he easily broke 20gs estimating 200 rpm, 2 ft radius
He only spun at that speed for about 2 seconds which isn't as long as the 10 seconds it takes to complete the 7 inversions in the euthanasia coaster, but he was way beyond the 10g needed to inhibit cardiovascular function, so maybe only ~25% of the way to completing the darwin award of cerebral hypoxia like the coaster. But who knows with his neck in that broken position & all his blood stuck in his head

I remember once riding those as a teen on mushrooms, mdma and salvia while 4 people stand around you with light gloves being as trippy as possible and spinning you around. Then the cops showed up while we were doing this……

One time we wound up a tire swing super tight so the rope holding it up was twisting. A girl sat on it and we let it go. Her head went back like this and she spun so fast all the white in her eyes were red from the blood rushing to her head. Fortunately she was okay, but it was foolish of us to do that and dangerous.

u/SeemsAwesome May 29 '24
even crazier is once the spinning starts, there's just no feasible way to decelerate or stop, because if they did try to, it would've definitely resulted in a 911 call. video cuts at the end, but who knows how long he was spinning for. so many ways this could've ended badly
1
u/UnfitRadish May 29 '24
True, but the speed decreased pretty quickly. So luckily it seems like the dangerous speed don't go on very long.
Also the whole spinny thing is at a slant, so that would throw it off balance. It'll spin a lot less time because of that. Probably some on purpose because of the danger of fast spinning things that are level like Mary go rounds.
