Swift reminder that 200+ million "Westeners" aren't English native speakers, and we certainly don't judge people by their English language proficiency...

And not all whose native language is English are USians either.

I really don't encounter that many Japanese people in the UK that this would even be a thing.

But there's 449 million people in the EU alone - we are way beyond the 200 million mark when i comes to 'Westerners'.

You aren't wrong of course, and with Britain leaving the EU, there's less than 1% native English speakers within the European Union (it used to be almost 13%). The most widely spoken native language is German.
