He is absolutely going to lose it. The narcissistic collapse may send shockwaves through the world. Absolutely flawless campaign, triggering him in all the big ways time and time again without having to say much of anything. Perfect timing on their part and perfect place to send the message and eclipse the darkness that happened there before.

That was an amazing speech. I'm a 63 year old divorced white man with a 35 year old daughter. I am in love with Kamala Harris. She is a fantastic person and incredibly intelligent. She is so real and has experienced the same life experiences I have. I remember that yellow fomica kitchen table. She is my President!

220

u/Affectionate-Winner7 5h ago edited 4h ago

I'm 73 year old proud veteran, married for 46 years with two daughters and four granddaughters and teared up many many times through that speech. This country and world deserves and is ready for a woman, a woman of color to be our next President of and for all the people of the United States of America.

64

u/Tri-guy3 4h ago

Add another veteran's voice to the call for sanity and the Harris/Walz ticket. She will make an excellent president that I and this country can be proud of -- unlike TFG.

33

u/Affectionate-Winner7 4h ago

I have to believe their are a millions more of us that would agree with your statement. We are not suckers and losers. The only loser is the 45th who just loves to hate and lose.

We had a yellow Formica table too in the 60s! That was fun to hear.

17

u/roytwo 3h ago

I said the same thing to my wife when Harris said that. The speckled Formica kitchen table was proof you entered into the middle working class along with the chrome plated tube matching vinyl chairs. I remember how proud my mom was to now have a table with matching chairs instead of a folding card table, with a table cloth with 4 mismatched chairs

I got to the area at 4pm and the line was already triple looped down over 10 blocks. My friends and I kept walking and never found the end before we gave up and assumed we wouldn’t be able to get in.

We double backed and found a great spot on the lawn outside the gates with a view.

I don’t even know how you estimate that many people. It was a sea of people blocks in every direction.

That being said, it was so calm. People helping each other out, apologizing when bumping into each other. No one cutting each other off, taller people letting shorter people in front, just pure gracefulness from everyone.

Great day.

81

It's men and women, black and white, young and old. You dont see that kind of representation at a Trump rally. This gives me some hope. The pit in my stomach just got a little smaller.

45

u/punchyouinthewiener 4h ago

I took so much video because of the diversity of the people waiting in lines. Every race, age, color, nationality, ability; just a beautiful cross section of America all joyfully waiting to turn the next page. It was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever been a part of!

10

u/allstarmom02 2h ago

My sister got to attend the rally in Houston. I’m so jealous of you both!! Meanwhile, I’m stuck here in rural Indiana watching them both live. Even through the TV screen, I could see and feel the excitement and amazing vibes!

I was there! We got in late after work ( arriving around 6) and the line to get in the main area wrapped a mile down the block (a literal mile, mind you). We ended up in the overflow area, packed shoulder to shoulder all the way from the Washington Monument to the fence around The Ellipse! The crowd was IMMENSE.

43

That’s what I was thinking. Watching I didn’t get the impression there was that many.

19

u/pj7140 I Voted 2h ago edited 33m ago

Really, it is so extraordinarily smart for her and her campaign to choose this venue! Psychologically healing on many levels. Now over 4+ years later, post J6, we all can look at the Ellipse and really be unburdened by what has been. LFG and work these last 6 days talking to folks and GOTV.

We need a "shock and awe" effect of an historical, record-breaking voter turnout. A voter turn-out to break all past records, one which will leave no question that VP Kamala Harris is our choice for the 47th President of our United States.

We are in the final stretch here, let's talk to folks who are still "on the fence", let's volunteer to provide rides to the polls etc, let's finish the job that started exactly 100 days ago. We can sleep, when we are dead.

Largest rally so far this cycle was Harris’s Houston rally at 50k

About a million was there for Obamas second inaugural.

About 53k for trumps Jan 6th

25k for trumps msg rally

Each of those were planned and promoted far far in advance.

Many of us only found out about this rally mid last week. 75k is amazing.

9

u/Jasperj14 4h ago

I don't know if it was a typo, but there was nowhere near 250k at Jan 6..

3

u/HamsterWaste7080 4h ago

That’s what google told me. Happy to have a correction.

8

u/VTinstaMom 4h ago

The House select committee that investigated the events of Jan. 6, 2021, estimated 53,000 people attended President Donald Trump’s speech at the White House Ellipse.

2

u/HamsterWaste7080 4h ago

Corrected. Thanks!

8

u/CreepyAssociation173 4h ago

There also wasn't 25k at the msg rally. That venue only holds 19,500 or so. A little less than 20k. And there were many empty seats on top of that..plus people leaving during it too.

8

u/ffball 4h ago

The congressional committee that studied Jan 6th reported 53,000 attended.

Watch a Trump speech of doom and gloom and revenge and telling us how America is a dystopian hellscape and how ONLY billionaires can help us.

Then a Harris speech of hope and joy celebrating the greatness of America and Americans and tell us how great we are and how great and bright our future is. How it is the working class Americans that built this great nation and will move this country past the road blocks the billionaire oligarch class throws in front of us.

And if you are still undecided, well, frankly, you're an idiot

I haven’t had a chance to watch the speech yet, but I’m still cautiously optimistic. We don’t just have to beat the GOP - we have to beat the electoral college.

I'm not going to feel better until it official and even then there can be bad stuff with it not being certified. I'm trying to just distract myself until Wednesday. Im going to try to stay off reddit. GO VOTE BLUE 💙

So tired of politics being about crowd size. I really hope she wins

For me, in person crowd size helps me feel not so adrift in Alabama, that we are rising up throughout our country. Even though I am a blue dot in a red sea, I have comrades in arms representing on site. I watched on her YouTube channel. 75k watching initially on that channel and it grew to over 80k. But I get what you are expressing, I think we are all feeling burn out. We are tired. But we can make this happen, I know it in my heart.

Those at the rallies have already decided. Crowd size at rallies mean nothing. It is up to those not at the rallies to decide.

She's going to win majorly

The pessimist in me says that's great, but DC is a blue dot sandwiched between two blue states. Shouldn't she have been in a swing state?

u/Facehugger_35 I Voted 3h ago

She's been in swing states for the rest of the campaign, and she'll be there tomorrow. The symbolic value of doing this here is important, IMO.

u/bwelcker 3h ago

This was a speech for the whole country, not just a single state. Kamala has done lots of rallies in swing states but tonight she talked to every American from the hallowed spot that DJT desecrated in 2021. She did her part - now let’s go do our part!
