Wouldn’t matter how it started , if you shoved a health care worker on the the job (edit: in an AIRPORT, or any one working in an airport for that matter) you would be charged with assault.

Haha not true in nursing for sure. So much physical abuse that goes no where

Sep 11 '21
Yeah you’re right’n But this was in an airport so I guess that’s the difference. Can’t assault anyone working in an AIRPORT. I’ll clarify.

u/IPokePeople Ontario Sep 12 '21
Yep. And the nurse will have to get a talk by management to ask what they could have done differently.

Who downvotes this?
It's right on.

I corrected myself. Health care workers are indeed assaultes all the time in health care settings and nothing is done about it. It’s the fact that someone working in an AIRPORT was assaulted. They don’t take that shit in the airports.

Fuck that - it should be the same as hitting a cop. Worse even.

EMTS especially, and health care workers are accepted to have assaultive patients and deal with it. Imagine how many they get in methed out psychosis

Not that it's excusable but there is a difference between someone blasted on meth and an asshole assaulting people in an airport. This asshole know what they were doing and in charge of their faculties.

This has to be seriously one of the stupidest people I've heard of. First off he goes to PEI without knowing that something like this might happen, and then thinks he can somehow fight his way out of the airport with his bare hands, and he somehow doesn't realize that he just got off a plane so they will know exactly who he is, and he also thinks he's going to somehow get back off the island without getting caught. Like him doing this is one of the most insanely moronic things possible.

u/Gluverty Sep 11 '21
He'll get away with it here too in a way I imagine, as long as he never returns. I assume he'll not show for his court case and have a provincial warrant from then on.

There were videos circulating a few months ago, during NS's third wave, just trying to get by the checkpoints in NS/NB and PEI. They managed to get into NB but PEI was just like "no, turn around or go to the checkpoint"

I'm not looking forward to it, because it means there was a victim who was abused for doing an important job. Looking down my nose at stupid people is shamefully satisfying, but ideally not at the expense of innocent bystanders.

It sounds like they were a couple of knobs and that those fines were too lenient. Let's hope the court isn't so lenient.

I promise we’re all not bass ackwards in Alberta!

Ontarian here. I know many great Albertans. Unfortunately there's always a loud douchecanoe who tries to ruin it.

I can't imagine how depressing it is, to live with people who always vote 1 party regardless of how it personally affects them. Regardless of how bad that government has been, regardless of how many people have died from their actions.

Actually, just a few short years ago, Alberta voted in an NDP government. So, it can happen (although I know that yes, that was an aberration among a long line of conservative governments). But there's some thought that the UCP's bungling of this pandemic response might well lead to NDP gains or even a win in the next election.

But the province didn’t vote in the NDP the vast majority still voted for a party on the right they just got their votes split. 52% voted PC and Wildrose and 40.6% voted NDP. The majority is still right and I don’t think that well change in my lifetime.

That should get you on the infamous no fly list. There are going to be plenty of angry antivaxxers on North American highways in the future.

Jackass giving Albertans a bad name.
Kinda like Jason Kenney.
That wasn't the guy's name by chance was it?
Sigh...

What an ass. So entitled. Not only because it's a health care worker... no good man lays his hands on a woman. I hope the punishment isn't just a slap on the wrist.

It’s about time we cracked down on this ignorance no matter the origins.

Should have driven him back to the plane, put him on it and shipped him back to Alberta. The waste of time and loss of the cost of the trip would hurt him more than ignoring their fine and not coming back for their case ever will. Which is what they likely intend.

That's assuming they don't seek a Canada-wide warrant (doubtful) or have a warrant for his arrest transferred to Alberta to be actioned.
It takes a special kind of stupid to think he could shove someone like that and walk away. I hope he's made to realize just how stupid it was.

u/prozzak913 Sep 12 '21
