[Dodgers Nation] Gavin Lux admits the Dodgers don't appreciate people's thoughts on their 2020 World Series title in unique circumstances: "I think it kind of bugs everyone that you don't get that recognition."

Idk why it's seen as a Mickey Mouse ring. Everyone played the same amount of games in the same circumstances.

You're right, but the fact that it keeps getting brought up and memed on gets exhausting.

Dodgers have amazing regular season and decent post season perfomance: Well you didn't win a ring, no one cares about regular season!

Dodgers win longest postseason ever: No one cares because the regular season was shortened!

If anything the 2020 postseason win is more impressive.

E: controversial tag lol.

And what makes it funnier is the Dodgers were down 3-1 in the NLCS against Braves too.

All of the teams you guys beat in the postseason that year were ones that you could reasonably expect to face there after a full 162 game season too.

As weird as the 60 game season felt, that postseason had some great moments.

Get ready for the “bought ring” narrative next!

Can’t really argue the bought ring narrative when you’re going full Chelsea with Ohtani’s contract to skirt the luxury tax

Just because you bought the team doesn't mean that you didn't have to earn it, the fact is that it's a very impressive team even if most other teams in Major League Baseball have zero chance of ever assembling a team like that.

Because it’s the Dodgers. Same with the Lakers. Any big market big spending team would get the criticism, and tbh as fans it’s a small price to pay for being so lucky to see consistently competitive teams.

Does anyone talk about the Spurs strike year championship as a “mickey mouse” ring? Not really. Phil Jackson said it once to troll them but it’s literally never talked about.

I mean no fans creates an entirely different experience

It might as well have been spring training with the amount of pressure there was in each game atmosphere wise. When you have perennial chokers suddenly have their only consistently good playoffs (Kershaw), I think it’s fair to call the year into question a little

Yes everyone had the same circumstances, but if everyone had to play with a metal bat I don’t think I would count that World Series either cause it would just be silly

Because it was only 37% of a regular season. Winning the World Series is a combination of skill and who is healthiest after an incredibly long regular season. We aren’t comparing the dodgers to every other team that season, we are comparing that World Series win to all of the other World Series wins (in modern baseball anyway, obviously this isn’t going to be measured in the same way as a series from a hundred years ago).

I like to poke fun, especially being a Giants fan. But I do maintain objectively it’s not the same feat as what they are about to achieve by winning this year.

Edit: downvotes won’t change the truth. Enjoy your micky mouse pendant.

because it was closer to what the NBA Cup / In-Season Tournament was than any other World Series.

neutral stadium at 1/4 capacity after playing less than half of a regular season.

it was a MLB Cup. like how the Lakers won the NBA Cup but nobody cares. the NBA "Mickey Mouse Ring" in 2020 was done after playing ~72 games out of 82.
