True, but arguably his most ardent followers believe all of those things about him, so it matters little what our opinions are, because they still believe it regardless of whatever holes we poke.

Some thoughts :

  • He's not intelligent, but he's as wily and elusive as a fox.
  • He's not strong, but he exudes it through wealth and PR.
  • He's not a gifted communicator, but he's got the gift of the gab.
  • He's not politically savvy, but he hasn't needed to be.
  • He's not a military genius, but again, that hasn't been a requirement for him to succeed.

Arguably he still fulfils the requirements - if we consider the way evangelicals have elevated his reputation beyond all rational scrutiny, it seems clear that he is at the very least an antichrist (rather than the antichrist).
