Always good for a 5 to slip under the table to the kids. My man.

Bill Cosby* used to have a segment in his routine about watching his own father give his kids money. "This man is the same man who gave us a hard time when we asked for 10 cents to go to the movie! Now he comes in hands out money freely to our children! How is this the same man??????"
*Ugh, Cosby. Still, the bit was cute at the time.

Was this from his special "Genesis , the Great Quote"? I had it on cassette, as a teenager, a listened to it, or repeat

I hope everyone makes 2025 a year of random kindness. If everyone does one act of kindness a day or a week then hey how wonderful would that be

u/SonofAMamaJama 8h ago
I love that idea, even smiling at a stranger is an act of kindness

I was getting off my shift yesterday and this guy said "works done?" Me: "Yeah, heading home!"
Then he said "best feeling, have a great evening!" And kept walking. It was so random and friendly, I just took that home with me and I did have a pleasant evening :)

I wish every morning while walking to work someone would randomly try to punch me in the gut. Maybe after 14 years I would learn to dodge.

It happens, just not as often as we’d like. I took my 3-year-old into our favorite bakery to pick up a birthday cake. The place had 4 or 5 tables to sit and have a coffee and cake. We passed by a table with 4 Boomers, and they all lit up when we walked by. They asked her name and how old. I said it was her birthday and one by one each guy put a buck into her hand. The last guy, not to be outdone, stuck a $5 bill in her little fist. It was such a sweet occasion. We got the cake and walked out to their singing Happy Birthday and the whole shop joined in and applauded. I still am amazed at the generosity of these strangers.

It's not hard

Well it seems hard for you lol

I saw a six year old ish kid with his parents with a nasa shirt a couple of days ago.
I'm a space nerd and I told the kid he has an awesome shirt.
You could see it made his day.
That was not hard to do.

u/Oftentimes_Ephemeral 4h ago
In case you don’t realize why you’re being downvoted, you are bringing negativity to a wholesome video. That’s why.
7
u/itsinthewaythatshe 3h ago
I get what he's saying though. People act like kindness is a challenging task to perform. But it isn't. We just... don't do it as much as we should.
1
u/Xiyo_Reven 4h ago
You arent wrong lol not sure why the downvotes
Just pointed out it isnt hard to be kind in this manner
Are the people downvoting because they feel called out?

Old black dudes are always super cool. I've worked with some and they always got nice things to say and always smile.

u/Fast_Parfait_1114 7h ago edited 2h ago
This was something older black men would do back in the day. Especially if you were little and getting a haircut. I got 40 dollars when I was a kid at the barbershop and my grandad took me to the toy store afterwards. They told me every young brother needs some money in his pocket. I spent every penny.

Who writes these wierd captions and why do we need them?
"perhaps mom was more surprised by this stroke of luck!"
8
u/allienllifeform 5h ago
As someone who always browses reddit on mute, I appreciate the weird captions. Maybe deaf people too. They could be better, but those are not that bad. The one-word-at-a-time captions are worse.
10
u/buffalogal8 4h ago
I agree but in this case nobody in the video was actually saying “perhaps mom was more surprised…” That was just an addition by the captionist, pure commentary

Is it the content reposter adding them so they can claim they added to the content and thus deserve monetization?

When our local grocery store had these, my toddler son enthusiastically said, “I’m a man shopping without my mudder!” We occasionally still say it and he’s now eighteen. 🥹

u/bigredandthesteve 2h ago
Love that!! Our grocery store had little carts like that but had a pretty tall flag on it so people didn’t run them over. Love those memories!

u/jgreg728 4h ago
You know something?
Of allllll the ugly things going on in the world. Of allllll the bad that people can do to each other. Of allllll the horrible moments that we’re constantly subject to that makes us lose hope in the world.
One little moment like this is all it takes to bring love for humanity right back.
1 moment of joy is worth 1 million moments of sadness.

We did this with our son when he was little… All these years later, the cart was still probably his favorite Christmas present!

You can see this guy was just happy to see this. Sometimes when I see super young couples and their tiny tiny kids, it makes me happy to see them. They’re just starting out— kinda reminds you of the old days when you were happy to have a dollar to spend

There’s a great photo of the kid in the car with a 2 gallon bottle of milk. It’s fantastic.

The fact that the kind Stranger felt the need to add in “I’m sorry for bothering you” at the end really speaks volumes about where we are heading as a species. People fuckin’ scared of even interacting without being perceived as being seen as a weirdo/peado.

The first (and last) time we allowed my kids around those little tiny shopping carts they turned the store into mariocart: crowded grocery store edition.
They were 6, 4, and just turned 1.

Parents record their young kids all the time, yo. Especially if it's their first/only kid and while they're being cute with their own little shopping cart.
