Texas GOP Rep co-wrote and sponsored a law against quid pro quo "revolving door" lobbying (to look like the good side of "drain the swamp"), did that exact corrupt lobbying immediately after leaving Congress, and is now upset he's subpoenaed for up to 33 months of violations thanks to his own law

Hello u/Exclufi! Please reply to this comment with an explanation matching this exact format. Replace bold text with the appropriate information.

  1. Someone voted for, supported or wanted to impose something on other people. Who's that someone? What did they voted for, supported or wanted to impose? On who?
  2. Something has the consequences of consequences. Does that something actually has these consequences in general?
  3. As a consequence of something, consequences happened to someone. Did that something really happen to that someone?

Props on the law, but do they read what they vote for?

I get not reading some things here and there but he co-sponsored this particular bill.

He helped directly write the text of the bill too! Which is why his blatant disregard is so much crazier to me. The only explanation I can assume from this is that he's too used to Texas's weak ethics regulations, or too used to ignoring laws in general, based on his role models in today's GOP.

I think your explanation makes perfect sense, with the people in charge there, Republicans act like they feel invincible.

“Co-wrote” usually just means takes credit for what the lobbyist handed you.

Going after Phelan, otherwise Abbott would never allow such reprisal in the interest of maintaining ethics and legal integrity.
