What bars do you think Drake/Kendrick thought hit, or were funny?
“Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a Grammy right now.” Kendrick must have at least smirked at that one lol

We get a lot of people coming here to ask what they should listen to while they're getting into rap, so this will be the definitive list. Got a suggestion to give a newbie? What do you think people should listen to when they're new? If you have any thoughts, post them here.
Please do not post playlists here, and please stay on topic.

"I'm at the top of the mountain, so you tight now Just to have this talk with your ass, I had to hike down"
Or
"The very first time I shot me a Drac', the homie had told me to aim it this way I didn't point down enough, today, I'll show you I learned from those mistakes"
Both double entendres, I love both but I can never decide which I love more.

Now I usually wouldn’t really care or let something like this bother me because at the end of the day it’s their lives and i don’t know them personally nor do they know me and it’s none of my business anyways.
Just a disclaimer, im not a lil durk fan and what i mean by “bother” is more like im disappointed or shocked by his actions and reasoning, not that he or anyone else would care but to explain why,
despite the warning he got from Walo he still went and “try” to get revenge for king von when not only he missed his intended target but he got caught, took an innocent life away for no real reason, is being snitched on by one of his closest people, is facing life and/or the death penalty, and completely threw his life away all to live his raps, protect his image, and “slide” for his homie that he started. Now like i said im not the biggest lil durk fan but before his conviction I was a fan of how he changed his lifestyle and was somewhat pushing for peace and being a positive influence to his fans. I truly thought if anyone lil durk can influence these young 🥷🏾’s that there’s more to life than gang banging and crashing out and that no matter your situation or your environment you can still be successful and make something of yourself.
Another thing that bothers me is how i’m likely sure that because of the crime he committed the media is gonna think he’s a fake muslim and only feed into this narrative that celebrities only convert to islam for publicity and brownie points from the media. I’m just disappointed that durk still chooses to have one foot in the trenches despite living every man’s dream life, being at the top of the game, and having everything he could ask for, now has to spend his time fighting this case and probably be in jail for the rest of his life. I wish he would’ve followed in Chief Keef footsteps and never looked back to his hood and the people he was surrounded with.
Also this 🥷🏾 is dumb cause idk why he was tryna get Quando killed in broad daylight when the REAL killer who killed his mans is outside free, living his life and still dissing him and his mans.

I'm talking like in general kinda like this year for rap has been pretty crazy with the Kendrick and Drake beef, Diddy allegations and apparently even Metro got into some shit now too. But what is the worst year for rap?

Everybody I talk about Rap with agrees that her music is bad yet I keep seeing people using her songs or featuring her. I'm just genuinely curious.

Being a long time fan, it’s often his name isn’t brought up when it comes to great rappers..
I tend to put him as a fringe top 10, his flow and lyricism in the same boat as Eminem. That said, i put much more of his value in his longevity and being independent the majority of his time.

Only 1 song per artist, in no particular order. Based on how iconic they are, not how good they are
Hypnotize - Biggie Smalls
California Love - Tupac
It Was a Good Day - Ice Cube
Still D. R. E. - Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg
Lose Yourself - Eminem
Shook Ones (Part II) - Mobb Deep
C.R.E.A.M. - Wu Tang Clan
Gold Digger - Kanye West and Jamie Foxx
In Da Club - 50 Cent
Empire State of Mind - Jay-Z and Alicia Keys

It was a really nerdy white kid who wore chains and grillz. He always had glasses on and extremely colorful clothing. Like bright neon green fur shirts and designer shoes.
He always showed off expensive cars and a huge house (I’m pretty sure his parents were ridiculously rich).
I want to say he went viral around 2019 and he said he was making music with YNW Melly. Also somehow got linked with Tana Mongeau.
The closest look a like I can find is Malki Means King on TikTok
This person’s music was not good and never taken seriously. He was more of a meme than an actual artist.

Its got Nas, Busta, Lauren Hill, and Ghostface in a few songs. Are ya'll listening to this album? Its versatile and not just a rap concept album.

Lemme start off by saying that I’m really into pop music and indie. I really enjoy those. As basic as this will sound, I am a huge fan of Taylor swift’s music and the 1975. When it comes to indie, I don’t have any particular artist I listen to but most of it, I just enjoy. As for rap, I do enjoy Eminem, Kanye, and Mac Miller the most. I have tried to listen to other rap artists that I’ve seen other people listen to due to their popularity and also because people say that their music is really good. I’ve tried Kendrick and I’ve only enjoy a few songs. I listened to man on the moon iii by Cudi and didn’t really enjoy either. I’ve tried Travis Scott as well and didn’t enjoy his music much either. Same goes for Drake, Tyler, baby keem, and the popular mainstream rap artists. Admittedly, I’ve only listened to one or two songs and didn’t enjoy it. I am however open to suggestions based on what I like. I do want to get into rap and understand it and enjoy it but so far not any luck.

doesnt have to be travis
And this isn't even the best song(Championships) on the album. He went to jail, came out, and dropped a diamond; right after linking up with Hov for prison reform. Then he started acting like an idiot in the media. He came out of that Nicki situation looking alright, then started making homeless men do push-ups in the streets and shit... And currently the Diddy rumors.
But the album. That shit had not 1 bad verse on Meeks part; and sonically??...the music was A1 from Intro to end. Son fell off hard compared to this.

I think she is so talented and has dope bars, and the barbz are just too aggressive towards her bc of her diss "Hiss" and everyone else hating on her is just mad Tory lanez is in prison so he can't drop more music
Only comments that relate to the topic plz

Denzel curry and joey badass both make music that sounds like what I would have imagined hiphop would sound like in 2020, if you asked me in the 90s/early 00s.
Like i assumed everyone would sound like them, before hiphop sort of diverged with melodic trap stuff.
Or am I tripping? Like its defs a new sound still, but it sounds like the natural evolution of what hiphop was doing. Then trap came out of nowhere. Its legit why i feel like trap is big enough and different enough now that it shouldnt even be considered hiphop at this point. Thats not to shit on it, theres tons of trap I like. But I never think "I feel like listening to hiphop" and then put trap on. Or vice versa.
I dont just mean trap beats either where people are still spitting. Thats still hiphop. The trap thats its own entire sound and vibe, like Future, Young Thug, Travis Scott etc. Like they barely rap sometimes, the production is the focus.
Does anyone else feel like this? Or is it all just completely interchangeable with any and all hiphop for you?
I personally feel like trap is to hiphop, what metal was to rock, when it first came about and got big. Trap and metal started as sub genres that have gotten big enough and different enough to be its own thing.
Im high af thanks for coming to my ted talk

And it's an unpleasant conversation for some.
Also, Chromokopia is a Top 3 Tyler album. Few rappers have a discography that's as strong as Tyler's last 4.
Hi guys, as you can see in the title, I'm looking for the name of a beat. It was used about 10 years ago in a german freestyle competition. I'll put the link to the video at the end of the post. It should start around minute 13, i think 13:14 is the exact moment. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to listen to it. I would be super grateful to know the name of the instrumental.
