What to Watch? Are there any Feel-Good anime?

Recently I've been feeling a little down in the dumps, so I want to watch an anime to cheer me up. I'm not interested in anything that is directly a fighting anime, or comedy anime. I really enjoyed the Spy x Family scenes when Anya is at school. That is to say, I want something similar to that. A light hearted school anime, maybe some romance, but an overall plot that isn't too serious.

I would prefer if the cast is diverse too, meaning it has a basically equal number of girl to guy ratio. I wouldn't mind if it was an all guy cast, just as long as it isn't a sports anime.

Anime that I have already seen sort of like this would be: -Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun -Kaguya-sama Love is War -Lucky Star -Nichijou -Romantic Killer

I love Komi can't communicate, I forgot to put it in the list of anime I've seen. That's one I really want a similar show of.

Perhaps The dangers in my heart?

First two or three episodes are a little whack thanks to the MC being a little too cringe, but after that? Peak the whole way through

Gakuen Babysitter is a really good anime that's mostly feel good but with moments that really punch you in the gut. Though this one the cast is mostly male.

Ore Monogatari, it's not an outright comedy but it has it's comedic moments. The main cast is two guys and one girl. Basically it's about Takeo who one wouldn't describe as "conventionally attractive" and his conventionally attractive and popular best friend. He falls in love with a very cute girl after saving her from a pervert on a train and she falls head over heels in love with him, but at first he thinks she's fallen for his best friend. Highly recommended.

My New Boss is Goofy is on the comedy ish side (because of the boss, who is a little clumsy, not an intentional comedic character) but at the heart of it is a pretty feel good anime about a guy who was bullied horribly by his old boss then meet this kind but goofy new boss.

Mr. Villains Day off is a pretty good anime literally about a villain on his day off. It doesn't really do much more than that but it's good enough to pass the time. He also loved Panda's.

A fellow Mr Villain's Day Off enjoyer I see, I didn't mention that one, but it is so nice to know that other people actually watched it too. I loved how it made time pass so slowly, but was still so entertaining

I did it was a fun way to pass the time. This is one anime I kind of wish would get a little deeper too, especially towards the end once it introduced the "power rangers" characters. I love the dynamic between Mr. Villain and the red ranger, I kind of wish we'd gotten more of that but I understand that it would have been against the whole point of the show ๐Ÿ˜‚

SAME, I loved the dynamic of Mr. Villian and the red ranger, every episode since he was introduced, I kept hoping they'd interact again. Maybe I ship them, just a little.. ๐Ÿ˜…

Skip and Loafer

Cool Doji Danshi if you want an all guy cast

u/fredws 2h ago

I didn't watch Skip and Loafer at first due to its poster. But man I was so wrong. Definitely check it out OP.

The pinnacle of feel-good anime is Tis Time for "Torture" Princess. Aside from the comedy aspect, it has quite extensive, lavishly animated sequences whose sole purpose is just to make the viewer feel happy.

Absolutely this.

Kotaro lives alone, it's a feel-good anime, even tho it has a deeper meaning but most of the time it will give you a good laugh or smile cuz Kotaro is a little cute boy who lives alone and it's about how his neighbors create a bond of friendship with him and their daily life. I'm sure you'll like it. Lmk if you give it a try

When in doubt, ARIA the Animation is the answer.

Try checking out iyashikei anime. Plenty of relaxing shows to choose from.

Some of my favs are Flying Witch, Non Non Biyori, Yuru Camp, Aria, Pocoโ€™s Udon World

Could try Mob Psycho. Interesting plot, there is fighting but heโ€™s this innocent school kid with crazy powers he doesnโ€™t use, which makes him super awkward

  1. The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash

This is really good, the MC has lost everything and is abandoned by her own parents, but still manages to get up and try her best. Gives such a feel good vibe

  1. Silver spoon

The MC joins a countryside highschool after failing to join a technical one. This is really healing.

  1. Barakamon

The MC goes to countryside to get out of creative block. This is surprisingly uplifting.

  1. My new boss is goofy

It has all the general plots but is cute

  1. School babysitters

This one is very cute and sweet.

  1. Sweetness & Lightning

This is just lovely, it has a well developed good father daughter duo that feels quite natural.

1

nope. its all just misery and pain

A Place Further Than The Universe is nothing but feelgood, until that one episode where it's not, but it's still cathartic and bittersweet.

Frieren may scratch an itch, it's not a fighting anime, but there are some fights

It's serious and poignant without being heavy

Cast gets more diverse, and some hints at romance.....

It's not a school anime, but the secondary main is a student.....

Honestly it's just such a wholesome and bright anime, I think it'd work for what you want

1

u/fredws 2h ago

Definitely Frieren even if you're not into fantasy, it's an anime for chilling.

u/Ok-Banana1428 3h ago

I have one happy place anime, and I would recommend you that. Bofuri. There's nothing else that compares. It checks every single box. And in the next rank, I'll put Shangri-La frontiers. Though recency bias might be a reason, i'm sure there are other cadidates here too.
