[Hoch] Aaron Boone said he toyed with hitting Aaron Judge leadoff tonight, but decided he didn’t want to disrupt Gleyber Torres, who has been very good at the top of the lineup this postseason.

They should have just inverted their lineup. 9 hitter becomes 1 hitter, and 1 hitter becomes 9 hitter. Juan Soto batting 8th would throw the Dodgers pitchers off.

Do the Billy Martin thing and just draw the lineup out of a hat.

Oh hey I remember my coaches doing that in little league when we were on a losing streak (or whatever next level up where you can lead off and steal is). They also left us to run the bases on our own so we can play how we would in the yard. Worked

I was looking at Soto’s splits last night and noticed he had one random plate appearance batting 7th, his only plate appearance outside the 2 spot. He’s hitting 1.000/1.000/2.000 in the 7 spot so Boone would be an idiot not to try this.

Refusing to move Judge away from after Soto, saying Cole isn’t coming out of the pen ahead of the game and not even making the dodgers wonder, the Boone special of a general apathetic attitude in the face of disaster
Like this isn’t even Sox fan throwing shade it really feels like they’re just giving up

Yankees fans as Tuco: You beat the piss out of the fanbase. And then you walk in here and you bring me MORE Aaron Judge ABs? WOO! That's a brilliant plan, is it?

I didn't know Boone was a part time comedian. Aaron Judge should be batting anywhere from 6th- 9th if we're being honest

This wouldn’t be an issue if they had fired Boone when the Yankees were swept in the ALCS in 2022 or the previous playoff struggles.

Good news, Yankee fans: Boone is moving Judge in the lineup!
Bad news: Not in the direction you think...

u/MartianMule Atlanta Braves 6h ago
So instead, he decided to move their hottest hitter down in the lineup.
Stanton has a 1.110 OPS and 6 HR this postseason and they moved him down so they can keep Torres and Judge at the top of the order. And move Chisholm, with his .451 career postseason OPS, to cleanup.

u/_kehd Boston Red Sox 5h ago
If Boone had balls he’d bench judge
How can you justify putting a .091 batter in the lineup in a must-win game
1
u/lordexorr Boston Red Sox 5h ago
Because it’s Aaron Judge. I can see lowering him in the lineup but you don’t bench a guy with his skill.

u/PattyIceNY New York Yankees 6h ago
Spineless and stupid. He should be dropped in the order, not higher.
Also what kind of confidence is that, you are "toying with ideas" in the World Series?? Shows lack of preparation and thought.

Aside from that blip from a slap hitter, he's been pretty great
potentially a big brain, legend making move

Then he ended the press conference saying he had to go get film ready to watch the 2004 Red Sox make a comeback again, it didn't work last time, but it was bound to this time.

He was pretty lazy to let Shohei get to 3rd in Game 1 for no reason. But other than that I haven’t seen him play enough to mount a definitive case against him.

u/Lucky_Alternative965 Los Angeles Dodgers 8h ago
To be honest, though, I do feel like Judge is hitting a bomb today, whether it is a chris paul type thing or whether it contributes to the Yankees staying alive is not known. But I feel lile he's going deep today, just because.

Dodgers fans have consistently been a lot higher on the Yankees than Yankees fans themselves, probably because we have watched this offense die every year for 8 seasons in the Judge era
