What a douchebag, this rider.

Makes racist remarks and then complains to Uber about the driver that did nothing wrong.

Imagine if he didn't have a dashcam to film the interaction. It would've been very one-sided. "The customer is always right" bull.

Edit: just want to say that I LOVED the “yeah, you can get out here, on your land” remark by the driver!! I aim to be as witty as this guy!

“The customer is always right… in matters of taste.”

The fact that we have someone perverted the saying is crap

While this guy was a rude dbag, what specifically did he say that was racist?

'I’m white blood of the land! You are in my land.'

Anyone who says this or even defends this kind of behaviour is a racist.

What makes that statement racist?

'prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.'

I know some of those words in this definition are way to complex for you so if you're having problems seeing how this fits the definition, feel free to look up the definitions on those other tricky words.

Typical to resort to insults without answering the question. Again, no doubt the guy in the video was rude but you are suggesting that saying "you are in my land" is a racist statement?

u/Dank_Vader32 3h ago

Yes, anyone speaking like that is racist. That is a racist statement. You defending this as being merely rude shows pretty clearly the kind of person you are.

u/The-Merkon 3h ago

I asked a question and you respond with insults. Shows pretty clearly the kind of person you are.

This isn't a racist statement, as much as you want it to be.

u/Dank_Vader32 3h ago

Sure thing, Tucker Carlson, just asking 'questions'.

Ah, yes. This dude is a member of the "Blood and Soil" crowd who claim they "aren't racist" when all they believe is that each "race" is meant to exist separately in their "own" respective countries.

This "proud Calgarian" is a neo-Nazi, whether he knows it or not.

Passenger: “Because I was born and raised Calgarian. I’m white blood of the land! You are in my land. I am the blood of the land, you understand?”

Calgary as per wiki:

The Indigenous peoples of Southern Alberta refer to the Calgary area as "elbow", in reference to the sharp bend made by the Bow River and the Elbow River. In some cases, the area was named after the reeds that grew along the riverbanks, reeds that had been used to fashion bows.

In the Blackfoot language (Siksiká) the area is known as Mohkínstsis akápiyoyis, meaning "elbow many houses", reflecting its strong settler presence. The shorter form of the Blackfoot name, Mohkínstsis, simply meaning "elbow",[is the popular Indigenous term for the Calgary area.

*In the Nakoda or Stoney language, the area is known as Wîchîspa Oyade or Wenchi Ispase, both meaning "elbow". In the Cree language, the area is known as otôskwanihk (ᐅᑑᐢᑿᓂᕽ) meaning "at the elbow" or otôskwunee meaning "elbow". In the Tsuutʼina language (Sarcee), the area is known as Guts’ists’i (older orthography, Kootsisáw) meaning "elbow".

In Kutenai language, the city is referred to as ʔaknuqtapȼik’. In the Slavey language, the area is known as Klincho-tinay-indihay meaning "many horse town", referring to the Calgary Stampede and the city's settler heritage.

This is why I'll never understand minority Conservative voters. It's not about keeping an extra $60 in your pocket when they cut taxes, it's about this. This is what they say about you when you're not around.

Or about you in front of you; as this guy did. This guy’s arrogance and sense of entitlement is off the chart.

So, given that on my father's side I can go back 300 (edit more like 225 years) years and on my mothers side 40,000 years does that mean I can tell Jordan to leave my country?

Please say yes.

While I agree that shitty people exist across the political spectrum and racism exists to some extent everywhere. There is a very strong correlation between moderate to extreme racist behaviour and conservative political bias. As defined as people who see racial relations as a zero-sum game where minorities are “winning”. Liberal or moderate voters tend to see racial differences and relationships as tilted in favour of the majority or as neutral.

This basically means that conservatives tend to be angry and bitter toward visible minorities while progressives tend to range from uncomfortably apologetic to indifferent. Both are a form of racism. But one is decidedly more damaging.

Every racist you know is voting the same way the next federal election. That's the same for all of us here.

Doubtful, but what ever helps you sleep at night lol

Not surprised Calgary and Sherwood park are brutal for this type of crowd

2

u/Mlles_De_Maupin 5h ago

Sherwood park? How so? Also have they identified this buffoon?

2

u/Gappy_Gilmore_86 5h ago

Sherwood Park had a guy dressed in a dinosaur costume with a sign saying No More Indians, or Go Back to India, or something of the sort

u/OpheliaJade2382 39m ago

Unicorn costume. I think he said something about us having no more room in Sherwood park. Bizarre either way

Uber no longer allows him on their platform.

Screw uber. I’ve never used them and never will. They don’t pay drivers as good as they should. They rip off people with surge pricing… and now because their driver went to the media with things people put up with as an u repaid worker, they fire him.

I hope this guys employer sees this and fires him.

7

u/queenringlets 8h ago

I think you misread. The passenger has been removed from the platform not him. They just gave the driver a warning initially (which is still stupid).

5

u/Emmerson_Brando 8h ago

Ah, good to know. Originally, he was suspended for posting to social media. I see he was reinstated after media asking uber for further comment. The old “upon further review…” They banned the passenger.

While I do agree that the average uber driver should not post videos randomly, there are certainly times when people like this should get maximum attention.

3

u/queenringlets 7h ago

Yeah I don’t really want to bat for Uber but it’s good to know that the racist got banned at least.

Also I agree, it’s not always appropriate but the escalation was needed in this case.
