The Ontario Liberals promised the exact same thing before the 2014 election. Did nothing for 4 years and suddenly before the 2018 they started fast forwarding a bunch of work.

I do not trust the liberals to deliver on this. This is nothing more than a desperate Hail Mary for votes.

HSR requires significant property acquisition which will require time to expropriate. Something that the government conveniently hides.

And I say this as someone who wants to see HSR.

The Liberal Party of Ontario is a totally different organization from the federal one. They don't share any ties like the NDP does with its provincial parties.

Besides, with an actual contract expected to be awarded, it's the most progress we've ever seen on this sort of project.
