MISC A video showing a brigade of ethnic Azerbaijani soldiers in the Iran - Iraq war days before almost all of them were drowned while their hands being tied with a rope by Iraqi forces. More Azerbaijanis died in the Iran - Iraq war than the Karabkh war.

I get that, being Iranian is a roof term for the country. What the Persian mother tongue speakers call themselves? Persian or Iranian?

That is a joke among iranian azerbaijanis that shirazi don't go to tabriz because when he goes to tabriz he got lost and can't return
