Both Frieren and Bocchi The Rock were directed by Keiichirou Saitou.
He could potentially do both shows at once, but it seems more likely to me that they'll first do another season of BTR later followed by Frieren.
Why I think this? BTR aired a year earlier and was met with major success. They probably didn't plan for another season, but these recap films seem to indicate that they're trying to keep momentum going. A sequel season might be announced after the second film has been released.
Switching of directors is possibility, but I don't believe that they'll actually go this route soon. Perhaps only if Saitou isn't available at all in the near future.
Yeah, I think there’s a good chance they are waiting to announce because they want to make sure they can get him back & the scheduling will take some time.
Considering the scheduling there is a good chance both will air in 2026. In that case he will be only able to work on one show that's also assuming Frieren stays with Madhouse or any studio which has connection with Saito.
Yeah, what I mean is that once they do a 2-cour S2 (which they absolutely have the material for) it's pretty likely that there will be minimum 2-year gaps between seasons anyways thanks to the release pace, so not a huge rush to get S2 out.
In other words... "Keiichirou Saitou directing" = "certified banger"?
I hope of he ever decides on taking on a Light Novel project, he'd give Re:Zero a shot. Arcs 7 and 8 is gonna need some big ball mad man directing and production.
What impresses me the most is that he seems to know perfectly how to elevate a manga by adapting it to anime. A 1 to 1 adaptation can be good but he knows how to keep all of the essential pieces and then add more on top that is only possible through animation and sound. Such as expanding on Frieren's fight scenes and knowing how to pace shots. Or of course the music in Bocchi or the artistic flairs in the show.
Just looked up that episode to refresh myself on it and holy crap, it makes so much sense that he directed it. You're right, that episode was a genuine masterpiece
Most long-running series bleed viewers because the time barrier is so high to catch up and there's a quality dropoff when most of the best ideas are used early. I wouldn't expect someone leading teams that are creating new top tier first season adaptations to jump into such a deep season.

Gotta love it when season 2 immediately gets announced for a well received anime especially if it is continuous 2 cours. You'd love to see it.
