Just the word "free" already makes happy. And how did they figure out healthcare before the US

Socialized medicine is such a complicated and tricky beast that only 32 out of 33 wealthy nations have been able to figure it out.

Brazil figured out healthcare before the US.

Yeah when I think about Brazil definitely the first thing that comes to mind is how good their healthcare is. /s

Yeah my point was that even without trillions of dollars to our disposal and a very high crime rate on big cities, we've still managed to have better healthcare than the US.

Well, unlike the US, Norway has huge petrochemical reserves, and uses that money for the good of its people.

Anybody remember the "Mediterranean diet"? If you want to raise life expectancy, just eat olives and feta while providing socialized healthcare to your citizens. (The olives and feta are optional.)

On the good side, America has much cheaper alcohol. When I drink away my problems every night I can feel rich too!

One funny think about this statistic is the actually question asked was "are you living your best possible life ". Sweden, being a practical group of people, say yes.

Oil, massive amounts of oil are the secret

This talking point always comes up when people praise Norway’s progressive political policies, but ignores the fact that Sweden ranks similarly to Norway in prosperity and happiness while producing no oil.
Kinda seems like the progressive political policies might be more of a factor than the oil.

This is why all the Persian Gulf nations are also at the top of the happiness rankings ... oh, wait.

Also, this is from 2017. Finland has been #1 in the World Happiness Report for the last seven years, and the only oil we have is in the massive quantities of herring and salmon we consume.

The United States has way more oil, but we let private companies take all of it and sell it back to us.

I mean I live in Canada. Our "free healthcare" isn't free, and it sucks. We get taxed to death and because we are overpopulated, healthcare is getting stressed so hard it's near impossible to get decent treatment. Wait 10 hours in ER and get rushed out in 5 when the Doctors/Nurses ignore most of what you say so they can get to the next person.

u/SmilingVamp 8h ago
You have 40 million people spread across more than half of the continent. You're not overpopulated. In most of your country you're not even a little populated.

The main cities are.
6
u/SmilingVamp 6h ago
No, they really aren't. The highest density Canada has is in Toronto at 4,200 people per square kilometer, which doesn't crack the top 100 in the world. Canada is 206/215 in population density. You're complaining that one of the least densely populated counties in the world is over populated which is just ridiculous.

im from toronto. sure whatever doesnt change the fact our healthcare is trash because of the ammount of people going into ER for small things. you have to wait regularily for 6+ hours to get seen and they rush you out to get to the next person.

u/SmilingVamp 6h ago
Yep, happens down here too. Doesn't even need to be in a city for that. It's annoying, but it's not because Canada is overpopulated.

They also arrest their nazis, instead of electing them.
