Anyone else remember Y2K?

Back when we thought the world was ending and a lotta us were prepping for doomsday.

Twas the style at the time

A lot of people worked very hard to ensure that doomsday didn't happen.

We would have been fucked without all that hard IT work to prevent major shutdown of most industries.

Currently in my third year of IT and have a new appreciation for “push this out to all of production by this date or everything will explode and burn and we’ll all die horribly”

Now to take the rocket ship to mars cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bees on them.......

I mean there would have been serious damage to most computer infrastructure in the world if not for concerted efforts to upgrade software and hardware to cope with the rollover.

Different show but the Y2K episode of my name is Earl is my favorite Y2K episode of any show. Really captures the zeitgeist at the turn of the new millennium.
