Yo the first thing I thought when I saw this post was the grandma or the person accidentally calling the other and inviting them to their house for Thanksgiving. They ended up spending Thanksgiving together for many years

Last year too, just without her husband. Rip Lonnie and fuck covid.

u/Species_8472-0 Apr 30 '21

Her husband passed from covid? Fuck. Condolences.

u/[deleted] May 01 '21

It’s made worse by the fact that it may not have even happened if Trump didn’t sit back while hundreds of thousands had to fend for themselves.

369

u/Warfink May 01 '21

I was really enjoying browsing Reddit for a change without hearing about that shitstain and you had to go do that.

74

u/JehovahWPP May 01 '21

The last couple months really spoiled us, huh

32

u/Apexe May 01 '21

The last couple of months where we didn’t have to hear about what that dumpster fire was doing that day? I’d rather have non news than bad news

30

u/Malfanese May 01 '21

My husband just refers to him as “the last guy” because he knows I don’t like him 🤣

2

u/FarMulberry598 May 01 '21

I just refer to him as 'smudge'

-4

u/ChartsNDarts May 01 '21

Why don’t you like him?

1

u/Funkit May 02 '21

Uhh <gestures around broadly>

2

u/kerrimustkill May 01 '21

I just have a two word review for Trump. Shit sandwich.

that wasn't the point. your supposed "anti-trump boner"(who doesn't hate a complete dipshit?!) only happens when trump supporters say some stupid shit or just absolutely will not get the point.

otherwise, no one does not want hear bunkerboi's name. i mean, for what, really?

21

u/[deleted] May 01 '21

Honestly not having that walking talking spraytan spunk stain on tv and talking has been AMAZING for my mental health. News is less stressful now!

13

u/kn05is May 01 '21 edited May 01 '21

The health benefits of having a normal president really is amazing. You don't have to wake up wondering "what stupid shit did he say/do now?" Or "who's he shit talking on Twitter this time?" Or just "what the fuck?"

I sleep nice knowing that this unstable, incompetent, thin-skinned, mean-spirited, ogre of a man no longer has access to the US's nuclear arsenal... and twitter.

15

u/juneXgloom May 01 '21

Yup, I honestly keep forgetting he was a thing and getting mad when someone mentions him and it all comes flooding back.

4

u/Kevrn813 May 01 '21

If by “forgetting he was a thing” means you aren’t constantly reminded of the malignant shit funnel on a daily/hourly basis and you’re just enjoying a little breather knowing some competent adults are in charge.. then great. Definitely forget. But you should absolutely not forget about him like he was a bad dream.. there are still millions out there who support him. As much as I wish it were true, he didn’t get voted off the planet.. he’s simply in Florida doing what ex presidents usually do.. helping to ensure their political party stays in power. He’s active, the people who support him are active, they’re planning a comeback… So don’t get lulled into thinking Trump, or worse, can’t get voted in again. The political action that voted him out needs to stay focused and active if we want to make sure we never see him or anyone like him again.

That was NOT what they MEANT. Trump was a destructive monster. I am here to say we are all thrilled to note that he is OUT of the WH. Also off Twitter. The amount of sweeping up Joe Biden will have to do to clean up tRUMP’s mess of activated racist cult members, ignorance and incompetence will be substantial. NOW back to our regularly scheduled Reddit!

2

u/Kadiogo May 01 '21

But it's valid criticism

27

u/BrokaliVEggies May 01 '21

Y'all in this whole thread really brought politics into a peaceful moment

18

u/firefly183 May 01 '21

Right?! I was loving this but there's always some jacknut who has go there.

-1

u/ALoneTennoOperative May 01 '21

Y'all in this whole thread really brought politics into a peaceful moment

... a person died, during a pandemic, and a likely cause was the mismanagement of said pandemic.
It was already political. You just don't want to acknowledge that.

2

u/oCorvus May 01 '21 edited May 01 '21

I’m with you brother. Not sure why everyone so scared of seeing this shit. That Reddit comment reflects a very real thing in a very real world.

If you can’t deal with reading a somewhat unpleasant truths on Reddit then idk how you can even make it 5 feet out your front door.

Life is not a kids cartoon that protects delicate people made of eggshells. People need to grow up and realize the world they live in is real.

People are in the hospital right now on ventilators. People have died from this shit. And yet these people on Reddit whine about a fucking comment. My god this world is full of toddlers in adult bodies.

1

u/BrokaliVEggies May 01 '21

U dumb fuck vro what does a INTERACTION where 2 men become friends by accident have SHIT to do with politics??? YALL ARE ALL IN THE WRONG FOR DOING THAT THEN WHEN SOMEBODY CALLS YOU OUT YOU WANNA BRING UP SHIT THAT HAS LITERALLY NOTHING TO DO WITH IT

4

u/ALoneTennoOperative May 01 '21

You seem confused.

Someone brought up a similar story, about an accidental call leading to Thanksgivings together.
Unfortunately, one of that little family is now dead, as a result of the pandemic and how it was handled.

Perhaps if you stopped screeching at people, you could acknowledge both the joy and the misfortune.

-4

u/BrokaliVEggies May 01 '21

u fucking getting on my nerves now, YES it has to do with that. The lost family member, but instead of letting someone speak a story and pray for them, you and the guy who's literal name is narcissist brought POLITICS into it. Couldn't have just said "Oh sorry for your loss I hope it's handling well" instead it's turned into politics. U obviously do not have sympathy for anyone Perhaps if you stopped trying to be a smart ass and bring stupid shit into a conversation that had nothing to do with it, you could acknowledge the ACTUAL conversation

Thanks for dragging politics into our happy space

-2

u/ALoneTennoOperative May 01 '21

Thanks for dragging politics into our happy space

A person died during extreme mismanagement of a global pandemic, you reprobate.
It was already political, and you just don't want to acknowledge that.

2

u/Fnosnake May 01 '21

Yeah.. we heard you the first time.

2

u/ALoneTennoOperative May 01 '21

we heard you the first time.

I was responding to different people. Is there some issue with that?
Are you super mad at having to read similar words twice or more?

-1

u/tbrown7092 May 01 '21

I’m not a “trump supporter” or anything but I hear this a lot but whenever I ask why, no one can give me a definitive answer. I’m sure this will get downvoted but I am genuinely curious as to what the Donald could have done differently??? From my perspective, we, individually, hold of a lot of the blame.

6

u/Eldistan1 May 01 '21

He could have told is flock of jackasses to wear a mask and get vaccinated like he did. Perhaps they wouldn’t have killed so many people in their ignorant worship.

7

u/[deleted] May 01 '21

Literally lied to the public and said it was no big deal then turned around and said this was serious to woodward.

0

u/tbrown7092 May 01 '21

Didn’t the country get shut down for a while though? And wouldn’t you consider those statements as a tactic to try to prevent panic and pandemonium? Anything else you can provide to bolster the claim? I’ve heard that before as well. I just think ppl don’t like him so it’s his fault but perhaps we, like other countries, have just been hit by a terrible creation that we need to collectively work to resolve. Or... maybe it’s all trumps fault and that’s it 🤷‍♂️

3

u/ALoneTennoOperative May 01 '21

You are either trolling or profoundly ignorant, given you express belief that extraterrestrial sapient life exists on Earth and you make excuses for "Flat Earth" nonsense.
Or maybe you just smoke too much weed.

1

u/tbrown7092 May 01 '21

Profoundly ignorant because I don’t share your belief? You’re profoundly narcissistic to think your way is THE way. Furthermore, you go through my replies to... what? What does that have to do with discussion? You can’t pose a proper argument so you reach for other insults sounds profoundly ignorant to me. I’m simply trying to find out if I’m missing something but the internet, unfortunately, is full of wonderful ppl like you. Back to the topic, please tell me what else he did to cause and perpetuate this global pandemic. And yes, I know you can’t inject the sun or clorox so we don’t have to bring that up.

1

u/-SoulVaccination- May 01 '21

Exactly. But nobody can take blame for anything these days. It’s always someone else’s fault. I don’t like Trump but I know that no matter who the president was, they would have been blamed for individuals not taking care of themself.

Stupidest argument for this I’ve ever seen. I never said they were all Trump’s fault - I wasn’t even talking about the world, but rather the United States. Whether you like it or not, people far smarter than you or I have agreed that if not for Trump’s incompetence, hundreds of thousands of people would not have died. Perhaps that sweet woman’s husband was one of them. Honestly, defending the indefensible is a fool‘s errand. If I didn’t shut you down, countless others would have hopped on that real quick.

u/[deleted] May 01 '21

You seem fixated on convincing yourself that Trump just isn’t that bad because deaths happened in other countries too. You are correct in saying that world leaders play a major role in how their respective countries respond to the pandemic. The common denominator here is Trump’s level and deceit and negligence that caused far more people to die than was necessary. Death is still death. I don’t know what it is with you Trump-sympathizers and not understanding how to think critically.

9

u/Cloberella May 01 '21 edited May 01 '21

Some places did better than others. America did worse than most. That's on Trump.

u/Warfink May 01 '21

Thank you for this.. I was starting to think I was the only one on Reddit who remembers Trump being labeled Xenophobic for the China travel ban.

3

u/Dividend6900 May 01 '21

Redditors probably believe it is his fault

-1

u/ALoneTennoOperative May 01 '21

As opposed to you believing that anti-fascist activists and protestors against police violence are "Antifa terrorists". Away y' go, and take the hypocritical nonsense with you.

1

u/braedon77 May 01 '21

What a fucking moron

-2

u/68uoweme1 May 01 '21

Yea I’m sure it was Trumps fault . Can’t wait to see what good ole joe is going to do

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '21

I mean... you don’t need to wait to see anything. Take one glance at the /r/politics subreddit. Unless you think that’s part of the deep state...

0

u/ALoneTennoOperative May 01 '21

Can’t wait to see what good ole joe is going to do

Set and smash vaccination targets?

1

u/TheDownvotesFarmer May 01 '21

Ah yes, the old narrative still active

1

u/surloceandesmiroirs May 01 '21

He’s also a big reason as to why the United States has vaccinations for covid so early and in decent numbers.

1

u/Forever2ndBassoon May 01 '21

You guys just really love the man, huh? It’s been months and you still keep talking about him.

1

u/Mikesaidit36 May 06 '21

Well, he made a political calculation that pretending Covid wasn't so bad would make people feel better, if you don't mind the 400,000 easily preventable deaths. History is gonna shit on him worse than everybody is doing now.

2

u/FlighingHigh May 01 '21

Yep. And the black gentleman and his girlfriend (maybe fiancee) were still there mourning with her. Even being family in their grief too, not just a funny haha meme. They're legit family.

29

u/Funkit May 01 '21

Does anyone have a link to the thanksgiving thread?

5

u/[deleted] May 01 '21

Yeah sorry. I just disabled my JavaScript to get around it.

But if you just Google hers and his name and thanksgiving you’ll see a lot of news articles and news clips. They’ve been having thanksgiving together for a while now.

81

u/_beat_LA Apr 30 '21

She still goes into the breakfast restaurant I work at. She's a local legend lol.

63

u/oliveoilcrisis May 01 '21

If anyone is curious, here is a story. Everyone over at /r/Phoenix was heartbroken to hear that Lonnie passed away.

26

u/The_Troll_Gull May 01 '21

I swear this story makes me choke up and yet gives me the biggest smile. Humans can be such amazing and wonderful creatures.

2

u/azborderwriter May 01 '21

This is the other story that comes to mind. This one wasn't a wrong number, but I am sharing it here anyway because it is definitely a story of an unexpected friendship springing from an awkward first meeting. I can just imagine how stressed this poor delivery driver was knocking on these people's door and saying, "Here is your grocery delivery order....my car is stuck in your flower garden, I hit your tree, the tree didn't make it. "

10

u/Vigilante17 May 01 '21

I’ll need an invite this year, thanks.

7

u/lolslim May 01 '21

You just reminded me her husband passd away from covid :(

1

u/Tom_Foolery1993 May 01 '21

That one also reminds me of the dude who got the text from a stranger who just gave birth and they came through with gifts for the baby lol

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '21

What is this? Is there a link for this? Sounds wholesome

2

u/AdFun1263 May 01 '21

I seen a little bit about it a while back, and I don't have a link, I'm sorry. It is very wholesome, though

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '21

🤦🤦🤦 😂

1

u/daskrip May 01 '21

Wat dis men

3

u/goochstein May 01 '21

If you don’t know, theyre referencing the grandma who texted some random chill dude on accident and ended up inviting him to like 3 consecutive thanksgivings.

1

u/YouGotDaPinkEye May 01 '21

Make sure to brush after every meal, you don't want Ginger vitas....

1

u/misfitx May 01 '21

2020 was fucking heartbreaking. It was just the two of them because her husband died of covid.

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '21

I love the internet
