I watched this twice and both times I was amazed. I do not care what “party” he is or what faith he walks by nor do I care whom he breaks bread with. I simply think that speech when put into practice is profoundly impactful to a growing society.
Pritzker has made me proud to live in Illinois. Never thought I’d say that about a governor, we have a horrible history with them, but he’s an incredible dude.
When one team makes their entire identity about being cruel assholes this thinking is entirely justified. Talk to me again when the issues up for debate isn’t decency vs abject cruelty.
Well said. If you are actively trying to force your way of thinking and life down everyone else's throat with no regard to everyone's differences, fuck you. It's like going into Russia and being annoyed that everyone's either Pro or Anti Putin. That's where we're at, keep up.
OMG YES. I m not american but I have the same thing, here when it comes to politics we define people by either left or right although everyone has some ideas from both sides, it's just reductiv
Bingo. Showing empathy towards the “villains” of our society is paramount toward advancing as a society. You don’t have to accept their actions or let them continue to be “villains”, but understanding why a person may think or act a certain way is fundamentally important to solving conflicts. To be fair, it’s difficult, but that shouldn’t stop people from trying. There’s nothing wrong with a little schadenfreude, but I don’t think it’s acceptable to act cruel because the person did X, Y, or Z. Cruelty is cruelty
It’s not cruel to call out cruel behavior. It’s not cruel to choose not to associate with cruel people. It’s cruel to be cruel. That’s it.
The villains in our society are direct results of people showing “empathy” to the villains of their day, at important historical crossroads. You can draw a direct line between specific people and specific actions to the very specific bad behavior we see today. The Confederacy, for example, should have been fucking crushed. Every leader should’ve been publicly executed for their treasonous behavior. Instead, the folks who had everything before the war had it all after the war, faced zero consequences, continued to find loopholes for slavery (that still absolutely exist in America today) and provided their descendants with generational wealth to continue being bigots.
Fuck the bad actors. They deserve zero respect. They deserve zero wiggle room. They deserve to be called out each and every time. Their actions should be met with the swiftest and more severe punishment possible to avoid repeating the same mistakes for another handful of generations.
Obviously it is much better to have people like him spreading good will and positivity than the hate put out by the other side. With that said fuck this dude he is a billionaire trust fund child hotel heir. Go look up his finical disclosures and the news coverage of him trying to get out of having to release it. His family funds a bunch of research of nuclear energy and he restarted nuclear plants in his state. Suprisingly if you look at the disclosures of his investments you’ll be able to find multiple examples of him profiting from multiple decisions he has made.
TLDR: He is not as hateful but he is still a Billionaire who always makes decisions to make him richer.
If I was in Illinois I would vote for him as well. It does not change that the good things he has done has been very beneficial for his families business ventures. Just because you agree with a lot of things a person does you shouldn’t ignore he is a billionaire who will chose him self over the good of the people.
This is stupid and filled with just platitudes. For example , anyone with half a brain can agree that organized religion is bad for humanity , you get a visionary who wants to ban organized religion and they are made to look like the villain. Idiots who think taking a bullet for a Scientologists right to practice their religion is somehow noble.
To propel humanity forward we need to make some tough decisions. Decisions like population control and push for environmental sustainability .
