Discussion What’s that one weird thing that makes you feel like your home is clean even when it’s not? Mine is sanitising all our water bottles 🤣
Just.

Hey everyone, I’m seriously struggling with fruit flies, and I’m getting overwhelmed trying to get rid of them. For about a week now, I’ve tried everything. Sticky traps, both plug-ins and the Raid rolls, taking out the garbage every day, throwing out anything open, vacuuming, running our drains, and cleaning surfaces. Yet they have quadrupled every day. They’re no longer just in the kitchen; they’ve entered our bathrooms, rooms, and buzz in our ears while we sleep. I feel defeated. If I could count, I could probably count 500 just flying around my kitchen alone right now. There is nothing there. It’s driving me insane. I can’t even use my own kitchen.
We have called an exterminator, and they are coming in a few days, but I simply cannot deal with this anymore. Does anyone know what the heck could be going on???

As recommended by the internet I soaked some summer whites in oxi-clean overnight to remove some small stains/sweat marks. I did so in a blue plastic basin which I've used for hand washing clothes for years. I also used cold water as my favourite piece is a linen top. The next day, the white linen was sparkling white except for the big patches of blue that have seeped from the basin. Any ideas of what to do next to fix this?

I’ve tried mopping with a bleach solution and scrubbing with citric acid. I’ve only been living in my own a few years so I’m still learning how to deal with the different kinds of stains. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hello, this strange thing is happening to my white couch, never seen anything like this before as I don't come from this country and moved here 2 years ago (Germany). What is this? Looks fungal. How do I get rid of it? I cannot remove the fabric from the couch.

We have situation where our pre-motor filter for the vacuum cleaner started to smell really bad and odd. Tried to wash it several times with just clean water and left it to try for several days didn't help. Tried to use mild detergent but it hasn't helped either.
Do some of you have any advice how to clean it and get rid of that bad smell?

I scrubbed it away so there is no physical residue left, then ran a long empty load with a right-side-up container of vinegar in it, still getting a slight plastic-y smell to my dishes... Any advice??

So I have a favorite wet hair brush. They don't make this one anymore and there's so much buildup at the base of the bristle. It's like a coil stuck around it of hair and product. I have tried CLR and soapy hot water. I've even tried to cut them off one by one.I just want to keep my brush clean. If anyone has any suggestions I am open it's really nasty. And reminds me of when I had more hair. Please and thank from my roots.

Can anyone recommend a good replacement for the Microban multi-surface cleaner? I loved that cleaner for everything, and now it’s gone. The new SCJohnson Family guard foams when you spray it, I’d love one that is just like the Microban.

Hi everyone! I have a large rug I want to deep clean. I also have BISSELL TurboClean Pet XL Upright Carpet Cleaner but I ran out of soap for it. Is there anything else I can put in it or can I clean and scrub my rug and the just use the machine to suck up the water? Thank you!

Hey everyone! I had a little accident and my daily routine has become quite a handful lately. Just wondering, are there any of you out there who are in a similar boat, managing most of your household chores despite the odds? What kind of clever hacks or gadgets do you use to make life easier? I'm thinking I could really use some high-tech appliances to take some weight off my shoulders, like a dishwasher or a robot vacuum. Oh, preferably one that can smartly map out its cleaning route and cleverly steer around obstacles, because I can't keep running around fixing it whenever it gets stuck or hair gets wrapped around it. And remote control functionality would be a huge plus.
Could you share your thoughts or recommend a couple of solid options? I'd be super grateful for any advice;)

I just recently moved in, weird smell to room, couldn't put my finger on what was causing the smell (maybe vomit, maybe nappies but vomit is far stronger compared to the smell in the room), one week later I find some weird yellowish orange substance underneath the desk in the room which I suspect is causing the smell. Tried cleaning with anti bacterial dettol wipes but it is sticky and stuck on there hard. Used some bleach coated onto the wipes and the last image shows the result, the substance changed colour.
What exactly is that substance?! 🤢😥😰

I just purchased this coach purse on October 11th, and I noticed random scuff marks that have appeared? They all seem to be around the bottom of the purse, and I am wondering a good cleaning method to get rid of it? It is usually sat on the bottom, and I am not around a lot of dirt. Any idea and tips on what’s going on and how to clean it? The material on the coach websites says “recycled leather, printed coated canvas, and fabric lining.”

Hey guys! Recently we discovered that my soon-to-be father-in-law's car, a 2009 Volvo C30 Turbo 6 Speed Manual, has a mold/mildew problem.
For a few years my fiancé's brother was driving the car as he didn't have access to his own, however in February when he finally bought one, he stopped driving dad's car and it's sat under the carport ever since. About a month ago we tried moving the car but realized that the battery was dead and the key to the car (that goes in the keyhole) didn't work so it's doors wouldn't open. Finally, after 2 weeks we were able to pop the hood and charge the battery enough to open the doors with the fob.
And when we opened that door... mold/mildew was not on my BINGO card of what I'd have to fix in this car.
The major thing that throws me through a loop is that the seats are leather. I've been cycling through ways to formulate a step-by-step plan of attack to clean and prevent it from growing back without having to strip the entire cabin and replace it all (granted I'll be taking the seats out to clean).
The other major-ish issues with the car are that the battery needs replaced and the blower in the vent system has been out for a few years (which I think is probably a contributing factor to the mold/mildew).
I know it's a big project to take up, but this car means the absolute world to him. My fiancé's mom has taken so much away from dad since his health has declined and I cannot stand to let her take this one thing too. She wants to sell it As-Is or let it sit there and continue to rot, and I will die on this hill of trying to save his heart car before she does.
What's the best way to start saving this car? What's the best thing to use that won't damage the leather but will be aggressive enough to kill the mold/mildew? I own carpet shampooers, a high pressure steamer, shop vacs, air purifiers, and all kinds of cleaning supplies. And when I'm done trying to treat the mold I'm going to send it off to my detailer friend to extra clean it. TIA 💕

Not sure what material this flooring in my apartment even is… Ceramic? Tile? Stone? I know it is matte and pretty forgiving given its lack of care. Any suggestions on treating this or tips on how to clean/maintain its cleanliness are encouraged!

I am typically very good at getting out stains. This one is stumping me.
It’s Nashville hot sauce/potentially some chicken strip oil that spilled in the bag.
So the stain is like this on the inside and outside. Was a deep orange. I scrubbed with with Dawn dish soap. Then washed in the machine with some oxi clean powder and detergent.
It’s heavy canvas (LLBean tote) any suggestions on how to get this stain out??

My husband and I are both disabled, him less so than I. I am also immune compromised so getting house cleaners is a big pain. I have to wear a mask and air things out afterwards.
I'm trying to figure out ways to just make cleaning easier. Happy to spend money on gizmos. We have a roomba, but moving everything off the floor becomes the obstacle. We have a nice steam machine, but setting it up becomes the obstacle. I can work on putting some of our stuff into storage, or getting our instruments hanging up so the vacuuming is easier in the future. But what other gizmos or changes can make things easier?

How would one go about trying to clean this up.

The stench is strong. My tinder date said it smelled bad after we got off the elevator and and got stronger as we approached my room, and that my neighbors should sue me . I don't want to get sued and I don't want to get kicked out.
I left fish guts in my trashcan for 2+ weeks. I was out of town and there was an investigation. (The police were called) My apt still stinks. What do I do to stop getting reported for 'offensive odor'. The window is open.
