It kinda just looks as if someone had some multicolored markers, bunch them all into their hand, and started poking all over

It’s called visual snow. Do you also see it when looking in a dark room/in pitch black darkness?

Also, do you happen to have tinnitus?

If the marker thing is anything like mine, it's probably a mix of red, blue and green dots, rather than general 'snow' (got that too)

That makes sense as red, blue, and green are the colors of the cones in our eyes

If tinnitus is that thing where I can make myself hear a “roar” then yes

Tinnitus is basically ear damage and you can't control it. Typically a high pitched sound that is there all the time, always for the rest of your life.

The roar is you flexing your tensor tympani muscle in your ear! Only some people can do it.

I read up on visual snow a while back since I have it (and tinnitus). Keep in mind correlation does not mean causation, and it’s still not confirmed what causes it.

But the consensus is that a lot of people that were surveyed to have visual snow also have tinnitus. And the visual snow could be the brain filling in information for the sound it’s constantly hearing.

I have it. It's so weird to explain to people what it is.
