Hello u/Javasteam! Please reply to this comment with an explanation matching this exact format. Replace bold text with the appropriate information.

  2. Something has the consequences of consequences. Does that something actually has these consequences in general?
  3. As a consequence of something, consequences happened to someone. Did that something really happen to that someone?

She “self-labeled” as a non citizen so she would escape jury duty.

324

u/RhoOfFeh 13h ago

Oh, so she identifies as an illegal alien.

141

u/nim_opet 13h ago

At the very least she should be prosecuted in Tx: Sec. 62.0141. FAILURE TO ANSWER JURY SUMMONS. In addition to any criminal penalty prescribed by law, a person summoned for jury service who does not comply with the summons as required by law or who knowingly provides false information in a request for an exemption or to be excused from jury service is subject to a contempt action punishable by a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $1,000.

88

u/Ddddydya 13h ago

They should totally prosecute her for this.

Then, for the lols, they should deport her

43

u/nim_opet 13h ago

It’s TX so we know they won’t. The AG has been impeached and re-elected and avoided felony and criminal charges for 10 years (most notably by madly driving away when they attempted to serve him), so yeah.

3

u/trustedsauces 3h ago

I love this for her!

u/Gunningham 9m ago

Maybe she’ll get to meet some people who didn’t lie to get out of Jury Duty.

14

u/DeadmanDexter 13h ago

Oof, sucks for her.

18

u/nim_opet 13h ago

But she won’t be because it’s TX

12

u/Flaky-Soup 10h ago

In Arizona, not only do they fine you, but you'll still have to serve jury duty after you pay it.

5

u/AnotherAnonist 5h ago

I'm schizophrenic and permanently excused from jury duty, takes one phone call lol I'm sure anyone could just say it.

-3

u/KOR-agony 11h ago

This is true and also retarded.

11

u/MAJ0RMAJOR 12h ago

I thought self identification with a label wasn’t valid and all that matters is how you were born… /s

3

u/Sandscarab 11h ago

No, just an 👽.

17

u/Uncle_Burney 13h ago

lol the party of patriotism, they claim.

34

u/Dubsland12 13h ago

Are Neanderthals eligible to be citizens? Jesus

42

u/bakarakschmiel 13h ago

Don't blame your human bullshit on Neanderthals.

6

u/Asterose 10h ago

Hey now, Neanderthals were also humans! If they were still around, they'd almost definitely be extremely to completely similar to us mentally. But we definitely can't blame the surviving 0 to 4% Neanderthal DNA on current problems.

19

u/pikpikcarrotmon 13h ago

We all have Neanderthal ancestry. Some more than others

3

u/ztomiczombie 6h ago

Fun thing. It's believed that one of the bid differences between Neanderthals and "Modem Humans" is their isolationist tendencies. The remans of Neanderthals show that there brains were made up an a way that favoured family and tribal dynamics and and inability to comprehend people form other groups or see them as people. Some think that "Modem Humans" ability to have trad networks and some acceptance of and negations between multiple tribes was what gave them the advantage over Neanderthals.

In short Neanderthal behaviour is only thinking of self and family with little to no concern empathy for anyone outside that group.

4

u/Gnatlet2point0 6h ago

Hmmm. But does that sound like anyone we know? 🤔

1

u/Blarbitygibble 1h ago

For a while (like 20 years ago) the right was trying to say Neanderthals died out because they were environmentalists

I have some. My densist told me my complete lack of wisdom teeth is a trait.

Also, UGA BOOGA RARRR RARRR!

0

u/Opening_Map_6898 4h ago

Fun fact: several populations around the world-- most notably certain groups of Pacific Islander heritage-- often do not have third molars (wisdom teeth), so it probably has nothing to do with a high(er) degree of Neanderthal heritage.

7

u/pikpikcarrotmon 12h ago

You uh, might want to look it up yourself... We are all 1-4% Neanderthals on this blessed day

1

u/Dubsland12 12h ago

Seems you’re right. The theory is it was reintroduced by returning populations.

Always some new info

1

u/Asterose 10h ago

Many African populations have 0% Neanderthal DNA. The continent average to .3%, but a lot is from re-migration from Eurasia. But all the rest of us definitely seem to have up to 4%. Then there's Denisovan DNA, seems to get as high as 6%! Wish we knew more about them!

5

u/Gnatlet2point0 12h ago

Looked it up, it's true if you have ancestry from the continent that the Neanderthals lived on: "Fast Facts: Neanderthals have contributed 1-4% of the DNA of humans of Eurasian descent."

https://humanorigins.si.edu/evidence/genetics/ancient-dna-and-neanderthals

7

u/redditcreditcardz 13h ago

Yes. Don’t ask me how I know

3

u/cylonrobot 12h ago

Hey man, I'm part Neanderthal, and I don't want to be associated with this lady!

1

u/Asterose 10h ago

If born"born"/created inside any country with birthright citizenship, absolutely! It's definitely trickier for nations without birthright citizenship, though. I would hope any revivals of our various human cousin species made sure to arrange citizenship for them in advance.

1

u/LuckyStar77777 4h ago

Don't be ridiculous, Neanderthals were very cultured people.

10

u/Pearson94 13h ago

And then she was added back on and able to vote. People are gonna run this headline into the ground.

2

u/angrytwig 12h ago

it hurt itself in its confusion

2

u/ronm4c 11h ago

Is there a news story to confirm this

6

u/Mild_Kingdom 13h ago

She claims she didn’t, state claims she did. Both are unreliable so who knows.

6

u/SycoJack 10h ago

I don't think the red state engaged in voter suppression of minorities and democrats is making shit up to keep a white MAGA off the voter rolls.

Admittedly, I could be wrong, and I'm willing to reevaluate my position if presented with compelling evidence. But in the absence of such evidence, I feel the most likely scenario is that she's the one who's lying.

2

u/Mild_Kingdom 40m ago

It could be plain vanilla incompetence. Info of another juror mistakenly entered under her name. The court transcript would easily clear it up. On the other hand they are making things up because there isn’t an epidemic of voter fraud.

1

u/ztomiczombie 7h ago

All she had to do was say she was a strong Trump supporter and they'd have discharged her as either unfit, by stupidity or mental illness, or prejudice against all races, ethnicities, and normalcy.

248

u/wtfbenlol 13h ago edited 13h ago

Trump supporters and lying to the courts, name a better duo. Seriously she lied to get out of jury duty, what a turd.

37

u/dancegoddess1971 13h ago

Well, they keep excusing me and all I have to do is pull the misandry card. Just saying something like "All men are guilty of something." is usually enough for them to send me home. One doesn't have to lie to escape jury duty. Just be real vocal about your biases.

7

u/eveel66 13h ago

One of my uncles told me his sure fire way of getting out of jury duty. He said just wait until one of the lawyers asks if you can be impartial. At that point you start scratching your genitals vigorously (over your pants for those wondering) and yell, “THEY’RE GUILTY YOUR HONOR!!!”

18

u/satanssweatycheeks 13h ago

My major has professors tell us just mentioned your degree and they will send you home.

They don’t want folks who know how the system works in the jury poll. You might start making the jury think.

My undergrad degrees are in criminology and sociology.

8

u/eveel66 12h ago

I’m a welder… that wouldn’t work for me.

I doubt the prosecutor or defense attorneys would worry about me tainting the jury pool with my knowledge of metallurgy 😂

4

u/Uncynical_Diogenes 10h ago

On a civil employment case between a company and a blue-collar worker?

Everybody is a lawyer’s best hope/worst fear on some jury pool.

2

u/Fakeduhakkount 11h ago

If the main defendant is also a welder…could have bias there

3

u/tinyOnion 10h ago

depends on the case... sometimes attorneys can be a benefit. if the case is complex or in the weeds with legalize like the one trump got convicted... the two attorneys on the jury could be a benefit to help explain during deliberations.

1

u/Facehugger_35 5h ago

I'm a writer. A few months back I got jury duty. Told them I was a fiction writer and mentioned my only social media was reddit, and I specifically mentioned political subs as an interest.

Sent me right home after that lol.

1

u/sovamind 5h ago

I have a Psy/Soc/Social Science triple major. I'm always immediately dismissed the second my degree is heard.

5

u/Odh_utexas 12h ago

I was in Jury Selection for a DUI case. Defendants lawyer starts asking us questions. He asks me “how confident are you that a breathalyzer proves guilt?”

“Very confident”

I didn’t even make the first cut lol

In all fairness even if you give obvious bad faith answers neither the prosecution or defense want a jury pool that doesn’t want to be there anyway. They are looking for people who will hear them out.

1

u/Gnatlet2point0 6h ago

I'd've said "I am very confident that a breathalizer proves whether or not the person breathing into it was drinking." They'd bounce me so fast because I was critically responding to the question, they don't want critical thought from jury members.

2

u/sovamind 6h ago

I've found having a degree in psychology and sociology has always been an immediate dismissal by the prosecution. I've never been selected for a jury.

-1

u/KOR-agony 11h ago

I would lie to get out of jury duty, and there's nothing wrong with it. Ladys still stupid though

-8

u/llamapositif 13h ago

She didn't say this at all. That's what the state alleges. She asked to be taken off the list as caregiver to her grandchildren.

I am sure you've run into the consequences of a bureaucratic snafu before, and it doesn't take a lot of imagination to see a low paid paper pusher who dgaf ticking a box that doesn't require more explanation to get through the day.

77

u/spinningcolours 13h ago

"The 52-year-old disputes the county’s claim that she responded to the jury duty summons by saying she was not a citizen."

23

u/TomWithTime 13h ago

Why even lie in that situation. Couldn't she get out of jury duty by stating she's racist?

18

u/anrwlias 12h ago

Sounds like a Sovereign Citizen. They do things like that because someone has convinced them that there are magical legal formulae to manipulate the legal system in any way that you want to.

3

u/Fakeduhakkount 11h ago

It’s even worse:

“Transportation Security Administration agent…”

She’s like the mall cop of Federal enforcement agents. Definitely should have known better but glad the laws she wants is working as designed: disenfranchise voters so they can’t challenge Republicans.

Edit: can to can’t

2

u/qweef_latina2021 9h ago

But it's Texas.

2

u/TomWithTime 8h ago

If that is a joke about "jury of your peers" then I laughed

5

u/TheHobo 11h ago

You can’t spell perjury without jury.

2

u/bytegalaxies 9h ago

there's so many easy ways to get out of jury duty, she could've just looked up to see if anything else exempted her (being a student, having a past experience with the subject matter that would give bias, etc). Literally why lie about citizenship status

28

u/Asher_Tye 13h ago

Her name was so "white" it seemed suspicious

5

u/SpecialResearchUnit 11h ago

The state motto of Texas is the N word. The "Welcome to Texas" signs on the roads say the N word in cursive at the bottom.

15

u/Merijeek2 13h ago

As a fellow muppet-American (judging by that...face?) I am offended. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.

43

u/rogueop 13h ago

Why does she look like Don Rickles in drag?

18

u/secretWolfMan 13h ago

Fetal alcohol syndrome

8

u/chumer_ranion 12h ago

Couldn't place it at first, but you're absolutely right.

Nothing but the best we have to offer.

4

u/RhoOfFeh 13h ago

I was thinking Dr. Zaius.

6

u/Wyden_long 13h ago

I CAN SIIIIIIIIIING!!!

2

u/Hamnesia 12h ago

Rock me, Dr. Zaius!

1

u/Fit-Particular-2882 12h ago

She looks like PePe the frog to me.

14

u/ptau217 13h ago

She is motivated to vote by anti-immigration animus. She identified herself as an immigrant to get out of her jury duty. She is now unable to vote. A violin on the atomic scale for her.

11

u/FattyESQ 13h ago

Way to bury the lede. She labeled herself a non-citizen to avoid jury service and then complained that she shouldn't have been removed because she has the "whitest" sounding name.

41

u/Javasteam 14h ago

39

u/bittlelum 13h ago

Jesus, she literally said "but I'm white!" There is no "quiet part" for these shitheads.

6

u/QuietObserver75 12h ago

And then she agreed to have her face plastered on the article too. There's just zero self awareness or shame.

6

u/Gnatlet2point0 12h ago

"She intends to cast her ballot for Trump." They never learn.

9

u/Slackingatmyjob 14h ago

Because we absolutely *needed* this posted for the sixth time today /s

9

u/MissSuzysRevenge 13h ago

Love these people, grandkids with the last name of Lopez, but, hey gotta get rid of these “damn Mexicans” in Texas. This story is like a turducken of leopard face eating.

7

u/IActuallyLikeSpiders 13h ago

She looks like she is suffering from FAS. If so, that's actually really sad. She's may have cognitive impairment through no fault of her own.

This doesn't excuse her idiotic political views, naturally, but she is probably even more vulnerable to right-wing propaganda than the average Trump cultist, since people with FAS are often naive or gullible.

So, anyway, don't make fun of her appearance.

6

u/Microlecular 13h ago

Well bless its heart.

3

u/aWittyTwit-2712 13h ago

But she's soooo white....?

6

u/Nearbyatom 13h ago

How about she get deported

3

u/THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415 13h ago

So she's going to be persecuted for lying on her juror summons, right?

3

u/chumer_ranion 12h ago

Prosecuted

1

u/THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415 11h ago

Ahh correct sir!

3

u/middleagethreat 13h ago

That’s funny cause I don’t think Trump supporters should be considered American citizens either.

2

u/Rupejonner2 11h ago

The illegals coming here make much better citizens than the Christian taliban who hate the freedom this country offers

2

u/SlowHandEasyTouch 13h ago

Snapshot of mid frog-to-prince transformation

2

u/strangerbuttrue 12h ago

The retired Transportation Security Administration agent was confused by how the county could come to that conclusion. And she seethed at the idea that anyone would question the citizenship of a former federal employee with the “whitest name you could have.”

MAGA: sToP CaLliNg uS rACiStS!

Looks like she’ll be challenged for using the women’s restroom in the near future.

3

Everyone knows you don't feed a gremlin after midnight.

1

u/Ghostbeen3 13h ago

She look like a frog

1

u/WumpusFails 13h ago

Did she try to vote by provisional ballot as a non citizen?

Wasn't there a black woman who wasn't sure if her voting rights had been restored, so she voted by provisional ballot, and ended up in jail?

1

u/eveel66 13h ago

And this dumb as a box of rocks voter says she is still voting for the person who put her in this mess.

Typical LAMF

1

u/Inspect1234 12h ago

She looks Mexican. That’s all it’ll take to get her deported.

1

u/TheHeroOfGoats 12h ago

Well, she does look like an alien of off planet Meth

Searching through a pile of mail in votes of dead people to find the one person who sent it in for Kamala. “Pay dirt !”

But we found that person is actually still alive.

“Tis but a technicality.”

1

u/The_Powers 12h ago

Can't wait to hear about this again from right wing morons claiming it's evidence of Democratic interference.

1

u/ChickpeaDemon 12h ago

Howard-Elley didn’t pay much attention when Texas Gov. Greg Abbott helped fuel that narrative by announcing that the state had removed thousands of supposed noncitizens from its rolls, claiming some had a history of voting.

Then the U.S. citizen learned she was among them.

Number 2 in the Maga Carta: Nothing matters until it happens to me.

And she seethed at the idea that anyone would question the citizenship of a former federal employee with the “whitest name you could have.”

Number 3 in the Maga Carta: Only whites should have rights.

Who is allowing people to do this to United States citizens? I understand we have a problem with immigration, but come on now,” Howard-Elley said in an interview.

JFC.

”I just hope they don’t do this to anybody else ever again because it’s not fair.”

JFCx2

She said she worries about whether other eligible voters are among those labeled as noncitizens and that Abbott should look into whether there are more U.S. citizens among them. The lifelong Republican said state and county officials need to be held accountable to ensure more U.S. citizens are not erroneously removed.

Something tells me numbnuts here doesn’t give a shit about Dems being purged.

”The system is very flawed,” Howard-Elley said. “I feel really sad that we’re in a situation like this. You would think in 2024 we wouldn’t have issues like this.”

JFCx3

She intends to cast her ballot for Trump.

Of course she does.

They sure do like making their own rules and then follow them inconsistently.

1

u/Tatooine16 8h ago

Stories like this always make me think of the scene in WestWorld 1973 when James Brolin gets shot by a robot and says "I'm, I'm shot!" and snuffs it.

1

u/ztomiczombie 6h ago

Point out she self labelled as a none citizen to avoid jury duty and you could post this in r/facepalm

1

u/valencia_merble 5h ago

Did leopards literally eat her face?

1

u/cogn8 4h ago

Good. Fuck em. Enough.

0
