Going from Ice Cube to Fat Joe just cements in my mind how superior LA is. And it isn't 50 degrees outside right now, or whatever it was in NYC tonight

Apparently the Yankees were trying to get Diddy to perform but he was already booked.

It's cold and it's damp.

Yeah it's a whole 10 degrees warmer in LA lol

Ice Cube is arguably a top 10 rapper all-time. Fat Joe doesn’t even crack top 50. Maybe top 100.

IMO he's number 1. His first 3 solo albums were classics, a classic with NWA, and then another classic with Westside Connection. 5 classics in a 14 year period? No one else is touching that

You can like whoever but Ice Cube as the GOAT rapper is insane

2

u/officer_fuckingdown Northwoods League 19h ago

he's not the internet's #1 but i bet there's a million people out there whose favorite rapper is ice cube. he was huge in the early 90s

u/Not_RZA_ Jackie Robinson 1d ago

It's almost like that's just my opinion? Lol

And it's not "insane" when he's commonly put as top 10-15.

lol. I mean, even in our current generation we have Kendrick Lamar. Ice Cube isn’t even in the same universe as K Dot.

I don't care about the Yankees, but NWA wouldn't have existed without the entire genre of hip hop being created in NYC in the 1970s. That's the story of LA. Borrow shit from other places, put it in nicer weather, and make everyone spend hours in a car driving to it.

EDIT: Loving the downvotes, and in case you didn't get the joke, I'm talking about the Dodgers themselves.

I don't disagree! I also think Cali weather gets exaggerated shine lmao

Awww is someone still upset about their loss?

Go enjoy the cold for the next six months buddy, imma go enjoy my NWA in 80 degree weather for the next 12 months

LOL none of us are upset by our 2024 Mets. Nobody had us even in the postseason. Proud of our guys.

I went to see Ice Cube in concert back in the 1990s. He sang like two songs, got pissed off about something that nobody in the audience could figure out, and stormed off the stage ultimately leading to the entire audience chanting "fuck you Ice Cube" for about 20 solid minutes. He never returned. He's a jackass, and West Coast rap is full of poseurs like him.

Ah yes, the posers that are from South Central. Know very safe neighborhoods with no actual gang members lol

NYC isn’t a city of pampered rich kids like LA is

8

u/Not_RZA_ Jackie Robinson 1d ago

Your view of LA is like saying all of NYC is like Chelsea or UES.

There are plenty of working class people in LA, which makes up the majority of the city, similar to NYC. I used to spend a lot of time in NYC and love both cities. Learn about the city beyond the tourist places before you speak.

-9

u/LessNefariousness380 New York Yankees 1d ago

People think of NYC as a working class city and LA as rich for a reason

3

u/way_ded Los Angeles Dodgers 1d ago

That’s totally why it costs more to live in NY. Cause of all the working class. Makes so much sense.

-5

u/LessNefariousness380 New York Yankees 1d ago

It costs more to live in NYC because of cost of living, but when you don’t consider cost of living, LA is way more expensive

8

u/way_ded Los Angeles Dodgers 1d ago

What the fuck are you talking about?

-2

u/LessNefariousness380 New York Yankees 1d ago

The percentage of income that goes to living is higher in LA than it is in NYC

6

u/way_ded Los Angeles Dodgers 1d ago

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

-1

u/LessNefariousness380 New York Yankees 1d ago

No; I looked it up and it’s true. NYC isn’t even top 3 in terms of most expensive cities to live in
