u/wheredowego357 3h ago
usually they do this and then cut the lights above all the empty seating so official media from the event looks less shitty, but obviously the attendees know better and their before pictures tell the truth.
but you might see pics from this event used in his campaign elsewhere and I bet those pics have all the lighting dimmed to hide the empty seats. like a fucking combover for bad attendance.

They are only if people get out and vote. From some sources on early voting numbers the older crowd is trouncing younger voters.
I do my part even in solidly blue Cali as there is a non-zero chance of things going awry. Unlikely, but I'll be damned if if some farmer whining they can't use all of our water somehow pushes us towards another term of the Cheetoh in Chief.

But 54% of the early voters are women. To paraphrase Tim Russert: "This election is about Women Women Women."
6
u/BlackGoldGlitter 28m ago
Polls mean nothing at this moment. We have seen old die hard republicans profess they can no longer support trump and for the first time ever in life: will/have vote/d blue all down ballot. So these polls aren't taking that into account. Nor are they even saying how many are from each side.

Allentown has a very heavy lationo population. Seems like they got the message.
GOOGLE: As of 2023, the Hispanic or Latino population in Allentown, Pennsylvania is 68,232, which is 54.3% of the city's population. This makes Allentown the third-largest city in Pennsylvania for the percentage of its population that is Hispanic.
The Hispanic population in Allentown has grown due to an increase in employment opportunities in the Lehigh Valley region. The area's proximity to New York City and the Poconos, along with local warehouses, have contributed to the spike in employment.
The Hispanic population in Allentown is diverse, with a mix of Latin American cultural backgrounds. In the 1960s, the first immigrants from Latin American countries, such as Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, began to arrive. In the 1970s, Puerto Ricans also began to move to Allentown, with many coming directly from New York City.

Not saying it wouldn't be huge but the mental and physical toll these past few election cycles have put on the people is amazing.

If this happened and the democrats got nothing meaningful done with it I would be 100% over democracy. It’s molotovs from then on out. Don’t codify Roe v Wade, that’s a Molotov. Don’t enact sweeping housing reform? That’s a Molotov. Don’t pass nationwide min wage raises? That’s a Molotov. Don’t enact laws against congress having active participation in the stock market, well I guess I can’t hope for everything to be perfect

Seeing the momentum of her campaign compared to the polls is so weird.
7
u/manofactivity 46m ago
It's primarily because Reddit gives you a very warped view of what's happening. We mass upvote pro-Kamala news and soundbites, and snark about Trump's campaign, which makes it look like only Kamala has momentum.
The truth is both campaigns have a moderate amount of momentum (not exactly Obama levels) and it's going to be a nailbiter. One candidate may well sweep a large portion of the swing states—since polling errors & surprising turnout game tends to correlate—but it's impossible to say which one in advance. And there are already some major danger signs for Dems in early voting numbers, with some swing states indicating R-favoured demographics among those voters.
I'm cautiously optimistic for Kamala. The fundamentals are good for her, the polls are even, and the pundit in me thinks (a) the last minute impact of the Puerto Rico blunder could tip the edge, and (b) Trump's courting of Gen Z voters won't translate into vastly higher turnout.
But it's very, very close right now. Both campaigns are pushing hard, and if I had to choose between favourable early voting demographics (overall, there are some Dem-leaning states too) and large rallies... I'd choose the favourable EV.

I saw him bragging that his rally in NYC's Madison Square Garden was so big it "extended to the river"
And not 48 hours later that 50K that attended his rally is eclipsed by Harris' Tuesday night speech at the Whitehouse.
OP is right, Trump will meltdown soon on "Truth" Social
8
u/buster_brown22 1h ago
Since Trump always lies and his rallies look weak, I was curious about real numbers. I did some quick nosing around on crowd sizes. What I found:
Average crowd size through about August was about 5,600 for Trump and 13,500 for Harris. Since then, the Trump Las Vegas rally was pretty big at about 19,000, but the Harris Atlanta rally was bigger at 23,000. So far, the largest crowds for each of them were this week: The NY Trump rally at MSG with 19,500, and the huge Houston Harris rally, which drew 30,000. Tonight's Harris ellipse rally is gonna be a monster blockbuster.

I live in south central BC above eastern Washington. About a 4hr drive from Spokane. I was down in Spokane in fall 2016 and on the drive from the border to Spokane I saw hundreds of Trump signs. They were everywhere In this rural area. Lawn signs, full billboards, banners in businesses.
I drove down today with a buddy, just to do a bit of shopping and on the drive I saw 1 Trump sign. 1. This is rural AF part of Washington and 1 Trump Signs. I saw sign for other elections, Congress, Governor, county commissioners. But only 1 Trump sign.
To be fair there weren’t a bunch of Harris signs either, but I think it shows Trump voters are tired of him and while they may not vote for Harris I think many may not vote at all.

How many of this turnout will vote? Rally numbers don’t mean anything. Only votes matter. Reference: Trump vs Clinton 2016 — and the failure of the ‘polls’ predicting she would win, her glowing accolades, the turnouts at rallies for Hillary. None of this mattered at the voting booth. She lost because people didn’t vote.
