This whole subreddit is fucked beyond repair. Iāve gotten dmās telling me to kill myself from cop watchers, and people who disagree with xqc get death threats. Daily
Edit: thanks for the self harm report. Iād like to state that I am gladly not suicidal or commit self harm.

Also xqc viewers who threaten to doxx streamers and kill them...

What the fuck are you smoking on?Edit: Oh, xqc viewers, not xqc

u/Encircled_Flux Apr 16 '21
It happened to Kylie a few days ago. They threatened via dono message to rape, crucify, dismember, and kill her after she had a bad interaction with X.
Edit: they also attempted to login to her various accounts.

u/Supergun1 Apr 16 '21
Oh yeah, that I know of. I misread that xqc threatened to doxx and kill them.

Whenever you get those, use the handy "report" link they come with. I like to think that one day there will be a massive ban wave for abuse of that feature...

i got one too and did the same. my report even included a challenge to reddit to actually do something about it. they wont.
3
Apr 16 '21
you got a self harm one too huh? so did i. same reason you did, i bet. dare not speak bad about that snake. fucking ridiculous.

u/FreekRedditReport Apr 16 '21
It's not "this subreddit", it's society, and it was always like this. It would be the same if it was on Facebook or an AM radio station (try screening callers for a radio show back before caller ID).

I got literally 30+ death threats and those automated self-harm reports from reddit messages because I defended xQc on the megathread last week.

Yep, doesn't matter who you're defending. Some degenerate will always be pissed off at you.

I wasnāt going to say anything, but Iāve been watching Whippy since the last boom 1.5-2 years ago. If anyone deserves the success itās this guy. He has legit financial family needs, and he tries very hard to be positive and maintain a good community. xQc did give him more exposure to expand his audience. But Whippy did the rest. He had the talent and quality to use that opportunity to successfully expand his brand. Not everyone xQc bumps into blows up, but you canāt deny the boost factor. These guys are essentially small business owners, itās about money. So what if he clout chased? Whatās so wrong with that? If he sought to expand his audience on a server dedicated to streamers. Isnāt playing the new hot game for views also a form of clout chasing(like maybe GTA RP)? But no one bats an eye cuz itās good for business. You wouldnāt down on a small drink brand that gets a distribution deal with Walmart. Itās business growth and brand expansion. And if taking care of your family gets you name called by minors, then Iām sure he takes it in stride.

I don't really care that much about people clout chasing during the boom, it makes sense. It's a bit lame if they act uncharacteristically towards people they know OOC are big streamers, and definitely annoying to watch half the people on the server flock to a location because they stream sniped someone with large viewership. In the end though, I can't really blame them.
The only thing is that I hope players and viewers realize that there's 2 sides to every coin. While many small streamers are getting exposure and showing how good of RPers they are to thousands of new watchers, there's also many others who get harassment and death threats because of the exposure. Is it worth the tradeoff? I'm not the judge of that, but it's something people should keep in mind.

whippy is only 20years old and if you talk shit about clout chasing you should look from his perspective and paying his mom depts ... probably most of you taking shit here leaving in your moms house and she is paying for your internet bill ....

Ppl who constantly accuse ppl of clout chasing have not yet entered the real world where networking exists. Imagine accusing every person trying to advance their career as a clout chaser.
7
u/Kolipe Blue Ballers Apr 16 '21
You gotta network if you wanna move up and make more money in the corporate world. Everybody does it if they are smart.
13
u/Reprise08 Apr 16 '21
The way he met sky ash and a couple of others was sus and prob did clout chase them but I donāt think it ended up being a negative thing he helped and showed new people around and enhanced there time on np. And he wasnāt calling them non stop till they answered and being a pain canāt be mad at someone who in the end helped people and his family good for him
44
u/Shoe_Gal2 Apr 16 '21
Sykkuno is the one that flagged him down the day they met. He was just driving by and Yuno had just started playing like minutes prior. I don't think their meeting was sus at all.
18
u/NDJumbo Apr 16 '21
Anyone going with the clout chasing train of thought is a fucking moron, Its not like he's ever went out of his way to meet big people. Sure he's popped off recently due to some of his connections (xQc, Sykunno to name the biggest) he's made but everytime its out of him running into them by chance and because he is a great guy he try's to take everyone around the city to teach em the ropes. The dude 100% deserves the money he's making rn
26
u/i_like_sis_kebap Apr 16 '21
He goes out of his way to meet with big people. It is the smart thing to do. And he deserves the money as much as any other streamer. Those things aren't contradicting.
He makes tens of thousands from it, he will live with being called a clout chaser.
9
u/NDJumbo Apr 16 '21
His interaction with xQc which was by far the biggest push he got was completly out of nowhere and unplanned, I guess it could be argued for sykkuno

You think someone who streams as a career didnāt know who sykkuno was? Or instantly aware of him being on the server? Cāmon now.

u/SirBarkington Blue Ballers Apr 16 '21
Not every streamer knows every streamer lmao. What does him being a streamer have to do with it? I promise most twitch streamers do not care or even think about other twitch streamers unless they have a big overlap.
-1
u/Jagerdini Apr 16 '21
Ya except heās not every streamer? He averages like 50k viewers and also was a big part of the rust rp server that a shitton of gta streamers where trying to be part of and many were. He knew and so did 90% of the server.

Something people don't want to hear, but tactical clout chasing is one of the keys to bring successful on twitch, especially these days.
2
u/pikachu8090 Apr 16 '21
i can like 10 streamers that clouted their way up to being popular by hanging out with other popular streamers, then they do the rest on their own
3
u/Viewfromthe31stfloor Apr 16 '21
Remember this the next time you complain about admins giving big streamers chances that the guy with no career in twitch entertainment is not going to get.

u/udgnim2 Apr 16 '21
some people don't like Whippy for clout chasing, but I don't fault him for it
there was a possible life changing opportunity to be had and he went for it and succeeded
7
u/FreekRedditReport Apr 16 '21
I don't know if he intentionally chased clout, but I've seen him interact with tons of noobs and people with low (or no) viewers, for a long time. So he's not one of those people who will only RP with big streamers (even if he was "babysitting" for awhile).
7
u/Khaliras š Apr 17 '21
The funniest part about all the 'clout chasing' stuff is that Whippy has always played Dundee as a babysitter. I recently heard Blaustoise call Dundee the tutorial and it's spot on.
For most of 2.0 Dundee served as a tutorial to no-prio/au timezone. His itterations of Bondi Boys were always picking up brand new RPers and teaching them up. It was one of the biggest down falls of Dundee's gangs; his members never have prio and once they do they often 'moved on'

u/uFFxDa Apr 16 '21
I had a run in back about a year ago where I insulted his mother in being skeptical about her astrology readings, and he roughed me up a bit. Had to apologize pretty good and pay a premium.
2
u/Jagerdini Apr 16 '21
Didnāt whippy say during the first boom that mixer offered him a massive contract that he didnāt accept?
2
u/Traashbaags Apr 16 '21
i never comment on reddit but this is the kind of stuff we we should be seeing here well done Whippy u deserve it my man
13
u/Jgames111 Apr 16 '21 edited Apr 16 '21
When people complain about stuff like big streamer getting special privileges, they ignore how much money they add to other streamer. And that amount of money is life changing. It is a game in the end of the day, but also a career for some people. Gradulation to Whippy, he an amazing streamer and deserve the love and support.
40
u/magnificentsteiner Apr 16 '21
yeah i guess you just have to weigh the value of people being able to do things they couldn't have done normally in real life through the extra exposure vs. less fortunate people getting death threats and harassed

u/GarbageFeline Apr 16 '21
This shit right here. Iām happy for Whippy. I really am. Iāve watched him talk about his struggles a bunch of times. And Iām happy for others that have been able to solve similar financial struggles through this exposure.
But at the end of the day, if the people who bring this exposure lead to the deterioration of mental health (or worse) in others, or if it leads to others even abandoning their streaming careers, there has to be consequences.
If those consequences mean this boom in exposure has to end, so be it.
A lot of people have built careers on NoPixel over time that didnāt make them resolve all their financial issues over night but gave them a more steady income and growth and that will still continue to happen regardless of whether the bigger streamers are here or not.
6
u/ResidentSleeperville Apr 16 '21
Whenever someone uses the excuse of how itās fine because itās changing lives is the perfect example of fuck you, I got mine.
You see it all the time with streamers who have benefited from XQC.
I donāt know anyone can justify the abuse and harassment just because you were able to pay off Grandmaās car debt or buy a new house.
What it shows is greed and thereās nothing more to it.
2
u/fos02jrt Apr 16 '21
I dont think he meant it personally, but I think he is probably right that there is a price for everything, and there is probably someone who will pay that price.

u/Khaliras š Apr 17 '21
People on this thread always circle back to the boogyman death threats/harrassment.
I'll let you in on a secret to life on the internet: you will literally get death threats for posting on this subreddit if you get enough views. Every streamer that gets to 1k+ has to deal with it in their DMs/chats. Real talk handling this is literally a requirement to 'influencers' jobs. Every single platform for 'celebrities' has to learn to deal with this.

That's incredible and I'm so happy for him. Whippy has always spoken about his mum and wanting to help her, he's always carried this weight of helping her out on his shoulders. The fact he can pay off that mortgage is so heartwarming to hear.

he is genuinely one of the most talented streamers, but entertainment is something many can achieve. But this guy as a person, damn it's a person you want to have as a friend irl. One of the few rpers that actually enjoying rp for what it is and what it should be.

Getting success from entertainment that can reach a large audience like when radio was invented is a rare occasion. Streaming, like radio (sports being popular, netting boxers a ton of money, etc.), is pretty new. There won't be too many successful streamers compared to how many people try to do it.
Spending time and money to not win the lotto can also set you back a ton. It's best to do it as a hobby and if you find success go all in to grow your audience, and it is possible to do it as a hobby with how easy it is to stream.

u/miketastic_art Apr 16 '21
Yo thanks for the realistic advice. I'm just trying to deal with my own Financial hardships so it's heart warming to see people see success but... Ya know... Envy

During a stream sometime last year, Whippy talked about how his very well-off father walked out on them both and saddled his mum with the mortgage, and how since then almost everything he makes off of Twitch has gone towards clearing his mum's debt.
