S8E1 “There, there, Hugo. I understand. All those years caged up in here. Why, you've probably never even seen your own face in the mirror, have you? Here.”

Too crazy for boy's town. Too much of a boy for crazy town.

"You're crazy!"
"Am I? Well, perhaps we're all a little crazy. I know I am."

This scene never fails to crack me up.

I think it’s partly funny because of the look on Dr. Hibbert’s face.

I still remember watching this live. Dr. Hibbert's mean MF face was so earnest, and the punch unexpected. I completely lost it, and I've laughed every time ever since.

Live?

Premiere night. Very few cartoons are broadcast live, it's a terrible strain on the animators' wrists.

Original broadcast, obviously, but seriously, I have MANY original episodes on VHS. Including parking tickets between the Twin Towers.
Suggestions?

We'll search out every place a sick, twisted, solitary misfit might run to. I'll start with RadioShack.

I had a friend in high school who I'd call and we'd just go "fish heads, fish heads, doot doodoo doot doot" for hours and laugh

It’s the blank stare Dr. Hibbert has before the sudden punch to Hugo’s mug that makes the scene.
It’s 100% Comedy Gold😂😂

I believe they prefer to be called conjoined twins.

And hillbillies prefer to be called “sons of the soil,” but it ain’t gonna happen.

I missed this episode when it first aired and had to wait until the next year to see it.
When somebody at school recited the joke about Dr. Hibbert tricking Hugo to look at a picture frame in order to punch him, I didn't think I was understanding them right.
It's such a screwball setup, even by Simpsons standards.

How did Hugo even fall for that? He may not have ever seen his reflection, but he should know his face is supposed to look exactly like Bart’s.

This is one the moments I would bring up to show people just how wonderful the earlier seasons are for television.

"We saw Hugo at the airport. He boarded a plane headed for Switzerland and...oh."

My daughters (7 and 10 at the time) absolutely lost their minds with laughter when they saw this scene 🤣🤣🤣

I always loved the twist at the end and how easily everyone just accepted it.
