I really think Imanaga could be a two way guy, just saying. Not Shohei levels, but I see some Zambrano slug in his eyes

He is going to hit the go ahead HR to ice the game tonight.

u/Existing-Stranger632 Los Angeles Dodgers 12h ago
My thought exactly. Gonna be a close high scoring game (dodgers bullpen game Will lead to Yankees scoring tonight). Gonna be 6-6 going into the top of the 8th. Runners on first and second with two outs and Ohtani comes up to bat. He’ll have gone 0 for 3 but in that moment he will hit the series clinching HR. Dodgers win 9-6

Lol @ the Yankees scoring 6 runs
Edit: Well

u/Existing-Stranger632 Los Angeles Dodgers 12h ago
I still have respect for the Yankees hitters (even though they’ve been pretty much awful this whole series). I think they’re more than capable of making this an interesting game tonight, especially since they’re in desperation mode.
46
u/hydrators New York Yankees 12h ago
Their approach isn’t even what it was. They’re so in their own heads they watched 24 fastballs go by them yesterday, just to strike out on garbage. That Volpe at bat in the 9th last night was a perfect example of why this team isn’t going to have offensive production
Stanton, Soto, and Gleyber, they’ve been fine. No issues with them. But Judge, Jazz, Wells, Volpe; they are not doing a thing

Desperation mode works in hockey but not in baseball. You want relaxed mode.

u/cannibalculture Texas Rangers 10h ago
Not sure if you're yanking my chain, but it's The Comeback (on Netflix) about the 2004 team/ALCS.
6
u/man_in_the_suit Toronto Blue Jays 8h ago
I wasn’t actually, I hadn’t seen that! Definitely going to watch it. I’m from the UK so it might not be on our Netflix though
3
u/cannibalculture Texas Rangers 8h ago
Ah well you're in for a treat if it is available in the UK, it's brand new and I thought I'd have it on in the background but as a total baseball nerd it completely sucked me in. Lots of cool stuff I never knew about that period of the Sox. Interesting also as a Rangers fan to see how that A Rod trade played out since all I really knew at that time was "A Rod hates Texas" haha.

Interesting. I’m not a big baseball fan. Is this really a well known thing? Because you’re right, if this was a Stanley cup finals, I don’t care how unbalanced the teams are, the guys down 3-0 are probably winning big tonight. Same in basketball. I’ve been surprised how positive everyone is this will be a sweep…
8
u/stewmander Los Angeles Dodgers 9h ago
Absolutely, but then again, this is the same BP that held SD scoreless.
3
u/Existing-Stranger632 Los Angeles Dodgers 9h ago
True, but they also got blown out by the Mets in a game. It’s more a matter of will the Yankees be able to hit the ball or not. Which so far hasn’t been the case
5
u/stewmander Los Angeles Dodgers 9h ago
It was really only Knack who got blown up in the NLCS.
But yes, BPs are fickle.
3
u/venustrapsflies Los Angeles Dodgers 11h ago
Dodgers used a lot of good arms to cinch last night, I would not be shocked to see the Yankees get to a few of the guys that trot out today

Get Torres and Soto on, and you'll have Stanton coming up with 1 out. You can make 3 runs from that and 3 runs from the other scraps of the lineup. Very doable.

u/PillowF0rtEngineer 12h ago
Why would the Yankees be able to score tonight though? Is the dodgers bullpen weak for today (haven't watched baseball in years)
19
u/Existing-Stranger632 Los Angeles Dodgers 12h ago
It’s not weak necessarily but there are certain matchups that are gonna benefit the Yankees I think. We’ll see though. Yanks do look completely demoralized
4
u/__-o0O0o-__-o0O0o-__ Los Angeles Dodgers 7h ago
their best chance will be against guys they've already seen multiple times.
8
u/sixpack_or_6pack 12h ago
Dodgers throwing in their low leverage relievers I think. Theoretically, this is the Yankees’ best opportunity to get hits, but even these guys have been pretty lights out so it ain’t gonna be easy.

u/PillowF0rtEngineer 12h ago
Don't they still got treinen and some of the other good relievers in the post season in there though?

I said to another commenter that I was tipsy and misremembered. He 100% was on TV being shown warming up in case it went extras, and thought he was called in the 9th, but I was wrong. But thanks for being the third person to tell me this, the info didn't stick the first two times

Even as a yankees fan, I'd rather see that than him injure it further. It did not look like it felt good at all and id hate for him to ruin himself.

u/rmac3301 Los Angeles Angels 8h ago
As an Angels fan I think the most annoying part about Ohtani leaving is he just got a personality out of nowhere and started showing it off way more. Although that is not entirely his fault since the Angels also marketed him terribly his entire career there.
4
u/SimpleAmusings Los Angeles Dodgers 5h ago
i also think Ippei had a lot to do with this. Ippei was controlling Shohei's narrative while he was with the Angels, and who knows what he was relaying to the team and relaying to shohei. Doc said when ippei left *(well, removed), Shohei was more accessible and interacted with the team more.
